We have visited many bed and breakfasts over the years, but Stonecroft Country Inn is by far our absolute favorite. We stayed in the 1807 House in The Buttery Room on the first floor. The room was immaculate, and very quaint with its beam ceilings and original doors. It also had a lovely private patio to enjoy. There was a carafe of water waiting for us, and comfy robes to welcome us. A lot of attention to detail was put in to make us feel very much at home. The hosts Jodi and Scott are lovely, welcoming people who make sure their guests truly enjoy their stay. Breakfast was served in their elegant dining room or on their beautiful outside patio. A full country breakfast waited for us every morning. Fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and delicious meals like sausage, potato strata and raspberry drizzled French toast were on the menu the days that we stayed. Once again the attention to detail was incredible. Meals were beautifully presented , and the tables were set with fresh summer flowers. The grounds were also well kept, and the gardens and pond area were so relaxing to stroll through or stop and relax for awhile in an outdoor chair. It's always a challenge to find suitable lodging away from home. SO, we chose this inn for the good reviews and that highly regarded status of the SELECT REGISTRY. After spending a delightful day in Mystic, CT, dining and discovering the town, we made our way to the inn. It was 645 pm as walked in main entrance to ring the staff. Jodi met us and guided us to the LILY room. At first glance, this historic building was updated, clean and spacious with many amenities in room to suit us. She proceeded to instruct us on the tv remote, hot tub rules, side door lock and a few other notables to make our stay safe. Great sleep, the pillows are thin and worn, too late to have them replaced. The Temperpedic (?) foam mattress was a tad hard initially although we were tired and fell asleep quickly. First issue noticed next morning as I attempted to neatly assemble the bedding to make it look presentable, as I peeled layers back, there were large, older stains on sheets, top and bottom. Not acceptable considering the staff washed linens and made the entire bed overlooking such an obvious area of spots. The main issue occurred next morning when at 6 am, I woke to wash my face and noticed the slow sink pressure, then at 7 am, down to a trickle and when I attempted to shower, water was non existent. Now what? There was a carafe of water on dresser, so I used the keurig to make coffee and wait until breakfast time to address the owner. There were a few other things I would change but it's not my business. The grounds are beautiful venue for weddings, weekends and wandering. The owners stepped in post Covid with this huge financial undertaking and most of what you will experience is up to the individual's expectations. read more

How can you not like an accommodation that features a super well-behaved goldendoodle greeter like Tanner?!? We stayed in the 1807 House in the large fireplaced Orchard bedroom with an attached spacious bathroom. Our uber-comfy king-sized bed was akin to sleeping on a cloud. The common spaces in the 1807 House feature fine antiques and time-appropriate art works. Breakfast was served in the basement banquet room of the renovated barn and was delightful. This was our first visit to the Mystic area and, rest assured, we are going back AND staying at Stonecroft! SO much better than a hotel and, dare I say, an AirB&B! read more

