First showing up to the Great Clips, it was a tiny building in between a bunch of other shops and stores, so I wasn't expecting much. Once I got in though, the place seemed quite welcoming. From the lively atmosphere that the workers contributed to to the nice looking and clean place on the inside, the inside of the store was appealing. Now with the haircut, I was quite satisfied. They asked me if I wanted the same as last time, and they did have the records. I told them yes, but after they had done my sides, I decided I wanted the top different, and they were fine with me changing. It turned out great! Overall, I am satisfied with the service, satisfied with my haircut, and happy that the workers were very personable. If one thing needed improvement, it would be to make the outside more appealing to attract more customers. If anybody needs a quick haircut with satisfying service, I recommend this place. read more

Perhaps I'm a new yelper just itchin' for his first negative review. But I don't think so. Bottom 10% of haircuts, ever. Hyperactive stylist was primarily focused on bantering with colleagues, and planning the next break. She described my hair in terms of Great Clips "math": "It (the database) says you have a 3 on the side, but we could give you a 2-1/2 on the nape, and it says you have a 5 on the top, but it's 2 or 3 inches at the cowlick, and it couldn't be a 5 'cause hair only grows a half-inch a month, it's more than a 5, so ...." Remember those old "paint-by-number" art kits? I think this was a "cut-by-number" that went terribly wrong. read more

Went for a trim, the stylist barely took any off, the top of my hair is uneven, the sides were not blended and stick out because of the natural curl in my hair. I will NOT be back.... read more

I have had nothing but bad experiences here, but a few weeks ago was my last time coming here. I've gotten the stylist Mary the past several times. She has been very reluctant to cut my hair in a "masculine" way, which is what I have wanted the past several times, but I recently gave up and decided to grow it out. All I wanted this time was for the back (which had turned into a mullet, easily three inches longer than everything else) to be evened out with the sides, and my bangs brought back. I even had a picture of what I was asking for. When I had my phone out to show her, she put the cover on top of it and started fastening it, clearly ignoring me. So I again brought it out and started explaining what I wanted. She asked if I was growing it out and I said yes. "Well, cutting it defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Are you even going to keep up with this?" And she started cutting before I could say that her attitude had me no longer comfortable with her doing my hair. She made no attempt to talk to me, and flat out refused to cut my bangs as short as I asked - just above the eyebrow. So now it's been two weeks and they're back in my eyes. However, my boyfriend had his hair cut by her directly after and her demeanor toward him was entirely the opposite of what I experienced - she was friendly and talkative, and didnt demean him for the choice of haircut he wanted. This is not the first bad experience, but it certainly is the last. I emailed Great Clips about this, and was told that they are independently owned stores and they'd contact the owner and have them contact me. That never happened and at this point, I dont want to hear the owners excuses. My hair is lopsided and my bangs are in my eyes, but the thought of going even to another salon to have it fixed has me filled with anxiety because of how I've been treated at this place. Mary is not a safe stylist for trans or non binary people who want a cut not "in line" with the gender they present as, and seeing that corporate wants to brush it off and not take any form of responsibility, as well as the owner doing nothing to reach out, I wont be wasting what little money I have at this salon, or any Great Clips, ever again. read more

My haircut is what I wanted but one of the stylists was walking around with her mask below her chin when not with clients. I wouldn't have chosen to go here if I had known that not all the stylists were abiding by safety recommendations. It defeats the purpose if you don't wear your mask at all times when in the vicinity of other people. I was uncomfortable with her passing the station I was seated at. read more

I had to go to this great clips to get a haircut. The place was clean,but when I went to get a haircut it ended up that she botched it. I even showed a picture of when I had the haircut in the past. How she managed to screw up after that I dont know. I wouldn't recommend that anyone go here for any future haircuts as the staff cannot cut hair right. read more

I always try to make it here for hair cuts. Contrary to a previous reviewer, Mary is my favorite stylist. She cut my hair in December before the shut down, and It kept it's shape right up until the last few weeks. She also remembers what we want, and once helped another stylist know how to cut my husband's hair when he went ahead with another person while she did mine. read more

My usual place to get my hair cut. They don't do coloring. I rarely have to wait for a stylist (& I don't sign in online). The stylists are friendly and like to chat, both with you and with each other. I have a simple style that doesn't require much fussing: 6 on the sides, 1" on top. Math isn't hard. read more

If I could give this store a negative score I would. I went in on Dec 16th for a simple haircut and got the worse chop job of my life. I had to leave early the next morning to catch I flight for a vacation/Christmas and had to hide my hair under a cap the whole time. I went to the store upon return and although they agreed with me the cut is horrid, they refuse to reimburse me for what it will cost me to try to fix it. Not only did the stylist do this to my hair, the other stylists there that day let me walk out looking like this. I wouldn't let them touch my hair again ever. This place is not worth the risk. I went to this Great Clips after I called an explained that I had thin hair an wanted someone with experience in cutting this type of hair. Girl said all of our stylists have been cutting hair for at least 20 years. I said great I'll make up my mind an I may come in. I took a chance,so wrong. Stylist by name of Skylar checked me in(Didn't find out name till I checked out)She was rude only said What are we doing today, look up, look down Do you want it dried. Paid for hair cut and left. Got home an really looked at it an left side was a good 1/2 longer than right side. I had to recut my own hair after paying "an expert" to cut it. Not happy at all. No customer service or manners at all. Do not go to Skylar she is awful at cutting hair an customer service in my opinion read more

Hair cut is okay, but the station I was sat at was dirty and she tried to shave my face without asking. One of my sideburns was trimmed but not the other. read more

Update: I have been contacted by the district manager regarding my experience. Great Clips has apologized and made an effort to remedy the situation. I appreciate the effort, but It will take some time. Problem: My husband and I have been customers at the Edwardsville, Il Great Clips for over five years. On Sep. 28, 2019, around 12:45 pm, I stopped in for a haircut alone. I explained that my husband had been in a tractor accident and he would be coming in the following week. There was no wait and my cut took around 10 minutes. I was pleased with the service and left a 30% tip for my stylist. Later that afternoon my sister and her husband stopped by for a cut. My stylist asked in the open room if anyone remembered the woman who came in earlier, then gave a description, and then proceeded to tell the entire shop how I had "went on and on and on and on about my husband's accident," using a sarcastic tone. My sister spoke up and said her name is Kim and then she stopped. I believed that I had only mentioned the accident and gave no details. I am sorry that I mentioned it and I will never have a conversation with a stylist about any other subject other than hair ever again! I am embarrassed and angry over a 10 minute haircut. I would not recommend any business that criticizes its customers openly after they leave. Professionalism is dead. You have lost four customers over this; my sister, brother-in-law, husband, and myself. read more

Dont listen to these chumps. Im a guy, I never have to wait and the computer says I have a 3 inch around the sides and I like one inch on top so all the employees know how easy it is. If you know your own haircut and can give them directions for the first time, theyre great. John H. for some reason let them use the wrong guards. I get a great cut every time and it is fast, as long as the slightly wider lady isn't in charge of where theyre going to eat lunch :). read more
