DO NOT BOOK THIS ROOM After scrolling through hotels, I decided to go with the Great Cedar because of the price and the pictures of the room on Foxwoods website. When I entered my room, I was mortified. I almost went to the lobby, asked for a refund, and booked at the Fox Tower or Grand Pequot. It was creepy. I felt like I had just walked into an 80's porno. The room was 1000% outdated. The mattress was hard and the sheets felt like sandpaper. I found stains on the loveseat by the window and another one on the wall that looked like spit or something else. You only got about 10 tv channels. My husband and I had a free night recently and stayed here. It wasn't our first choice on the property, but a free room you can't be choosy. Valet and check in went fine on arrival. We got to our room really late and tried to turn on the TV. The remote lit up, but no picture. There was sound for a minute and then that was gone. We didn't waste too much time on it as the TV was obviously broken and it was too late to care. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is a bit outdated and the elevators definitely need an upgrade. I thought I'd be courteous and let the front desk know about the TV the next morning when we checked out. She responded as if my news was a bother to her. She mumbled something about telling someone, but not sure because she really didn't make eye contact with me. The bell desk and valet were basically a ghost town as I just saw 3 employees standing around looking at their cell phones instead of doing their job. We were the only valet client waiting at 9am and it took close to 15 mins! Unacceptable if you ask me. read more

My boyfriend and I were set to stay here for 1 night because we were at Foxwoods to see Mamma Mia. I knew check in was at 4, so when we arrived at 3:30, I knew I was a bit early. The lady at the front desk told me I could register early but check in was not until 4. However, she then proceeded to say that housekeeping has until 5 to finish cleaning the room. I was a little hesitant, but I said okay, thinking that the room would be ready at 4 (since that is what time the official check in is supposed to be). Also, upon registering, we were told that our confirmed king bed had to be downgraded to two queen beds because "they ran out of king beds." We made this reservation well over two months prior and I thought it was completely unacceptable that we were not given what we asked for and what was confirmed. Still, I did not make a stink about it and we sat down to wait for 4 o'clock. 4 o'clock rolls around and I go up to the guy at the front desk to see if our room is ready. He proceeds to tell me it is not and to check back around 4:30. I told him I have a dinner reservation at 5 and a show at 7, so I am a little pressed for time and check in is supposed to be at 4. He then tells me, "housekeeping is moving slower than usual." I was incredulous at his response and proceeded to wait even longer for my room that should have been prepared at 4. At the end of the day, our room was ready 25 minutes past check in time, we received two queens instead of one king, and the customer service was lacking to say the least. I'm here at the Great Cedar Hotel 10/23/21. At 2:50 am waiting for my sheets to be changed.When I pulled back the sheets there were stains on the top and bottom sheets. The pillow cases were also dirty. Also the supervisor that came took the same comforter off the bed that was on the dirty sheets and tried to put it back on the bed. She then broke down the other bed placing that comforter on the floor and also tried to place that back on the bed. This is a terrible hotel. The last time I was here something bit me.(Now I see why). No sleep tonight afraid of what may be on mattress. read more

For over $450 a night you get an outdated room with a sink and bathtub, beds that sound like crunching potato chips when you move, and no valet service. Having done difficulty walking that really sucked as nothing is close. I did notice that no one was winning anything either. You'd think you would hear a cheer once in awhile... nothing but frowns the entire evening. Oh well... you can't always win but for the cost I expected a more modern cheery stay. read more

Convenient location, especially for poker players. Front desk check in was very friendly and efficient. Room is okay, a little worn and dated but served its purpose for the night. The sofa in the window and lounge chair were stained and in need of replacement, I avoided sitting anywhere besides the clean and comfy beds. When I stay the night at a casino I typically plan on enjoying myself until the early morning, so it was nice to be able to pay a little extra for a 2 pm check out. However, the money felt wasted when housekeeping began their rounds around 9 AM. Very unprofessional. Shoutingto each other, horsing around, laughing and telling stories right outside the guest rooms. While I hadn't heard a peep from my neighbors at any time throughout the night or morning, the lack of sound proofing was evident when housekeeping serviced an adjoining room at 9 am. Could hear every word of conversation in loud tones as well as lots of unnecessary slamming and banging. Instead of using a key they flip the door latch and let the doors loudly slam over and over, are you kidding me?? Staff should be more respectful of paying guests. read more

