My husband took my daughter and son to Great Clips on Sunday November 30, 2025. I don't expect perfect salon results from Great Clips but her hair was absolutely butchered. I had to fix it. Photo 1 purple shirt was done by the "professional" and photo 2 white shirt was me fixing it myself. I have zero training and a super cheap amazon set of hair scissors. I cut off over two inches to straighten it out. My sons was not great either there is a big chunk off the front. read more

Yeah no, Karina was my "hairstylist " and I say NEVER AGAIN! She was definitely NEW & just her entire energy was so negative. Didn't even greet me or nothing. Ended up having another hairstylist literally cut my hair in the beginning so she could do the rest of my hair cut.. and I just felt so Uncomfortable. She is definitely not cut out for this . She needs ALOT of practice. And didn't even do my face framing properly. Will not return and if I do DO NOT REQUEST KARINA. No thanks. Waste of money and time. read more

I had one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had at a salon at the Great Clips in Oceanside, CA (4140 Oceanside Blvd, Ste 137) on November 12, 2025. When I arrived, the manager checked me in and assigned me to a stylist who seemed a bit nervous. She reviewed my haircut notes, I get a simple cut every month, #4 on the sides and scissors on top to keep it around 2 inches. Instead of following those notes, she used a #2 trimmer on top and completely buzzed my hair down to almost nothing. When I pointed it out, she called over the manager, but the damage was already done. Then, out of nowhere, the stylist said, "Of course this would happen to me during an interview." That's when I realized she didn't even work there, she was cutting my hair as part of an interview. The manager never once asked my permission to let a non-employee, and possibly unlicensed person, cut my hair. I couldn't believe it. Eventually, an actual employee took over, apologized, and tried to fix it the best she could. The manager didn't charge me, but that doesn't make up for the fact that a complete stranger who doesn't even work for Great Clips was allowed to practice on me without my consent. This isn't just bad customer service, it's a serious issue of professionalism, safety, and accountability. I've already reported this to Great Clips corporate and plan to file with the Better Business Bureau as well. The employee who tried to fix my haircut was kind, but management allowing something like this to happen is unacceptable. I won't be returning to any Great Clips after this experience. read more

This location really needs to hire more staff ! 1 employee to cut hair on Sunday's is NOT enough! 87 minute wait. Really not worth it. Service is poor and honestly I can't blame the poor stylist she's by herself and under a ton of pressure. Wherever the owner is they need to be hands on helping in situations like this I counted 3 other customers walking out without adding their name to the list to wait for a cut. Sad to see management/owners not helping their employees in times of need. Another customer shared with me this location was closed 3 times this week. Maybe they should consider closing this location so it doesn't give other customers that are near by false hope. I usually have to wait a couple days or weeks for my hair to grow out before I start to like it but Judy cut it perfect, styled it on the spot, and had me walking out with an insane amount of confidence. Woman #2 left to the back and I was left waiting for over 10 minutes(waitlist said 0 minutes the whole time), had to leave before I was able to get my hair cut. read more

I've been coming to this Great Clips for over three years now, since moving to Oceanside. I've always liked the stylists here, though they seem to come and go. Always new faces. Now in a post-COVID environment, things have changed. Only one guest is allowed inside per stylist and there is no waiting inside. Use the Great Clips app to not only check-in ahead of time, but to see how busy it is. When salons were allowed to open up again, the waits were 120+ min. Now things have appeared to settle down. Getting your haircut with a mask on is a little annoying. It's tougher for the stylist to cut around the ears, but not impossible. And I'm not sure if they're washing or rinsing hair anymore. read more

If I could give a half star I would. Normally, I go to the Great Clips in Oceanside by Barnes and Noble. However, this store is closer to my home. I have had solid experiences at the Barnes and Noble location. Like Luann's May 2023 review below, today I experienced the same problem. One employee was practicing on wig cutting, the sole employee that could cut hair when I checked in was giving her style tips with the wig, and others were waiting. The qualified hair stylist told me to come back in 35 minutes, as another qualified stylist was due to report in by then. I hung out at Mc Donalds, drank a Diet Coke and came back. She told me that she got behind, had to take another customer, and to wait again. During this time, the second employee that was supposed to be the relief was practicing on a wig, before she took another customer. Really, when they were already short staffed? A man named Steven arrived after I was told to wait beyond the 35 minutes. Steven was told he too would have to now wait 35 minutes. At this point, I took myself off the list, went to the Hairport nearby, paid more, however immediately got an awesome haircut and stylist. Worth it! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place unless you want to be lied to or incur a l-o-n-g wait time. read more

