I used to live in Belltown and went here every time. A couple times I was disappointed because they forgot this or that ( I know I should have said something when they handed me the mirror but sometimes you miss things ). I got a haircut last week by Steve and when I found out he was going to cut my hair again, I was relieved. He's the best and today I just called to get his name so I can call there to make sure he's working the next time I go there. He's polite, can cut hair and have a conversation at the same time! I moved to West Seattle and still go there, by bus!, and it only takes 25 minutes to get there. Well worth the money!! 5 stars easily. There is also another [bigger and taller] guy there with really short hair, and he is just as good! (don't know his name though) read more

Luan cut off more than twice the amount I asked. I could attribute this to miscommunication since his english is poor but that doesn't explain the choppy and unlayered haircut. It's a horrible haircut and doesn't resemble the style I had or what I asked for. The only thing that can fix this is two and a half months growth and a new haircut. A note to other reviewers: Not all the hairstylists at an establishment have the same skill level. If you're reviewing the haircut but don't give the name of the person that gave the haircut, then your review isn't helpful! read more

Ridiculous bad hair cut. Afraid to even go back and get it fixed. Asked for half an inch And they cut at least 2 inches off looks so goofy might have to shave my head before going into work. read more

I'm all about the quick cut, but as a girl who is very particular about hair, this might be a little too quick and simple. I've gotten layers my whole life so I know how it should be done to be done well. But because it is a very quick service, it wasn't really as great as I wanted it to be. I went with my boyfriend and his turned out great. I think if you are looking for anything more complicated than a trim or a straight cut, then I'd say just spend a little extra money for a more worthy cut. Overall, the experience was fine. I just don't think I would go again :/ read more

Very bad service, the lady made me wait extra 30 min - manager came late and went to bank instead of taking care of the customers. People would come and leave due to the wait time and staff could careless. Mohammad picked his coat and left for 1 hour lunch inspite of customers waiting. Great clips need to monitor their business and pay attention to these details. The manager lady had an attitude along the way. I will not recommend anyone to go there read more

Great Clips: The name says it all. They normally do a great cut. Haircuts are reasonably priced ($17.00). It may be me, but I don't think men should pay much more than that. I came in here due to their new year $7.99 haircut promotion. It got the job done and kept my hair short enough for me to stand it for about another 2 months. My stylist was Jamie was was very friendly and chatty. I particularly enjoyed their Online Check-in. If you're heading to or towards a Great Clips, you can easily place a reservation, skipping any line there may be. Of course, you can always just stop in without an appointment. The location is easily accessible off Mercer Street, but you're stuck with street meter parking. I personally can't complain! Well...I did return today for another haircut with my receipt that boasted "Bring this receipt back by Mar. 27 and receive next haircut $8.99 within 60 days." :) read more

First time getting a haircut from "Great Clips" and I told the guy "Luan" about the haircut that I wanted and even showed a picture. He seems to be in a rush when I was explaining the length that I wanted on the sides when it's not even busy. He knows I was disappointed with the cut that he gave me. The haircut was rushed and doesn't even look similar to the photo that I showed him. Really unhappy customer and would never recommend. At least not this guy "Luan"!!!! read more

For an easy $20 quick cut, I don't need to go somewhere uber trendy. Haircut was what I asked for, and a pretty standard experience - in and out in 15 minutes. What I still don't understand with this chain is the online check in system. I did not check in online but had to wait for a few minutes to see if "everyone ahead of me" in the virtual queue would show up... They never did... Even by the time my cut was finished... If I find another barber that can do the same cut for the same price, then I'll do that instead of wasting time waiting for online check ins who don't show up... read more

I went here for just a trim thinking it would be difficult for someone to screw that up. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I left with a choppy attempt at layering and a feeling of regret. I recommend you go somewhere else and pay a bit more. read more