We stayed here Memorial Day weekend. The first thing we noticed was the odd smell when we opened the door like some type of spray had been used to cover up something. It was very noisy with no apparent lights out/quiet time. People were loud all night. The window in the room was broken and we heard birds chirping well into the night. We couldn't close it. The whole room is tiled and the whirlpool really splashes which made water got all over the floor and then you feel like you're going to fall. The luxury king room with whirlpool is very small. Just enough for a bed, a table, whirlpool, a side table and dehumidifier. There is not a bureau to put any of your clothing in. One thing that really bothered me was the towels were so thin and small it looked like it was for a child not an adult and my husband said when he sat on the toilet he felt like he could barely fit on it and he's not a big guy. The king bed is on rollers and creaks when you move. I felt like the small shower was a step up from camping and it took 10 minutes to get the hot water to come on. I just wasn't impressed if you're around party person and you want to have a limo take you on the weekend to Foxwoods then that's the place for you to crash I guess. If you're looking for luxury, keep looking. read more

Yikes! These reviews are pretty bad...but personally my experience was not that bad here. We booked a suite for my birthday and a couple other friends joined us in separate rooms. First off, we had a sort of rocky start. When we went up to the front desk, the woman asked us "So how are you going to pay?" I was confused because I did enter a credit card when I booked the room. Luckily I still had enough money on my card for the room but I feel like we should have been told about this beforehand when we initially made the reservation. But not really a big deal, haven't rented a room before so maybe this is common? After we paid, the woman told us our room had to be inspected. Okay... not a problem... glad they're taking precautions. The thing was none of my other friends rooms were "inspected"...weird. We ended up having to wait 30 min for this "inspection" and then I had to apologize to the other guests in the long line that I had to go in front of them to see what the deal was. Check in was at 4pm and we got there at 5:30 so I don't understand that wait... shouldn't it have been done prior? Once I got to the desk the woman said we were all set and gave us our keys but said something that made it seem like she forgot we were waiting... finally got to the suite and it was pretty big. Pleasantly surprised! Didn't notice anything dirty like previous reviews had mentioned... maybe because we paid extra for the suite? Who knows. Thermostat was from 1970 but at least it worked. There were only 3 TINY trash cans in our room which was annoying because we had like 10 people all together and nowhere to put our trash. Fridge was decent sized but for paying $450 for a suite there was no microwave. Thought that was weird personally. Furniture is a bit outdated but was decently clean from my observation. Aside from the small road bumps at the beginning I was pretty satisfied with our stay. They gave us a free late checkout which was nice of them. Don't know if I'll ever go back because I heard better things from our friends who stayed in the tower. But it wasn't bad for us. We also got a smoking room and I was pleased it didn't reek of cigarettes which I was concerned about, just a faint smell. DO NOT STAY AT THEIR BUG INFESTED HOTEL! Booked a room at the Grand Cedar Hotel. The room looked nice, but about 9 minutes after getting into the bed my wife was bitten by some kind of bug or spider 14 times!!! We called for a manager and instead they send a bellhop to take us to another room. He took us to a not at all nice room and we were told the manager was on their way. The never came. It took us about 5 angry phone calls to finally get a manager up there. They insisted there were no bugs despite the pictures I took of them. Finally the manager of the other hotel came. She saw the bites, apologized and took us to a nice room at the other hotel. By now it was well after 2:30 AM. She said she would have her boss call us in the morning. They never called us AGAIN! Took us almost too checkout to finally get a rude manager in the line who told us we were crazy and that there were no bugs in the original room....so they never admitted it, but did comp us the room, we never really got to use. We had zero sleep or enjoyment in our hotel stay because of their horrific customer service. I write to them several times to see if they cared enough to make this right.....they never even had the decency to call or email us back! They were too concerned with covering up the FACT that the original room had bugs in the bed and could clearly care less about the horrific customer service we got. I have been a customer for SINCE THEY OPENED THE PLACE! We have gone to shows, stayed overnight, taken friends up etc...THE COULD NOT HAVE POSSIBLY CARED LESS! I AM NEVER EVER STAYING THERE AGAIN! I could have forgiven this issue if they cared even a little and perhaps had the decency to offer us a nice free stay in the future, since they ruined this one. This one I suspect is the one that kicked her into gear with the resort many years ago & to this day this one still rocks the joint no doubt. Time it right you can snag the one (room) for a good price (this can apply to all the spots with Foxwoods Resort/Casino) & a major kicker in a good way is this one has got smoking friendly & no not just merely cigarettes but cigars (yes chile stogies). Yes this one in the rooms got ashtrays, coffee-maker, coffees, mugs etc... plus they do make her a point to have you set good no doubt so you have no probs along the way & yes they'll even do your clock/radio alarm j-I-c you not sure how to set her so if you say sleep too deep you got the radio as a plan B. I will admit i am very picky with where i stay and i really did not want to stay here but for the price (about $150 total for labor day friday) it wasn't bad at all so i bit my tongue and gave it a try. Checked in at around 8pm.. Got to the lobby and i thought it looked like a bit outdated.. The elevators and that looked outdated as well. There are only 8 floors and we got a room on the 7th facing the buses (try to avoid because all you hear all night long are the buses honking when they are reversing). Got to the room and it really wasn't so bad! They have two sinks - one in the bathroom and one right outside and the bathroom also has a tub. The beds were pretty comfy and the rooms came with two waters and a fridge.. Small sized tv and a desk. The pool sucks (indoors and closes at 9pm) and theres one hot tub. The one thing that i really did like about the grand cedar is that if you take the elevator to the casino floor the food court is literally steps ahead of you (pequot bay, pizza, starbucks, deli and a gelato shop) along with all the little shops and in between the rainforest casino and grand pequot. I wouldn't mind staying here again.. It is very family friendly and more laid back and quiet compared to the GP or the fox tower. The only thing i would suggest is a reno to the pool.. It seriously sucks and its too dark in there.. Looks like a horror film. read more