I've been coming to this particular Great Clips for the past few years. I have an unconventional hairstyle that I created myself, and the stylist I worked with, Brenda, did a fantastic job of bringing my vision to life! I get compliments on my haircut all the time, and I tell everyone you don't have to spend a ton of money in order to get a great haircut. The online app checkin feature makes it easy to leave your house when you're ready to be seen as opposed to super long wait times in uncomfortable lobby chairs. The price is already great, but they offer discount cards a few times per year that can make haircuts cost as little as $9.99! I stock up when they're available, and it makes my haircuts even more affordable. The staff are courteous and professional...and they also offer a guarantee that means if you don't like it, they will fix it for free...just come back! I'd take this place over an overpriced, fancy salon any day...it's a much better experience, same quality haircuts, no long wait times, and completely affordable. They also don't try to push you to buy their salon hair products like most other places do, which I fully appreciate. I don't like pressure sales, but if I DO ask for a recommendation for a product they carry, they're always spot on and get me the perfect product every time to suit my needs. If zero was a rating to choose for this establishment, I would. I never want to bring a small business down but when they can't or won't provide the asked for services, it is not a business that is trying to exceed customer expectations. My husband and son decided to come here, due to short wait times. What a sad mistake. My 10 year old said how rough the man was cutting his hair. Pulling his ears down hard and went WAAAAAYY to high on the sides and all up the back of his head. Not what they asked for. He cried after they got in the car saying how the guy was rough, knicked his ear with the clippers and just rushing as fast as he could. The man's name was Ricky. It's such an ugly cut. I'm fairly pissed that they think as stylists the cut looked good. My husband had Desiree who seemed like she couldn't push him out fast enough and looking at her clean up job by his ear, my cat could've done a better job with their claws. They both HATED their cuts and I hope this helps others before they decide coming here. I don't normally leave reviews, but I felt so disrespected it reached that level for me. This review is for salon number 8597 Maria was great, so this review has nothing to do with her. This is more about the lack of customer service from the other female employee working that day, next to Maria's station. Today I had checked in online like I always do when coming to great clips. I've been coming to great clips for about ten plus years now. I walked in and stood by the register, like I normally do when entering a great clips, and what I believe is standard protocol when entering an establishment. When I walked in I made eye contact with the employee next Maria's station. This employee was the only employee in the front area. There were other customers around. I stood by the register for about 3-5 minutes. This employee was about ten feet away from me while cutting a woman's hair and was not able to attend to me, which I certainly understand. However, my problem is she never even acknowledged my existence, despite knowing I was there. No "hi welcome in," "I'll be right with you," or "have a seat and someone will be right with you." No acknowledgment I was there or direction given. No respect for another human being. It was humiliating and embarrassing. I'm a very understanding and laid back guy, and would have been understanding if she wasn't able to attend to me, but quite frankly the blatant and conscious effort to avoid me is not okay. I won't be returning to this location, and honestly it makes me question coming back to great clips at all. read more

Happy followers as far as Stephanie goes. We have followed her from the mission location now to this location where she has been cutting my sons hair for several year's. Stephanie has since taken my husband as a client and most recently my 5 year old too. I have not cut my youngest daughters hair and because we wanted to donate her long hair to "kids with hair loss" who better to do the honor but Stephanie. I keep my hair very short for my combat arms job, so I would get my hair cut here about monthly. This felt like gender discrimination. Almost three hears since shaving my head and donating hair to cancer victims through Pantene's "Beautiful Lengths" program where they make and donate wigs. The research paid off, Stephanie, my stylist did an awesome job, gave me great tips and is a wonderful lady (mother of 5!). I have been here a few times for my son and myself. All of those visits were fine. I went in alone this weekend and had a bad experience. I believe the stylist name is Kim-she was wearing glasses and is African American. Shortly after she got to work she mentioned that my hair was dry. I had it colored (bleached) a few months ago and was in need of a trim. She then asked me what kind of shampoo and conditioner I used. Of course, she wanted to push her product on me and actually walked away from me when I was in the chair to find the product she recommended which was annoying. When she would comb my hair and her brush would get stuck she would say "dry, dry!" This happened about three times during the visit. When the cut was coming to an end she sprayed the leave in conditioner that she recommended and made a comment about how it was already working!! The cut was ok, but the rude complaints and roughness were not appreciated. I did need some more Leave in Conditioner since I am was running out and after all of those rude remarks I did feel obliged to buy the product so I did. Bottom line if you have dry hair and need a trim don't go to Kim! read more

Came in for a haircut this morning to get ready for a wedding this afternoon and had a great experience. I was worried there might be a wait since it was a Saturday - but there was no wait. After years of trial and error I figured out that the cut I want is the the 4-8 (4 on sides, 8 on the top) clipper cut, blended. The blended is key and that's where the artistry comes in. Usually that ends up working out but it can vary by who is doing the cutting. My stylist Jessica executed perfectly. And my toughest critic, my wife, said it looks great! OVER CHARGED! Had a hair cut and blow dry today at great clips in Oceanside. I was charged 18.00 dollars for the hair cut, and 75.00 dollars for a blow dry!!! My hair was not styled, just blow dry. Brutal haircut tonight! Imagine asking for a steak and getting a salad. The elderly woman from Temecula is past her prime. She was really proud to talk about her 30+ years of experience, but when that shaky hand started there was no turning back. I was very clear on what I didn't want, but that didn't matter to her. The haircut was free because it was so dicked up. I tipped 10$ to get her ass back to Temecula where I hope she stays. Apparently there is no work between Temecula and here. Wow!!!! Worst service ever! First off I have been here many times and also brought my entire family in for haircuts over the last few years. Some of the haircuts have really sucked and some of been average. The location and proximity to my house has kept me coming back. Most of the people that work here clearly hate their jobs and it's very obvious that they are over-worked and under-staffed, always! Checked-in online with a 35 min wait time so I finish my dinner and head over. I assumed checking in online would save me some time when I got there. Arrived about 10 mins before and waited another 35 so total of an hour wait time! When finally it was supposed to be my turn, as the screen clearly showed. They then proceeded to take not 1 but 2 people ahead of me that had arrived after me and didn't even check in online! I finally I lost it on the girl because they didn't even catch their error until I pointed it out!!! No apology was offered for wasting my time or the clear error on their part!
