I would not go here, especially if you have any sort of textured hair. The stylists focus on speed, not quality. They do not take time to get to know your hair before they start to scissor or clip it. My husband went to get a trim, and the stylist said he didn't have long enough hair (?) to get a trim. She cut some off the top, but then just left the rest the same length. One side of his head has longer hair than the other side. The hair is still sticking up in the back. The stylist then gave him a comb to style his own hair. He left feeling super frustrated. I do not trust that this place could even fix this mistake, so now we have to go somewhere else to pay someone to fix it. read more

I hadn't cut my hair in three years and I was over due! So while visiting family in Carlsbad yesterday I popped into this shop for a cut. It was really cool to find out that they have a hair salon in my hometown called haircuts plus as well. This location does remind me of like a Supercuts but a step above . The shop itself is bigger than most and the ladies there were really nice. Now I am not one to get anything fancy like highlights, dyes or special services but I thought I would at least treat myself with a wash, cut and blow dry ($40). Sara was awesome and did a great job. I am really easy though and didn't want anything extreme, just needed to cut off a good foot of hair. But she made it look really cute ! I could have dyed my hair and home but I thought I'd treat myself to getting it professionally done. the tall blonde hair chick has done my hair before and I liked it but this time, I almost felt like this was done on purpose. I had hair dye on my hands, forearms, all on my face. I will call to get a refund or partial refund. Took my son here and his hair was tangled in the back. The hair stylist says to her manager "do I really have to do this?" Manager looks back and gives a grimace face. They turned my son away telling me to come back after I take him home to detangle his hair. I only spend five minutes in the care combing his hair out and got all the tangled out. Really?? They could not spend 5 minutes to get the tangled out? After combing out his his hair, took him to sports clips. Absolutely awful! Never bring your kids here! Regina YELLED at my 7 year old while cutting his hair! He did an amazing job staying still compared to any other kid his age for the most part, but the first time he was sliding down in the chair a little, she started yelling at him that if you do this I'm not going to cut your hair and that's it!!! Poor little guy was so scared and traumatized. I could see tears in his eyes while he was sitting there and he started crying the moment we got out of there. First time coming here. My mother needed a haircut so I figured why not myself also sense I do need one. Not sure who cut my mother's hair but she did a great job as did Erika. Shampoo is also a great final touch to end it. There was a product that was used on my hair. I don't remember the name (and didn't ask ‍) but it was not a gel that looks greasy but a paste that looks more natural. Unfortunately I'm not in the area often, but I would highly recommend getting your haircut here if you're looking for a place or just visiting. I've been to this location many times and gotten decent (not, like, mind blowing) but nice looking cuts. I go to a more expensive salon for major cuts but occasionally stop in here for trims, and it's always worked out well for me. I've also gotten my color done here over the years and that wasn't the best, but not a nightmare. But today my experience was a nightmare. I'm growing my hair out, and any ladies who have ever had a pixie cut know what an ordeal that is. I made that clear to my stylist and told her I just wanted the nape of my neck trimmed and the rest very lightly trimmed. I thought she understood- she repeated it back to me and even said "like an A-line shape". Yes, perfect! But that's not what she did. What she did doesn't have a name, but if I had to describe it, I'd have to say something along the lines of if Ellen Degeneres skipped a few trims. It's awful. I left the salon crying, and I cannot stress enough, I'm not that into my looks, I don't take these things too seriously. I'm not a drama queen. This is just that bad. I'm not putting the stylist's name, because I genuinely think she just had an off day and I don't want to be a jerk. She's actually done my hair before and it was fine. Walk in no appointments! I originally wanted bangs but we discussed it thoroughly & decided my hair was to curly & I'm too low maintenance for them. I left with an amazing layered haircut better then I could have imagined! I love how Jeanelle calls everyone handsome and beautiful, it's super charming, She is rad. Getting my hair colored was a different story. Came out brassy, too light and contrasty. The highlights where supposed to look natural and when I asked about it they said it would be $25 to fix. If i could give it zero stars i would. I can honestly say this was the single worst haircut ive ever gotten. They called my name up and this asian lady in a black dress takes me to my seat. I asked for a very simple cut, a high taper, leave the curls on top , and a line up. A high taper normally starts at the bottom with the number zero and increased in legth making smooth transitions. Apparently this girl didnt understand the damn assigment cuz she just left my whole sides with a number 0 and cut my curls flat like wtf who doesnt know how to do that, i kept trying to correct her and she just kept going on her merry way. Im never coming back and that girl should be fired if they don't wanna lose more customers. read more