I stayed here with 5 other people for a birthday and was pleasantly surprised. In Foxwoods, I have stayed at both the Grand Pequot hotel and the Two Trees Inn, which is Foxwoods detached hotel. The Great Cedar is a bit older, having been the first hotel on the property. But its quite nice! With my Wampum Card, I received a discount from the $179 rate offered on the site to $139, plus a bunch of taxes and fees. In general, I find casinos to do a bad job of burying these fees -- $139 turned into $175 with all that. But, since its the same across the board, its relative - not exclusive to to Foxwoods. The standard room had a roomy bathroom and two queen beds. The two queens actually fit 3 adults in each bed -- it was a little tight, but comfortable. We had visited the bowling alley and some drink outlets in the casino for a 21st birthday. The Grand Pequot hotel is a little bit nicer, and I think the MGM Hotel on the property is supposed to be the nicest, but its very far from the majority of Foxwoods. I would recommend this highly, especially because its a few bucks cheaper than the other options at the resort. read more

Very disappointed. We had a suite and they gave us the smoking room in error so we were grossed out and needed to go back downstairs to get moved. The suite is dated. We should have stayed on new side or Mohegan. due to Covid, we didn't realize we couldn't pull up to hotel and have valet so we parked in the garage to the right only to have to walk through Tanger Outlets to get to hotel. It was like a maze! Never ending and finally get to hotel. As I said, the front desk put us in the smoking room so we needed to come back down only to move! Didn't feel as though front desk was too concerned about the inconvenience. When we made the reservations and printed the confirmation- I think Foxwoods could have a little map to show where to park and to mention no valet parking. Going back to Mohegan. read more

Ok...It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't stay here again - not with all the other options at Foxwoods. The room was clean, the staff was nice. What were my issues? 1) the Air conditioning must have had a limit. It was on high the whole time and it was warm in the room. 2) the areas around the hotel - hallways, front desk, etc were hot as heck. 3) The fridge had the same problem. I don't expect to put water in the fridge and after hours have them come back room temp drinks. 4) I asked for extra towels. There were four of us. I was told I could only have two sets of towels, per a new mgmt policy. I had to sign for the towels and wasn't allowed more unless I had a personal conversation with the hotel manager. What?? Now, I realize these aren't huge issues, but they are issue enough for me to try another hotel next time. read more

