I went in and asked for a bob haircut. I showed her a picture of what she wanted and the woman pretty much cut my hair straight and finished. It was an asymmetric cut. I asked and tried to explain. I just cut a bit more and it left a long section of hair meaningless...it looks ridiculous

Had worst experience with great clips in lewis centre today. The lady who did my hair cut completely removed a patch of my hair.

Not a professional and high-quality service as expected…read more I've been a client at Hair Artists for several years, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I arrived on time for my appointment, but was asked (while en route) to come 45 minutes later due to the stylist running behind from a previous client. When I arrived, my scheduled wash, cut, and style was changed to a dry cut to "move things along." While this was presented as a small savings, it ultimately meant receiving less than what I had booked--without any real benefit to me. The entire appointment felt rushed, and I left feeling like I had to accommodate the salon's schedule rather than receive the level of care and attention expected from a high-quality, professional salon. This was especially frustrating given that the delay was caused by another client, yet the impact was passed on to me. This also wasn't my first experience with scheduling issues here, which made this visit more concerning. This salon is lowering its standard. Rethink your decision to go to this salon. It's expensive, and not worth the price.

Long-Time Client Left Feeling Undervalued and Underserved…read more I've been going to Hair Artists for nearly two years and have generally had positive experiences, which makes this most recent visit especially disappointing. Along with writing this review very difficult to write. On my way to my scheduled 1:00 PM appointment with Ren, I received a call asking me to arrive 45 minutes later because she was running behind. I later learned that the delay was due to the previous client arriving 45 minutes late. This was inconvenient for my schedule, so I called the salon to let them know I was already on my way. I was told they could "accommodate" me, which was frustrating, as I was the one arriving on time for my scheduled appointment. Before I even arrived, the situation had already created stress. Upon arrival, I was informed that my appointment would be changed from a wash, cut, and style to a dry cut so they could move things along more quickly. This was not what I had scheduled or wanted. Essentially, I was being asked to adjust my service to fit their schedule, with no real benefit to me. Nancy at the front desk mentioned, "We'll only charge you for the cut and blow dry--it's a $20 savings," but this did not reflect the experience I had booked or expected. In reality, it wasn't a true discount, as a blow-dry in place of a full style is already priced lower--at $20 cheaper --so while it may have sounded like a savings, it wasn't one. At that point, I felt like I had to accommodate the situation rather than receive the level of professional service I had booked. I came in expecting the time, attention to detail, and overall experience that have kept me returning to this salon. Instead, the appointment felt rushed and transactional, rather than thoughtful and client-focused. I ultimately agreed to the dry cut, even though I would have preferred the wet cut (as my hair was filthy). The experience felt hurried, and the quality reflected that. During the haircut, Ren told me that the previous client had arrived 45 minutes late and that she had just started her service when I arrived (on time), which raised the question of why that delay was passed on to me rather than managing her previous client differently. This is also not the first time I've experienced scheduling issues. At a prior visit, my appointment was delayed by 30 minutes because my stylist arrived late. Unfortunately, this pattern made this visit feel even more disappointing. What had previously been an enjoyable and satisfying experience felt stressful and frustrating this time. I left feeling as though I was the inconvenience rather than a valued client who had arrived on time and deserved the full service she had scheduled. I do want to acknowledge that the salon manager handled the situation professionally--my service was fully credited, an apology was given, and assurance was given that the issue would be addressed. I appreciate that effort. However, the overall experience was already impacted, and it has made me reconsider returning.

Let's start with my personal health. I was on steroids for a rash and needed to take my medication WITH food--doctor's orders. When I asked for a lunch break, they refused and told me, "salon girls don't need to eat. I was forced to take my medication without food and got extremely sick as a result. That alone should be illegal. The grading system here is a joke. They grade you based on your appearance -- whether your makeup is done, whether your hair meets their standards. If you don't look the way they want you to look, they send you home and tell you that you have to be back by a certain time or you get a write-up, or you're not allowed back in at all. Write-ups are handed out for cussing, not performing tasks to their liking, or not meeting their ever-changing appearance standards. Those write-ups turn into suspensions, which set you back on your hours -- hours you are PAYING for. Speaking of hours--this school will change your hours and how many you need to make up whenever it's convenient for THEM, not you. They drag out your program specifically to squeeze more money out of you. And if you signed for a used kit at enrollment, they'll eventually tell you that you "earned" a new kit--without mentioning it costs $3,500 until you're already locked in. On top of that, if you are somehow terminated, they will find a way to make you owe $13,000 to the school, even though that amount is not included anywhere in the paperwork you signed when you enrolled. This is one of the biggest cosmetology school scams operating right now. They do not care if you show up. They do not care about you as a student or a person. They care about one thing: your money. If you are not a favorite of one of the 21-year-old teachers, your experience at this school will be completely unfair. Teacher's pets get special privileges, can mess around all day, do absolutely nothing, and face zero consequences. Meanwhile, other students are being written up and suspended for minor things. And yes--students can SNITCH on each other in exchange for special privileges. They have built a culture of favoritism and manipulation that would make you think you were back in middle school, not enrolled in a licensed cosmetology program. The dress code changes every single day. There is no consistent rule list. The rules change every month, so you are constantly being penalized for something that was perfectly acceptable the week before. Customers have made sexual comments to students at this school. Brittany knows about it. Nothing happens. Those customers are never told they cannot return. The school does not protect its students. They do not care about mental health. They do not care about bullying. They do not care about racism. If you bring any of these issues forward, you will essentially be told to suck it up and that everyone struggles. That is their solution. They do not care if you are sick. They do not care if you have a funeral to attend. They will make you come in regardless and will not give you time off under any real circumstances. The sanitation standards at this place are appalling. It is a walking health code violation. I am genuinely shocked that more regulatory action has not been taken against them. This school is run more like a sorority than an accredited institution. The amount of gossip that comes directly from the so-called owners and teachers, shared with and about other students, is embarrassing and deeply unprofessional. These are supposed to be adults in positions of authority. The girls who say they enjoyed this school are, without a doubt, the ones who received favoritism and special treatment from the start. For everyone else, this place is another form of hell. Do not enroll here. Working at a Chinese sweatshop would be a better use of your time and money than ever setting foot in the Salon Institute. You deserve a school that actually invests in you; this is not it.

I appreciated that. Check in was very fast. I waited less than 2 minutes for Zoe. At reception, they have a pretty wide selection of hair products for sale. The salon was set up nicely and was clean. Although they were busy it didn't seem too loud so that I felt I was able to communicate with Zoe about what I wanted without a ton of distraction going on. She was was very friendly and efficient. She was talkative but not gossipy. She gave me exactly what I asked for and edited the cut where I asked with ease. If there were any criticism to be made it would be that I wasn't recommend any products or informed of what was being used. But that may be a plus for you if you don't like feeling you're being "up sold" during your visit. Another was that this salon offers levels of experience with their different stylists at varying price points. I found this out through their website. Reception didn't inform me of this when I made my appointment. Checkout was fast as well. Although they do take credit/debit cards you can not attach the tip to your payment for service. You must use cash or if your stylist has square you can tip them directly. Over all, I very much enjoyed my experience and will definitely return.