My wife and I stayed in the Orlando for 2 nights. We both recommend Stonecroft. The room was very clean and welcoming. (Personal preference comment: the bed is a pillow-top and is very soft; if you like a firm bed, you may want to ask the owners if other rooms have firmer beds.) The air conditioning worked great - we were there on two VERY hot and humid days, and the room stayed comfortable throughout our stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful - they'll talk to you if you want, but they won't keep talking, either, if you're looking for privacy (in other words, they understand boundaries). The breakfast was excellent. Eggs made to order with great sides, all made fresh that morning. The dining room is large - they use the facility for events, too, and I definitely recommend exploring Stonecroft as an option if you're looking for a place to have a bridal shower or some other event where you can't fit everyone at your house. Just returned from a 3-night stay at Stonecroft Inn. My husband and I are already talking about when to return for another visit. Jodie and Scott were fantastic hosts and the breakfast each day was tasty. Good portions, fresh fruit and freshly baked goods also provided. They accommodated my need for almond milk and Jodie remembered every morning without my needing to ask for it. I enjoyed the French toast with sausage the most, you didn't even need syrup. Jodie and Scott also provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities to do in the area. We had such a great time. Stayed there for one night in a pet- friendly room. Enjoyed the private deck and private side door to the yard. Overall, the Inn was clean and sufficient. Alittle sterile. Coffee available every day in the lobby. Breakfast served from 9 a.m.to 10 a.m. only. Only one TV in a common living room- No Tv's or working radios in the room. My first B&B experience was a pleasant one. I reserved the The Shubel Master Suite for Christmas Day/Night and it was exactly what we needed during a quarantine type of Christmas. The suite is furnished with wood floors and soft carpets throughout, fireside leather loveseat (that can pull out to a twin bed), a nice size armoire, a private balcony, a small writing desk, and large mirrored dresser. The bathroom is one of the largest you'll ever see (fix the door though) a bidet, a super-sized walk-in shower, and heated towel rack. Open the shutters of the two-person whirlpool tub and enjoy the flickering gas fireplace. Situated on the top floor of the Yellow Barn, the Shubel Suite offers privacy from all other rooms and provides the ideal accommodations for an unforgettable getaway. Highly recommend. A lovely, charming, quiet stay. We booked 3 nights in the Lily suite for our Mini-moon. 2-person Jacuzzi and the gas fireplace were highlights. Our French doors opened up to a deck overlooking the immaculately kept grounds. Although it's not considered a private balcony like the suites upstairs have, you're far away from other rooms so it was very private. Our room was so clean and homey. We had a tv to watch dvds (great selections!) and free WiFi. Weekend breakfasts were delicious-love the muffins & crumb cake. We even got to meet Tanner! We got the honeymoon pkg that included massages, roses, strawberries & Prosecco, a $100 voucher to a seafood restaurant, and tix to Mystic Seaport. Thank you Jodie & Scott for a wonderful stay. Stayed here in January for a two night stay mid week for my wife's birthday. The location was perfect. We were able to easily drive to Mystic as well as both casinos. We checked in a little early and the charcuterie board that I ordered was a perfect snack before dinner. It was prepared with a nice array of cheese and meats, pickles and strawberries and assorted crackers. The accommodations were nice. We stayed in the Shubert Master suite that had a gas fireplace and a leather loveseat in front of it. Unfortunately the floor of the barn is not level so the head of the bed was down hill, which made it difficult to sleep. I can definitely say that this Inn is NOT LGBTQ friendly. The inn keepers, Jodi and Scott seem to be homophobic. They did not converse much and the one conversation that I did have with Scott, he addressed my wife as"my cohort". It was so rude and tone deaf. I expected the breakfast to be fantastic based on the reviews. However, it was overrated and underwhelming. The first morning the baked eggs were inedible. They were raw and runny on the inside. We weren't even offered refills on coffee. Since there was no conversation with the owners we ended up leaving the breakfast uneaten. Jodi sent me a text later in the day to see what we might want the next morning to eat. We asked for French toast and bacon. The French toast was a bit too sweet but the bacon was old and had a rancid taste. We were afraid that we would get sick. I have never tasted bacon that was so vile. For being the only guests staying at the Inn, we were definitely disappointed with the treatment we received. It was definitely not the typical B&B experience we have experienced in the past. It felt like we were a bother to the inn keepers to be there. We won't be back! read more

My wife and I were looking for a B&B to celebrate our 30th anniversary. After looking at places in RI, Mass and CT, we finally decided on Stonecroft Country Inn. And were we glad we did! Both myself and my wife are VERY particular where we stay. We look at many of the small details that are overlooked by many places... Not the case here Even in the off season with no leaves on the trees, the grounds and environmet are welcoming. We rented the "Sarah Suite" and felt right at home. Our host was Scott (owner) who was doing double duty as his wife Jody was away. Scott was a very cheerful personality, that (you could tell) his heart was deeply into this B&B. He told us the history, and gave us a tour of the whole beautiful place. Our room couldn't have been cozier if we had built it ourselves. Every detail and possible need was covered by them. The layout perfect! A cozy sitting area was available for my wife and I to enjoy a movie together after returning from dining out. The bed was super large, billowy, and comfortable. And the bathroom... No lack of sinks for starters! Equipped with a large whirpool tub that overlooked the tv area. The shower was enormous as well! Heated towel racks, and plenty of towels. Getting sleep was easy as the area is very quiet to say the least. The next morning we had the most incredible breakfast ever! Coffee and tea to start with fresh baked banana nut muffins warm from the oven. Fresh fruit cups paved the way to the main course.. Stuffed French toast, Sausage, and the best Hash browns I've had in my life! (The French toast was as well!) Each course timed perfectly and served hot.. The dining room was warm and welcoming and we ate our breakfast by the fireside. My wife and I are really looking forward to a return visit here soon! If you're planning a visit to the casino, this is a great place to stay! Convenient to both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, it beats any of the hotels there. This has been our weekend getaway since our now adult children were very young so 20+ ish years. The place feels mostly the same although the owners have changed over the years. Never fear - you'll be in good hands with Jodie and Scott and their friendly dog, Tanner. We were snowed in with the weekend blizzard and they couldn't have been nicer - offering extra food and snacks and making sure everyone had everything needed to be comfortable. Generous and delicious breakfasts are cooked fresh and seconds are offered. The rooms are airy, light and quite spacious - though we usually book either the Sarah or Shubel, which are the largest. Downtown Mystic is a short drive away and offers many fine restaurants and activities. If casinos are of interest, Foxwoods is closest but Mohegan Sun is not much further. There are wineries nearby also. All in all, this is a place to relax and escape the day to day. read more