My first time staying here and thankfully we didn't pay because my sister in law had two free night's stay. The room was clean, but their bed was so uncomfortable. The sheets were hard. There was no soft cozy comforter or weighted blanket on top. Come on now it's the winter. Both of us didn't sleep good being so uncomfortable. The elevators were so disgusting with hand prints. Every one we went in. Why aren't they being cleaned daily? The pool was so small and cold. We didn't even want to swim in it because our bodies didn't get used to it. It's only a four foot pool. The jacuzzi wasn't as hot as it could've been and didn't look the cleanest along the inside walls. I would NOT stay here again. The Fox Tower was beautiful and had nicer rooms and pools. The Pequot Tower had a gorgeous indoor pool too. I'm glad I inquired about it, so we swam over there instead. read more

Hope you're a smoker to love this casino. If you are not, well don't even bother to stay or gamble here. If you decide to risk it ....and book a Non-smoking room, don't show up late at night to check in or your room will be given away! We reserved a Non-Smoking King at this hotel for 8/27/19, to celebrate my husband's birthday. We came from NY across the Mass Pike, and got held up in traffic several times due to construction. We showed up to the hotel a little after 9pm, and was told there was no more Non-smoking King rooms available. I complained wondering how that was.possible when that was what I reserved with my credit card deposit to hold the room. That got me nowhere. I'm fact they only had 3 rooms left and they were all Smoking rooms with 2 queen beds. My husband and I both have allergies and are asthmatic when certain things trigger them. Smoke is one of those triggers. I explained that to the clerk, and she said there was nothing she could do, rooms are first come first serve, you should have checked in earlier. They said to check out the room, and if needed they would run an air purifier in there, also the room has windows that will open so we could get fresh air. We'd have to leave the room for an hour to do it. so with no other choice, and we already valet serviced our car, we went to the room. Room appearance was clean and nice. There was a lingering smell of old smoke...most likely coming from the carpets. We put on the A.C. In hopes the filtered air flow would make a difference. didn't seem to do anything at first. So we freshen up and went on pursuit of gambling and food hoping for the best when we returned to the room. We tried the smoke free casino, and it didn't offer much selection in slot machines. All of the nicer new music, tv and movie themed machines were only offered in the smoking casinos. So we ended up in them to play some of our favorite games. We had to take breaks from them every so often, so we could breathe.Thankfully we brought our allergy eye drops and emergency inhalers, because we surely needed them. We finally called it a night at 2:30am and went back to the room. Our senses were so burned out from all of the smoke in the casinos, we couldn't tell if the room smelled or not. Nothing could ease or sooth the dry burning sensation of our eyes, throat or nose that those smokey conditions caused. I write this on Friday 8/30, and we are still feeling the effects of this 'fun birthday getaway' has caused. We will never stay at this hotel or casino again. After the 6+ hour roundtrip, the loss of our specified room, lack of slot machine selection in the non-smoking casino, and suffering the Smokey conditions of all the other casinos just to play our favorite games...it just isn't worth it. read more

Super outdated room; pool outdated as well. It's almost 11:00 pm and I can hear doors slamming, people chatting and walking in the hall, toilets flushing and my Television is on! Totally unacceptable. Less than satisfactory stay. Convenient for gambling and shopping however, would NEVER stay here again, even if they gave me a room FREE! Best part is, our view is of construction out of the window!!!! Also, called for extra pillows, estimated 15-20 mins, waiting waiting, one hour passes no pillows. Go to dinner, Come back and call again, estimated 15-20 mins once again, waited again, got myself and two kids ready for the pool, 45 mins and yet again, no pillows. Can't wait to go home in the morning! Stay away! Go with Grand Pequot for a little extra money! read more