I come to this salon for a couple of reasons (location, price, online check-in... etc.) but the main reason is because my favorite stylist is here. Jamie is knowledgeable, quick, efficient, and she gives a great cut. She also has an uncanny knack for understanding what I'm describing without getting that "glazed over" look when I am uncertain of how to put my thoughts into words. I also appreciate the recommendations she makes based on her past experience with cutting my hair (something I wouldn't get if I allowed a stranger to do my hair). Not long ago, Jamie transferred to the Avondale location from Queen Ann. I "followed" her to the new location, but crossing the lake was more than a bit taxing, so I can't begin to describe my joy to learn that she has returned to Queen Ann. It is a loss for the Avondale customers, but I can cease my considerations of finding a new stylist. read more

Just moved to Seattle from New Jersey and went in for a trim. The result for a screw up like I have never seen before. Apart from my hair being pulled and my head being constantly adjusted. I end up with a hair cut from hell.. Avoid at all costs. read more

Laun is a great barber/stylist. He's been cutting my hair for almost a year and never skips a beat no matter how long I've been out. The atmosphere there is pleasant and expedient. read more

The quality at this Great Clips has definitely gone down over time. I've been going here since 2008 and in the beginning every haircut I got there was spot on. There was even one guy who I felt gave salon-quality haircuts, but alas he moved on to a barbershop in Ballard. There are still one or two women here who have followed my instructions well, but in my last two haircuts there in row, the guys I got didn't follow my instructions very well. Both of them left my hair too long (I told them I wanted finger length on top, referencing my fingers, and at the end when I said I wanted it shorter they just told me that their hands were too big), and the first one actually gave my most painful haircut ever. He said he had done like 30 haircuts that day because the Sounders scored 2 goals, which meant free haircuts and it felt like he was hitting my head with a shaver for 10 minutes. Neither haircut looked bad, they just weren't what I was looking for. I could target that one person I know does a good job, but for $17 is it really worth going through that effort? I went last week to Scissors Palace instead and had a much better experience for $2 more (plus a hot neck shave) and when I told her finger length and it was too long in the end, lo and behold: she actually followed my direction and got it a little shorter using the comb and scissors. read more

I went on a Sunday at 10:45am and realized that it opens only at 11am. I was lingering around waiting for it to open. The lady over there noticed me and kindly opened the door and did a haircut for me. She was quick but careful. The overall experience was good. Some additional information: They accept credit cards (mastercard, visa) and cash. A haircut costs 17$. I paid 20$. read more

Terrible appointment management system: walkins are made to wait more than an hour. People who check in online are taken even if they walk in an hour after someone who who has not checked in online. Just terrible service. read more

Great place to get your hair done and they do it just like you ask for it to be done! Can't complain about that. I recommend people come to this location because there prices are good and the staff is awesome. I will also be coming back here. No doubt on that read more

Let's be honest here people, some of us just aren't cool/trendy enough to get our hair cut at places like Zero-Zero, Rudy's, Lucky-7, ect... and because I fall into that category, I usually just go to this Great Clips. They don't have indie-rock as their background music, they don't have the coolest waiting areas, and their hairstylist aren't trendy twenty somethings, but for basic hair styles like mine, they do a pretty good job. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. The place itself is dirty; carpet in waiting area is beyond gross, lighting is dim and actual stations are gross; hair not swept up, dirty mirrors, etc. Customer service is horrible! One guy's English is barely understandable, he's impatient, rude and doesn't even make an attempt to communicate in a professional manor with customers. The other guy is a complete slob; he looks dirty, smells unclean and has the same rude and impatient behavior. His heavy breathing every time he moves just adds a creepy vibe to the whole experience. Both act as if they are doing customers a favor; which they most definitely are not. A 5 year old could give a better cut with plastic scissors. Both act as if they've never seen an elderly or disabled client and make no attempt to treat either group as if they are even human. I could blow off most of these faults and simply not go back. However, their treatment of the elderly and disabled is inexcusable and the reason I have filed a complaint with their corporate office. read more

I am usually very untrusting of new places. I have my girl I see by my house and I rarely let anyone else touch my hair. But today I had time to kill so I went to this location and saw Anna. She was AMAZING! They were able to help me right away. They were friendly and helpful and Anna did exactly what I asked her to do! I have finicky, super thin hair and she gave it shape and style. Thank you Anna! You're on my list on "girls" that can touch my head. I'll defiantly come see you again. read more

