    Ciabatta sandwich. DELICIOUS.

No sign, deli is upstairs above a marina. Not crowded - perhaps because it's way out of the way! Serves boars head meats. Generous sandwiches. Beautiful view. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was nice! Very clean. Worth the drive!

An out of the way place at Wanchese harbor. Recommended to us by a local. Believe that locals still call the place Annie's. I got the New England clam chowder. I like adding Texas Pete and black pepper to mine. Not disappointed. Would recommend. Went with the Cuban sandwich. Not a connoisseur of Cubans, but I did enjoy it and found it filling. Sister in law went with the shrimp salad and enjoyed the freshness. It was light on the onions, which she appreciated. Wife went with the chicken salad. Sorry, but she thinks her mom's chicken salad is better. Inside was clean and the folks were pleasant. I love these kind of places. I have had the chance to travel to many small places in America and I sometimes forget that there are thousands of little towns with local eateries that just serve up good If I could , I would probably give this place 4.75 because my wife liked her mom's chicken salad better. Worth going to see a piece of Americana that still exists today. Would I eat here again? Yes. Would I recommend to family and friends? Yes.

Hole in the wall local joint with tourist somehow finding their way to it. Food was most excellent. We had a Grilled Chicken Salad + BBQ Sandwich with side. If you like the town secret local feel then knock yourself out. Don't come here if your just going to complain that the place is old and whatever. It is what it is and it is not pretending to be something that it's not. I would love to live nearby to sample more of the menu but alas I had to leave.

Exterior- Deli is upstairs on second floor.

Wanchese Marina & Landing Grill - Fresh fried flounder, basket lunch

Hard to find in Richmond so if I have a chance to get them, I jump at the chance. The special of the day was a flounder basket. I was able to substitute clam strips for other items, and the basket included a nicely sized piece of flounder (fish of the day), heaping helping of clam strips, fries, hush puppies, and slaw. "Beer of the Day" was $2.00! Wife got the cheesesteak sub with fries. All food--as they tell you when you walk in is fried--is fried. Totally OK with that and it was very, very tasty. Friendly staff, items mostly homemade, clean restaurant, a clear view of an honest-to-goodness working dock. Exactly what we were looking for for our last night in Manteo area. If you have not been to the Marina and Grill...please get there for a fun, tasty, almost entirely homemade meal at very reasonable prices, rubbing elbows with locals and people coming off of the fishing day, just adds to the charm to this slightly off the beaten path gem.

Found this spot in Yelp and said why not. I ordered the fried shrimp basket, hubby ordered the fried grouper and we loved our selections. My husband isn't a fan of shrimp but he tried it and loved it. The girls that working were super friendly. We got there just in time for lunch rush. Loved looking out to the harbor. We will be back and I'll give a follow up review.

On this occasion, we walked around the Christmas Market at the Wanchese Community Center and had our lunch at O'Neal to end a six-year hiatus. We again had good seafood. Ms T had good, fresh and flavorful fried shrimp I had the catch of the day; Red Drum. We accepted the included coleslaw, and we both added fries. This was a good lunch. The seafood remained as good as before and the slaw is some of the better such around. They know how to give it a good sweet-sour balance. It was also fresh, not old and soggy as happens too many times. We also shared a cup of their crab soup that was not something we would ever order again. It is pasty, over-thickened with flour and almost totally unseasoned. We would prefer a creamy soup, that is thickened with cream. We added some salt, and it helped, but it was still wallpaper paste. There is really no saving this, they need to start over and lose the flour. We also felt the food was a little over-priced for what we got. I realize the days of getting a fresh seafood basket for $6 are far behind us, but over $50 for two baskets and one cup of soup is a little steep, especially when we both drank water. Ms T said she would prefer to return to Wanchese. The food is good here, but you have been warned about the crab soup and the prices.

We dined here for lunch and there was a line almost out the front door at 12:45pm. You place your order and pay at the counter then get your beverage and then find a seat and someone will bring out your order. The order number is on the receipt so hang onto it at least until your order arrives. In spite of how busy the restaurant was, we managed to find an open table inside. There are also some tables outside in back. It was a bit chilly when we were there so we stayed in. One of the daily specials was the club which I ordered on rye with potato salad. The restaurant has a fun, laid-back atmosphere, and they were getting ready for live music while we were there. We were dining with our young daughter, and once the band had finished setting up, we got the impression they were gently encouraging us to wrap things up. No one was rude about it, but it definitely felt like they preferred not to have a family with a little one there once the music got underway. My husband ordered a burger that he polished off and described simply as, "Good." Coming from him, that's actually a solid endorsement. I ordered the Cuban Reuben. The flavors were good, but I was surprised to find it served on what appeared to be a flour tortilla rather than the flatbread described on the menu. It ended up eating more like a wrap than a sandwich. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I had ordered fries with my meal but received chips instead. I never checked the receipt to see whether I was charged for the upgrade, but it ended up working out just fine. My husband was convinced they were just really good Lay's chips. I disagreed. We still haven't settled that debate, but we both agreed they were fresh, crunchy, and delicious. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese, and after spending the week on an unofficial Outer Banks grilled cheese tour (because toddlers have priorities), this one landed somewhere around a 5/10. Overall, it was a pleasant meal with a great atmosphere, and I can absolutely see it being a fun place to grab a drink and listen to live music. It just wasn't one of the standout meals from our trip.