The proximity to Mystic made it a very convenient staying place and it should be easy as well if you are planning to hit the casinos although we did not do that on our stay. We recommend staying in the main house if you want a Jacuzzi and electric fireplace but we chose the other house with a log fireplace. Either will be an excellent choice regardless. Arrive as early to check in as possible because your going to have to find food miles away. If your not petite do not expect to easily fit in the tub together. The linens are soft but the bed in this room is not. It feels more like two smaller mattresses shoved together to give the appearance of a true king. Your guess is as good as any on when the last time it was cleaned and laundered. The bed frame feels broken and slaps against the radiator and wall. There is also a strange, uncomfortable lump in the center of the bed that we couldn't figure out. The mismatched chairs were uncomfortable and itchy. The overall placement of everything was poor. Bottom line is the Stonecroft Country Inn is the only B&B game in the area so boasting that it is the best isn't saying much at all. I was here when it opened a long time ago and it was a beautiful getaway. Now it is rundown, cheaply maintained, and a shell of it's former self. If you hate hotels than this motel is an option. Make no mistake however it is a back road motel not an upscale B&B or Inn. And at well over $300+ per night is not worth that at all. There are two areas of Mystic that have other lodging options instead that are much closer to everything if not right in the heart of it. It is a quiet place to begin with so your better off booking elsewhere to avoid the 10 to 20 miles of traveling to get to the good stuff and also for avoiding costly parking fees around either side of town. I highly recommend Mystic and the surrounding area. I would only recommend the "Stonecroft Country Inn" if your into overpaying and staying absolutely minimal. read more

This restaurant definitely did not live up to my expectations, in terms of both food and service. Please note this review is only for the restaurant, I did not stay at the inn. The appetizers and salads ranged from good to very good. We had the lobster and crab cakes which looked more like meatballs. I didn't get big chunks of lobster or crab but I did get an overwhelming taste of red bell pepper. They were fine, but I've had much better. The carpaccio was very good. The bbq shrimp was also very good - served on polenta wedges. The sauce was good and spicy. The mesclun and wedge salads were both very good, tasty. The mesclun salad had a nice sweetness to it I wouldn't have expected to like in a salad but I did. Were I just giving a review on the apps and salads I'd probably have given three, POSSIBLY four stars. But the service and the entrees blew it for me. The waiter was nice enough but didn't seem overly knowledgeable regarding the menu. The biggest thing was the length of the wait for our appetizers and then between each course. The place was not busy and we were there for HOURS. Most of that time was waiting. It was ridiculous and by the time I left I was actually agitated. It really ruined the experience. And incidentally, I like long lingering meals. This was BEYOND. Three of us ordered the pistachio crusted ahi tuna, rare. The crust was tasty - it had a wasabi-cranberry sauce over it which was good. The fish itself was a major disappointment and absolutely not what you would expect from what appeared to be a decent menu. We're not even convinced it was ahi. It was full of connective tissue and two of us got very fishy tasting bites in ours. One in our party ordered the pork tenderloin. She said it was okay but certainly not the best she's had. In any case, as I said - the appetizers and salads were good. Not enough to warrant a return visit for me. read more

We stayed at Stonecroft Country Inn during October 2020. Scott and Jodie were wonderful bnb hosts. The dining hall for breakfast every morning (included) was lovely. The property for the inn was marvelous; perfect for a fall night. The jacuzzi bathtub after a long day was excellent, and warming up at the fireplace afterwards made it all the better. Let us not forget about Tanner, the lovely dog on campus. I'd come back in a heartbeat, and I have been referring this inn to all of my friends for a great weekend getaway. read more