Don't know where to start. We checked in on a sunday night, got to the room and it was freezing I went to turn down the thermostat and it was the very old manual type but the numbers were missing. After 1/2 hour of guessing I finally was able to reach a livable temp. next I closed the room darkening drape only to find Two large holes which i am sure would allow light in at sunrise, and I was right. now to the bathroom. Toilet seat was loose and swayed. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Flushed, and noticed the floor wet, not from the flush, just water on the floor. Yes, we should have called housekeeping but at six o clock I know it would fe a wait and we were starving and anxious to get to the casino. My husband used hot water a towel to clean the floor. By the way, the floor was sticky and appeared dirty to begin with. beds very uncomtable and too high off the floor making getting in and,out difficult, my husband is six feet tall and he a problem as well. Here's the best of the worst, there is no longer in room movies, when I called operations I was told that 'they did not return to that'. We love our in room movies to relax with. I've been to foxwoods many many times before but this first since their reopening after covid closing. In the casino, four hours and no beverage service. will think,twice before staying in the great cedar hotel, maybe Foxwoods itself. my choice will be Mohegan, which was great. read more

The only reason it gets three stars is the price really expensive for mid week ($200 on a tue.) my wife and I usually stay down the road but tried this place last night, quick check in, unbelievably nice suite two rooms with jacuzzi. The prices should really come down, you can stay in a.c. for three nights in the same room for $200 total. Its a nice little getaway place just too pricey to do more than three or four times a year. read more

I was surprised both at how few reviews there were for this place (Foxwoods has been open for 25 years, not sure how long the hotel has been open) and how low the rating were until I stayed here last weekend. We booked a suite which was huge and had a nice Jacuzzi but like others have mentioned, the place is feeling old. Our "view" from the room was of the rooftop with HVAC units, walkways, satellite dishes and a parking garage across the way. Why the suites have double doors is a mystery to us, maybe so you can have them bring you a piano? What was annoying is we were right next to another suite and they didn't seem to understand how doors work, they would walk out and let the door slam and since it was a double door, it made twice the noise. Also, we decided to check out the pool as we wanted to go swimming later and it was "closed for maintenance", something they forgot to mention when we checked in. The sign said we could use the pool on the 9th floor of the Grand Pequot tower/hotel but that would require us to walk 1/2 way through the casino to get to it, not something you normally would do in a bathing suit. Overall, it gave us easy access to the casino and restaurants but wasn't worth the price, we'll try they Hilton down the street next time. Oh, almost forgot, we were on the "non-smoking" floor, you could sort of tell because they had ashtrays right outside the elevators and we found cigarette butts in the hall. read more

Stayed here for two nights 6/30-7/1, room with 2 queens, non-smoking, 5th floor. Check-in was seamless. Four of us were in the room, 3 had never been to Foxwoods. Yes, this is an older hotel, but it was clean, and the staff was very friendly. I have stayed there before over the years, and have never had an issue. The housekeeping staff took care of us with extra towels and were very nice. Could it use a coat of paint and touching up, of course, but as long as it is clean, that is what matters. My friends and I have known each other since elementary school, so for these old gals having a fun 2 night stay with lots of laughs, in a clean room, was exactly what we needed. We took a ride to Mystic for lunch and walked around the village too, easy ride, took about 20 minutes (if that). Yes, we gambled too! Thank you very much to all of the staff for your hard work and diligence. We will be back. read more

Will NOT return Hotel: Traveled over 6 hrs and by bed time we get a room with a refrigerator that made so much noise you couldn't sleep. After hours of tossing, it seemed to be white noise compared to the birthday party which surrounded our room. Doors slamming every 5 minutes for hours. Waste of vacation and money. Casino: wife and I sat at one blackjack table and nobody took our players card. Went to a different table (with one lady at first base). and we sat at the last two positions at the table. A lady walks up and tells the dealer she was playing three positions including the one my wife just sat at, the dealer puts markers at those positions and actually told my wife she couldn't play so we left. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Planned a special trip for my wife's birthday. Arrived at 2:00 and registered for check in and was told they would call us when our room was ready (check in is at 4:00). We never recieved a call so we called to check and was told our room had been ready for awhile, when we complained they transfered us to front desk voicemail. We went up to check in where there was a 30 minute wait. 30 people in line and Only 2 people working. We finally got up to the room and 1 of the key cards didnt work so we called 45 minute wait. We check out the room and it is ok, very thin walls. BUT a terrible stain in the window seat. We are here for 48 more hours but next time will be going to Mohegan Sun. Great Cedar Hotel - This is so gross!!! - Hotels Near Me - Mashantucket, Connecticut

