Most of my adult life I've been battling my naturally espresso colored hair and my burning desire to be a blonde bombshell. I've gone to stylist who made my hair platinum, but at the cost of an inflamed scalp and extreme breakage. I've been to other stylist who were so intimidated by my naturally dark hair that I ended up a brassy mess. When I found Karla I thought, "this woman is a wizard!" Obviously before I commited to having my hair done. I social media stalked her page. I sat in disbelief as I saw post after post of women with hair as dark or darker than mine being transformed into icy queens. Still in my mind doubt lingered.... "what about the integrity of their hair? Yeah, their hair looks beautiful in pictures. Is it too good to be true?" Inspite of my fears and nagging doubts I booked an appointment. I walked into the salon at 8 am on a Wednesday morning. I was anxious and hopeful not knowing what to expect. Karla was warm and inviting, she offered me coffee. I declined and she got right to work. She noticed my hair issues without me having to tell her. She was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. The entire process took nearly 6 hours. Lemme tell you! It was worth it. I walked out of the salon with a renewed confidence. For once in my life I felt like the blonde I had always hoped to be. My hair was so beautiful I was almost in disbelief. I know, I know, but how did the hair feel? Well for the first time after having my hair colored I wasnt worried about it snapping off or feeling dry or brittle. Where do I start! I have been going to Karla since her Ambience days. Before I met Karla I had colored my own hair and I wanted something new. I actually found Karla through Yelp and everyone was raving about her work. I looked her up on IG and fell in love with her work. I booked my appointment ASAP. I showed her exactly what I wanted and I told her what colors I used to color my hair. She was very honest and told me that she didn't want to get my hair as light as I wanted it because it would damage my hair. (I went to cosmo school and know this is true.) I trusted her and my hair color came out pretty light. I was super happy to have found my hair dresser. I usually do my hair color once a year because her work lasts that long. I showed Karla a picture of what I wanted (brown hair with caramel lights) and got BLACK hair. My hair had never looked so bad before. I got it fixed 2 days after and looks beautiful now, the lady that fixed my hair even asked if I went to a professional salon because there was so much bleeding in between my hair where Karla attempted to do some low lights. On top of that first thing she did was criticized my hair and the fact that I was already thinking about changing it 6 months down the road. Also she has a veey unprofessional attitude, I understand that she is the owner but she could watch her vocabularu and conversational tooics a little more. Where do I start... I was very scared to go to KArla as my hair is my baby, I hardly let anyone cut it & only one person has ever colored my hair. But DANG karla is a hair GODDESS she has some magical hands. She literally went inside my head & created the most beautiful hair.