I went here for Fathers day Brunch today with my wife and daughter. I give 3 stars for a clean place, great ambiance, and friendly waitstaff. The grounds are beautiful and I think this place has a lot to offer; but they weren't offering it today. They were more than 20 minutes late seating us for our reservation, and even then, the chicken, steak and ribs weren't ready yet. Other brunch items that were ready had been sitting in warming plates for too long. The eggs were dry and the French Toast was so hard it crunched when you cut it. They only reason the review isn't worse on the food is because batches that came out later were much better. But first impression is not great. The whole time I heard from multiple people that they were sorry but they had a big breakfast group. Then, while eating I could hear people argue about running out of orange juice and about who was supposed to be seated where. Other guests complained and refused to pay full price on the bill. Glasses that went empty stayed empty unless we flagged someone down. Even when I left I was never clear on who my waitperson was. Again, I think it might be a good joint, but I'm not encouraged to rush back. The manger walked around, but we never heard "sorry for your wait". My boyfriend and I stayed in the Sarah Suite for our anniversary the weekend of 3/5/11. This was our second "Inn" experience, and we fell in love with the whole B & B idea all over again. In such a busy world and life, this is the perfect getaway to escape to while enabling you to take some time to focus on your relationship and each other. I highly recommend this suite, and location for anyone looking to escape to a mini private paradise and relaxation- especially people who live very fast paced and busy lives and times like this is the only time you have to get away and de-stress. Being private people, we were at first a little nervous to enter the B & B realm since we are not ones to join others for the standard "community breakfast" and such. This was no issue at all, since we were able to keep to ourselves and spend our time together as we chose. In the morning, we chose to skip the community breakfast and instead, breakfast was brought to us as we were then able to soak in the last moments we had to enjoy of this lovely room together. The suite is heaven on earth. A huge, immemse bed decorated ever so dainty- but filled with nothing but FLUFF bed that just screams "jump on me and sprawl out!", sitting area with reclining chairs that surround a mini- gas working fire-place. That's not half of it! The bathroom!!! "His" and "Hers" areas- we each had our own sinks, and toilets! A huge jacuzzi that has doors opening to look out to the fire place or watch TV if you wanted. As you step outside the Jacuzzi- there is an amazing jet shower ROOM that one could shower if they want. After stepping out- you have your choice of a plush robe to put on- or a warmed towel from the heated towel rack that has warmed towels awaiting your use!!! After a relaxing bath in the Jacuzzi- there are two doors that open to a beautiful balcony and sitting area to enjoy the beautiful weather; and/or night sky. This place was amazing and staff was very helpful and respectful. We had all the privacy in the world- so it truly felt like we had escaped to our own little island for the weekend!! The only time we saw anyone was when we asked for more ice to be brought to the room- and then when we were served breakfast in our own room. The Inn also has a DVD library which was convenient :) We love Mystic as it is, but this place made our stay even more special than the last. We will def be back and I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic getaway - or even just a place to relax for a night or weekend. read more

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. - we arrived and followed instructions to call intercom 26. We left a message and called several more times while we waited alone in the lobby. We eventually had to go into the basement/dining room and flag down a member of the wait staff to check us in - the heat went out while we were at dinner off-site. It was eventually repaired, but it was very cold in the room until 1-2 AM or so. - the walls are paper-thin. You could hear everything in the other room as clear as a bell After a night of cold sleep and an early wake up call thanks to the neighbors' activities, we went to breakfast (it was decent - buffet style). I asked our waitress if there would be an adjustment to the bill and she said that the innkeeper would contact me. He wrote an email and offered a free upgrade on the next visit. I told him that there would not be a next visit and again asked for an adjustment to the bill. He never responded to that email. Very poor service. The grounds look pretty, though. read more

We just experienced out first stay at the Stonecroft, I have to say it was so worth it. The inn keepers, Jim and Marcie, are the best hosts, so accommodating and not over bearing. They were perfect. We stayed in the Sarah, master suite, it was so spacious and relaxing. The set up of the room was spot on. The inn is dead center of Foxwoods and Mystic, making it so convenient. It's close enough to go to a nice dinner or hit the bar scene at Mystic(which is so fun, great people, good times!) and come back for a quiet an intimate night with the person you love. The actual inn is so relaxing and the rooms are very private. The fireplace, two person tubs, heated towel rack, bed, everything was spot on! I would highly recommend. This place has a great balance.. FYI Marcie's breakfast and blueberries muffins broke the mold, she is awesome! read more

This historical restoration is a beautiful find on a farm from the 1800s! Jim and Marcie are the most gracious hosts, and Marcie cooks the best homecooked breakfast I have ever had, including fresh blueberry muffins that taste like they came straight from a bakery. My husband and I stayed in the Sarah Master Suite, complete with a jacuzzi tub, huge bathroom, private porch and the comfiest bed ever. My fiancee and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and had an amazing time-- all thanks to the innkeepers! Not only is this a beautiful property, but it is a luxurious stay. Our room was immaculate and cozy--fireplace and jacuzzi with towel warmers and comfortable robes! The entire stay felt like a spa. The entire place is wonderfully decorated and certainly makes you feel like you are in a home away from home! The inn offers all the amenities of a modern hotel--DVD library, books, games, complimentary coffee and tea-- but the innkeepers are who really make this place come alive. These two are the sweetest people and are very knowledgeable about what there is to do/see in the area. The breakfasts were wonderful too! We will definitely go back! If you are looking for an historic inn that delivers on their promises and strives to meet every single one of your needs, this is the place.
