I had only been to one other Great Clips before - a dirty little shop with no AC or ventilation in National City near San Diego - so was a little wary of going here. But it's got a good location near my home, and the Yelp reviews were good, so I decided to try it out. I was very pleasantly surprised. The shop was really nice and clean, and the price ($13 for a men's haircut) was about the cheapest I'd paid in maybe a decade. But it got even better from there: the stylist informed me that keep notes on your haircut histories, so that they can "fine tune" the process to get it exactly how you want it. Beyond that, I was surprised by how good the stylist herself was. A few of the questions she asked about what I wanted my hair to do after the cut showed me that she knew her stuff - they were questions which made a lot of sense, but that no other stylist had asked me before - and the haircut was provided with skill and speed, And then as I was leaving, the final cherry on top: I saw that you can buy haircut cards for future haircuts for $10. Can't beat that (seriously, $10 - that's awesome :p). read more

It was only by chance that I found great clips. Made an appointment at my usual place but they had just moved and was being inspected. Had to wait longer than I had time for so two other nice ladies offered a coupon to great clips up the road so I thanked them and had a awesome cut and very friendly staff. I've experienced better is this rating. Although I have to drive hours to get it, the difernce is "details", sections the quality is in the details. With cross checking your own hair cut with balance. When the only thing it takes to get a license these days is the number of hours you spend in a room to get a license. The quality cutter or master cutter is the one who take the time has the interest in learning their craft their "art" is in taking the interest in learning through tutorials, guides, maps of the sections the difference in angles you pull the hair out and the angles at the ends where you cut each section. the hair cut will look ok at first but wont hold up through the end of the day. I would pay $200 more than the charge for the same person to cut my hair i would pay the difference and drive hours less if they would pay attention to their sissors but i can't offer better sissors to cut with w/o offending or show a turorial w/o offending. Because so many say 'just show me a pic and i can do it. but when you cross check any hair cut & see the waves of difference in the sections and the lack of texture which helps the cut move and wiggle. break loose some at the tips. why cant anyone try to keep up with their "ART" it is an art. it's almost paint by numbers but not totally. it's not ahrd but sectiosn are important. I know some will know who i am but i'm serious watching the section by section all are important... all. Continued education is important. There is so much more education out there available now that never existed before. Shop owners should make it either more available or a requirement because basic school isn't enough! read more

I tried uploading pics ..bit unable to...I gave a star review.. Because she did ask some questions about " how I wanted it cut" ( my hair was already short ..and grown out..almost enough to make a small pony tail.. Very thick..i wanted it to be thinned out in the thick areas..textured .and s to soften my prominent jaw line and nose.. ) um..at end of cut.. I thought I would see hair with a bother mirrorshe suggested that I use fingers to check how hair. The room was dim and. Later noticed hair in wrt ven and too short on top..and the thick parts under ..near neck.. Was not touched.. When I try to comb it.. Hair shifts and either flips out or toward and touches face.. I've had decent cuts.. I called and let them know of my dissatisfaction and they were welcoming for me to go back and someone else would fix it..but. I don't enough hair or courage to take another risk..so.. I'm stuck with this ..until hair grows and I find someone that can cut hair properly.. I think that the stylists license should be at stake..based on the work done.. Because this happens too often. read more

I don't know why but the quality of customer service has gone down drastically since I worked there. I went today to get a haircut, I checked in online, when I got there I was barely greeted,had to stand at the counter for a few minutes before they came up to check me in. Then they didn't even ask what services I wanted or if I was waiting for anyone. I asked how long it would be for the floor manager( I don't know her name), and I was told a couple minutes, mind you I have already waited 30 minutes at that point! Then I sat there for another 30 minutes and was not even acknowledged, so I left. What a wonderful thing! Waiting an hour for a haircut to In fact not even get one! I wonder if the franchise owner knows how his customers are being treated! Also I was not the only customer that left because of the same stylist sitting in the offfice on the phone with the store manager! They both should know that customers come first! Paperwork can wait, or at least that is what I was told as a manger for this place! read more

Checked in online, it said my wait would be approximately 8 minutes when I arrive at the store 15 minutes later I'm second on the checkin and the lady says it'll be a 45 minute wait. I asked her why it says less then ten minutes online and almost an hour when I get there and the lady rolls her eyes at me. First bad experience there but she was so bad I won't be coming back, should have got her name but I had to get out of there before I made an ass out of myself. read more

Everything was fine up until I got home and took a close look. The lady that cut my hair (older woman with blonde hair, sorry forgot her name) gave me completely uneven sides! I asked for blended layers and instead she gave me staircase looking layers. I could've gotten over that if it wasn't for the fact that she cut one side of my head shorter than the other. I couldn't have been more clear when I told her how I wanted my hair cut, but I guess even layers is too much to ask. read more

Along with burning my neck and sitting with perm solution for 45 minutes because of distraction in the shop Im left with frizzy hair, not a good soft perm with some curls......after mentioning twice my neck was burning there was no urgency to get the solution removed....had my neck been wrapped with a towel my sweatshirt too wouldn't had been soaked with perm solution that ruined it......think twice before dishing out 70+ dollars for mediocre service...I will never use a great clips read more

One of hthe few olaces ive had my hair cut and it always looks good. The onli e checknin is grest, the staff is grest, all in they get an A grade. Went to the san jacinto one once, bad hair cut. Used to go to that fantastic sams joint until a coulple years ago, got fed up with walking in and getting ignored. Not so at this great clips. This great clips is clean with friendly staff. I've gotten my hair cut twice from the same girl. First time was amazing. Went in to get a little shorter and Ashley ( one of the managers) cut my hair totally uneven, left my hair styled how it was and cut one side shorter than the other. While cutting my hair she cut her finger with her scissors. I've never been to any place where they have done that with so many years of experience. I called the store to speak with a manager and I ended up speaking with her. She did not apologize or offer a refund, just for me to come back and they will fix it. She didn't seem interested in making sure my hair was done right. Def not letting her touch mine or my daughters hair ever. read more

I've been coming here for at least five or six years and having Amelia cut my hair exclusively. I will wait for her every time because she is the best and definitely worth it!! I sure hope her employers realize what an asset she is. Love her and love getting such quality for such an inexpensive price. Amelia deserves five stars and the only reason I gave it four is because of Great Clips decision to no longer accept expired coupons which is a real bummer. I will continue going to Great Clips but my daughter says she will no longer go due to the above change in policy. She also has had several bad experiences with getting her son's hair cut badly and having to go home and fix it herself. I'm going to find out the name of the girl who cut his hair last, which was very recently, as this was the last straw for my daughter.