Awesome, friendly staff and awesome manager (Jamie). She does a great job and is so fun to talk to. I have always enjoyed dropping in. I wish more places had this type of great customer service and a great manager! You all ROCK! read more

One word. Eddy. One of the things that bugs me about typical stylists is that after they are finished with the cut, they let me leave with hair flying off my head like pollen spreading from trees. Eddy is my go to stylist because he actually makes you fit to return to the real world after your cut. He's quick, but also important for me is that he makes sure all the stray hair is cleaned up from my head afterwards so that I'm not scratching my head and neck like crazy on my way home. Kudos Eddy for keeping an eye out for the little things! read more

I'm on a budget right now and Great Clips is a great way to save money. At $17 a pop the price can't be beaten. I lost my regular hairdresser in Seattle about a year ago and have not had my hair cut in the city since. My last haircut was in October of last year back on the East Coast. I gave in and finally had to get a trim to my hair. I went to Great Clips for a simple trim and the hairdresser did a fantastic job. More was cut off than I would have liked, but considering how bad my dead ends were, I had no choice but to suck it up and cut it off. The hairdresser was friendly and quick. I'd go back for a trim, but not sure if I would be willing to go back for a big hair change. read more

The staff at this location is friendly. However, their virtual check in system should be revised. You have to wait longer than necessary if you do not check in but are available even if the person who made an appointment is not present. read more

For a 17$ hair cut, this place is absolutely fantastic ..The staff was very friendly and super efficient pertaining to any additional adjustments during the hair cut ...quick and cheap ..couldn't ask for more ...and yes, the online system is not the most perfect one as you do have to wait for the person who checked in before you even if he hasn't arrived read more

Luan was great! He cut my hair exactly how I asked. He was really nice, and took his time

I had a cut by Andre back in mid June. He did great, gave me what I asked for and was fun to talk to. Also he has a very gentle touch. (Sounds weird. But seriously, so gentle when combing, moving my head, etc.) The price was great and I even got a coupon to come back for $8.99! read more

I visited this salon yesterday afternoon in hopes I could have a stylist help me cut some inches off and add some layers to my hair. I was attended by a short Asian gentleman. He chopped off a lot of my hair which I indeed asked for. Was very excited to see all my dead ends fall to the floor! As he continued cutting my hair and began to add the layers I noticed the layers were far too short compared to the rest of my hair. I expressed my concern with him and he responded defensively to me that he knew what he was doing. Rather than listening to what I had to say he continued to cut the layers far too short for my liking. I sat there contemplating whether I should just let him finish his work but honestly felt compelled to ask him to stop (kindly) since it just kept looking worse and worse... He ripped off the cape from me and then walked away to the register. I put my hair up in a pony tail since I was embarrassed to walk out with the outcome. I walked up to the register and the stylist said "$20". I paid my money and walked out feeling belittled and disappointed. Really I felt he should have paid me $20 for wasting my time and for the way he treated me. I will never visit a great clips again and will surely warn people about this man and this location. read more

I have been going to this location for 3 years and have had pretty much every stylists in the store to cut my hair. It's really disheartening to read some of the harsh reviews. Come on people! You don't bring a photo or style guide to a 20-dollar barber shop and expect to come out looking like a celebrity. It's a place for a quick haircut for people who just want the same simple hair cut every 4 to 6 weeks. If you want stylish haircut, expect to pay two or three times more. I also can't help sensing the racial overtones when people complained about the accent or the communication. These are hard-working people and a few key words should do the trick unless you are looking for a soul mate in the barber shop. Other complains about personal hygiene and the cleanness of the place were just over the top. Please leave your attitude and sense of entitlement at home. Do yourself a favor, please! read more

ZouZouanna (sp?) was sweet, precise and charming. I'll admit I was nervous given that it's a chain -- but I was pleasantly surprised. I went in because i was short on cash and couldn't go to my regular girl (3x the cost). She did exactly what I asked for and it looks healthy, shiny and great! I'll definitely be going back!! read more

Really like this place due to it's location from my house. Prices are reasonable for Seattle, 21 dollars (which includes tip).

I've been requesting Luan for two years now and have always received an excellent cut. If you want a great guys haircut, Luan is your man.