Upon arrival, I check everything for bed bugs. Yay, no bed bugs in this room. But let's start with the sheets... They had stains and holes in them. Not only that, but there is no fitted sheet...only flat tucked in under the mattress (which gets all pulled up and weird during the night) over a gross looking, covered in bits of hair, bed cushion. And geez, these things were so rough they woke me up every time I adjusted in my sleep. Speaking of waking up...you can hear everything that happens in the room next to yours from snoring to bathroom flushes. Holy cow... I'm glad no one was having sex next door or I would have gotten no sleep at all. Upon looking further in the room, the chairs had chip crumbs on or just inside the cushions where a vacuum could definitely reach. The chair at the desk hadn't even been looked at and had food crumbs on the seat...and the thing was plastic so it's not like it's hard to wipe down. The toilet paper holders weren't even wiped down and had lotion on them. Also, no one vtips tp anymore? I mean that's not a huge deal breaker but the little details go a long way in presentation (I come from a housekeeping background...). The kicker though, through all of this, is the shower didn't work ... which we found out the morning of check out so we didn't have a chance to get a different room. (We brought this up upon check out and the guy said we had to pull the handle out....but we tried all which ways and it felt like it was gonna break off). If our stay wasn't for one night and our room wasn't free...I would have made more of a fuss. But comon guys! At least the front desk was nice and the location of hotel to casino ratio is on point. I guess it's a great hotel if you're wasted and need a cheap bed to possibly sleep in. read more

I stayed in a room on the fourth floor on Friday night with a couple buddies for a weekend get together. We really only used the room for getting ready, and then sleeping, but it served us well. The room was clean and tidy when we entered it, and the bathroom was nicely stocked with toiletries and shower accessories. Upon leaving the next day, the cleaning person even nicely gave me some extra shampoos and potions from her cart. The convenience of staying in the great cedar, or any of foxwoods other on site hotels, is the proximity to the rest of the casino, so you can easily go from one to the other without having to worry about transportation. read more

We paid $137 to stay on a Thursday. To stay on a Friday would have been, I kid you not, SEVEN TIMES the rate we paid. If you pay more than $137 to stay here, you're dumb. We also booked a king and got two queens... That are for sure full beds. This place is pretty old, at least in feeling. The shine is definitely gone (literally). Course, small bath towels, old mattresses that make squeaky noises and sag, and the sheets.... Cheap and kind of plastic like? Also, both mattresses in our room needed replacing. Loud and squeaky when you sit or move and a huge sag in the middle. Like, room on six floor, slept on fifth floor sag. The rooms are okay, but this is like a La Quinta Inn experience for a much higher price. Plus, Foxwoods is kind of like a sad, sticky ghost town. read more

First and foremost, this hotel should be named The Cedar Hotel...as there was nothing great about it. The most enjoyable part was checking-in when we were greeted by the lovely Jessica who was more than happy to laugh at our jokes and let us check-in early. The next best part was checking out and leaving. Now for the details: Try taking a seat on the provided toilet. It rocks back and forth as if you are on a boat. We suggest taking Dramamine to prevent getting motion sickness. When finished, be sure to wash your hands in the sink that will quickly fill like a bathtub. The sink was exceptionally clogged and while you're brushing your teeth you can watch your toothpaste discharge swirl in the pool of water. When you lay down in your bed, you may hear a crinkle noise, similar to newspaper. This is because the sheets, pillows and blanket feel like paper. You read that right, you will be sleeping in a paper bed. Honorable mentions go to the updated iPhone dock (sorry droid users), and the cute window nook. Stayed overnight. Hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Valet parking was also quick. Room was clean as was the bathroom. The only issue I had was the room key. Both didn't work so I had to get two more. One of those also didn't work. Other than the key issue, everything was fine. read more

This place was absolutely disgusting! From check in to check out. Upon check in seems the front desk person really didn't want to be there and it showed, he was miserable. Then we decided to go into the hot tub, it was cold no heat on it at all and soap scum floating on top. The hotel room itself is very out dated but at least clean. We had dinner at David Burke steakhouse. I ordered prime rib rare. It came out medium and it looked like it had been reheated. No garnishment on plate simply a piece of meat on a plate.