Living in Carlsbad I've driven past this place quite a few times but finally decided to go in and I'm glad I did. My hair was a hot mess, and bangs were all messed up due to the previous salon I had been at. Jeanelle is awesome! She blended my bangs into my layers so beautifully, along with cutting and styling my hair. My husband was so impressed he ended up getting his hair cut and high-lighted on the spot as well! So I've been needing to find an affordable, but professional salon for a while now. I found this one on a whim as I was looking for a salon that could perm my hair for me. The first thing I noticed when I stepped in was that it smelled like weed, which isn't a big problem for me, but it could've been for someone else. Another thing is that, although I was helped immediately, it took me 2 hours to finally get my hair started. After an hour of waiting, Two (Too?) pulled me into her chair before realising she didn't know how to do a perm, so she kind of pushed me onto someone else who pushed me to someone else who came in at 10:20 -- keep in mind I've been at the salon since 9. I waited until this new girl, Sharlene, came in. My hair got washed by Two and I was sat in the chair while Sharlene put colour in another woman's hair. Around 10:45, she helped me pick a rod size, very thoroughly explaining to me what each would make my hair look like. She then rolled my hair for me, applied the solution, all in about 20 minutes, then I had to sit for 20 minutes while the solution worked its magic. Afterwards, my hair had to be washed again. Instead of revealing bouncy curls like I expected, it came out a thick beachy wave -- which is still okay!!! And I actually love it a lot and that's usually how I curl my hair anyway. I think it had more to do with my hair just not taking it then Sharlene -- but she did an amazing job and I'd definitely be coming back to get my hair permed again and cut read more

I was referred by a neighbor and asked for busy Lucia. Today was my second haircut with her. She did exactly what I asked, made a suggestion which I took, and was quick and efficient. I had photos of my haircut from before, and we are working back to that haircut again. I came from going to a ritzy salon in Encinitas for a few years that charged me $65 per short haircut. For that, I had to listen to the hairstylist rag on about her life, former salon, woes and family for the whole hour. Sometimes discussions got uncomfortable. More of the TMI, ya know? Well, I lost my job, didn't want to be in that city near my old job, nor could I afford the cost. In a personal service industry, you should be listening to your customer talk. LOL I did massage for over a decade, and that's the way it worked for my clients. :) I tried another shop in Oceanside, not that impressed and paid $45. Here I pay $16 (no blow-dry) and $23 with, since I haven't done a Sr. Discount yet (I think that's Mon.-Thurs. 9 to 1). I'm perfectly pleased with The Perfect Cut and Lucia. She gets calls the entire time I'm there to schedule appointments, and has been there 12 years and knows her stuff. And apparently, her clients know she does, too. This is my fourth barber in four hair cuts in the area. This place comes in last so far. I do not recommend it to anyone. For $16 they are 3 times too high for the service they offer. Worst cut in 30 years. The hair cut was extremely painful. I've never experienced a painful cut before, but the pressure on my head warranted the need for a helmet. I got out of there as fast as possible. The net result also gave me side burns at completely different lengths and angles. So far I can't find a good barber in North San Diego County. Lucia completely knows what she's doing! I have long curly hair and wanted long layers with no length taken off and she did the exact, " perfect cut" on me! It's fresh and subtle and bouncy. She also cut my sons extremely curly Shaun white looking mop, which was in need of debulking with no length removed so it doesn't poof out even more. She removed tons of bulk without removing length. In other words, she really listens!! She doesn't just do her own thing. She has been cutting hair for 20 years and you can see her confidence come through as she handles your hair. I was very reluctant to get my hair cut: I came here before about 2-3 years ago and was pretty neutral about the way my hair was cut. But then I realized I needed to relayer and re-trim my long hair and read Krista's review on Yelp. As hesitant as I was to come in, I decided to just do it. They don't do appointments, so I called ahead to see if Michelle was working. I came in with my mom and my sister and we got serviced right away. Definitely bring in a picture if you are unsure how to explain yourself. I brought in a pic on my ipod and Michelle took the time to make sure she got what I was talking about. I got my hair washed and usually I don't like to have it washed at salons because they splash water all over me, but Michelle was very gentle and kept the water in the sink. She massages the scalp very well and I almost fell asleep in the chair because it felt so relaxing. While she cut my hair, she told me exactly what she was cutting. I opted for straight across bangs and she took the time to make them symmetrical. My sister and mom got their hair cut by Judith and she is very good also. She is very personable and cuts hair as good as Michelle. Overall, good service, very satisfying cuts, and good price. $3 for shampoo, $16 for a cut, and $6-$7 for a blow-dry. read more
