Such a great place and staff were very helpful! It is exactly what we expected. We stayed in the mansion which was cozy and clean and they even give a complementary fire log to use the fireplace. We will definitely return! I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

At over $615 per night, we expected a much better experience\. When we arrived, the toilet in our room was broken\. It took approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to repair, during which time we couldn't use the bathroom or shower before going out to dinner\. The bathtub also wasn't draining properly until we finally figured out a way to get it to drain ourselves\. In addition, the refrigerator wasn't cold on the first day\. We had actually called ahead to ask them to make sure it was turned on because we experienced the same issue during a previous stay\. The next day, we returned to the room to put our baby down for a nap and found contractors installing new carpet directly outside our door\. The constant hammering and nailing made it impossible for our baby to sleep\. We asked if the work could pause for just an hour, but we were told no\. The only solution offered was to move us to a much smaller room where the only bathroom was located inside the children's sleeping area, which wasn't a practical option for our family\. The staff offered us a bottle of wine as compensation, we declined\. We then asked if there was another way to make the situation right, such as adjusting our room rate, but the manager said no\. We've always enjoyed staying at The Whaler's Inn, which makes this experience particularly frustrating\. Maintenance issues can happen, but multiple room problems, disruptive construction during the day without accommodation, and the lack of a meaningful resolution left us feeling that the value did not match the price we paid\. We hope management will take this feedback seriously and improve the guest experience\.we will not be coming back . I do not recommend - the staff were SO RUDE

The house itself is absolutely beautiful…read more Approaching the house is a well appointed garden and steps up to a wrap around porch with a lovely gazebo that would be perfect for relaxing with a drink and listening to the birds in warm weather. From the porch, you also get a peek at the Mystic River and the Mystic Seaport. (I could see the Mayflower which was on a lift at the seaport for repairs-absolutely charming.) When you walk through the front door, you are greeted by artwork, books, and a parlor off to the right. There is a baby grand piano, tuned and ready to be played in the parlor. I just loved all the hand painted details by a local artist. It is a cozy, happy room. Walk straight through the front foyer and you enter the dining room which has coffee, teas, and water available 24/7. There was a plate of cookies on the table that were home made and out of this worldA scrabble game was set and ready to go. A well rounded breakfast menu was posted and you can order whatever you like, all home made including the granola. I am gluten free and Josephine was so accommodating. I even discovered a new GF bread that I thought was better than most I have tried. Josephine has a talent in the kitchen to say the least. Everything was delicious. There is a lot of local information on where to go and what to do. OK- now, the Mermaid Room This is not a large room but it has everything you need (including a little fridge) and the hand painted walls are an absolute study. To think one young lady produced all that art, a talent to be admired. There are 3 more rooms upstairs but I wanted to be on the main floor. I found the location perfect. It is not on the main drag so it isn't noisy but just walk a couple of blocks and you are right in the middle of downtown Mystic with all the glorious restaurants, cute shops, and a drawbridge over the Mystic River. 100% charm. See how many mermaids you can count‍. I will definitely go back. I would like to go on a river cruise next time. I am recommending the Mermaid Inn to all my friends and family.

The amenities are top notch, still with a touch of sweet whimsy. The modern, granite bath/shower, in the Blue Room, was complimented by a beautiful mermaid mural. The mantle was decorated with a charming mermaid fresco. The soft shades of blue made for a serene environment & I slept like a baby on the comfy white, wrought-iron bed. Breakfast was delicious! Challah bread French toast with a medly of berries one day, a delicious lobster quiche on another. The Inn is Victorian, the theme is all things mermaid but, the heart of it all is the proprietor & hostess, Ms. Josephine! She could not have been more welcoming & accommodating. Thank you, Josephine, for a restful & rejuvenating stay at your lovely Mermaid Inn!

Fantastic Bottom Line Up Front: This hotel has everything covered; it is clean, quiet and comfy; the staff is very friendly, has a convenient location, pool, fitness center and DIY continental breakfast! The check-in/check-out was very smooth, the welcome team were pleasant and helpful and there was plenty of parking on site. The room was very clean, was quiet and comfortable and the climate control was easy to use. The bed we slept on was a little uncomfortable (firm and soft all in one) but it was manageable. The indoor pool was great for splashing around and cooling off, but don't expect To get any laps in. The free continental breakfast was what you come to expect from Hampton Inns (DIY waffles, eggs, yogurt, cereal and more). There was something for everyone. The WiFi worked well and there was plenty of parking on site. There was a convenience counter on site which you could purchase drinks and snacks from at an additional cost. We used it a few times and it was quick and convenient. Also, we decided to order in and the staff had great recommendations. We opted for pizza, but not the one you would think (check my next review on Pizza in Mystic). The hotel was conveniently located near several Mystic attractions, including the Mystic Seaport Museum and the Mystic Aquarium. Overall, it was a great stay. It matched or exceeded my expectations for cleanliness, customer service. Happy ways and super stays!

The room we booked was massive but in an empty massive way hard to describe, bed comfy but super creaky, pillows awful (per usual of most hotels) dated couch, nice kitchenette, dated bathroom with a bathtub and mat in the tub (a bit ewww) super high sided to get into the tub for a shower. Paper thin walls/ceilings are the only reason I didn't give 4 stars because our room was nice & clean, but all night we heard a guest down the hall having a very very good time with a friend, and in the am children above us running circles in the room thunderously. We would stay again though as the price was right and again clean is gooooood.

Can I give a six star review?…read more We've stayed at expensive hotels this year in Philadelphia and Chicago and this experience is head and shoulders over those. Huge room, comfortable, quiet and cozy. 6 star The quiet, do we even have anyone in the Inn or the town? The insulation is top notch. The dark The ultra sleeping experience. I guarantee the owner slept in this room at least one night to get feel for the room and make those little touches. How many hotels do you go to where the shades don't keep out the light or that the various clocks and smoke alarms and power strips and wall outlets all have bright led lights on them? How many times have I draped a sock over something. Not here, even the clock has a bright, dim and off option. I love a blacked out room and very very rarely get one. The shower - powerful and hot and oversized. Wow. Massive bathtub with jacuzzi option, wow. A well hidden TV, a really nice touch. We don't want it dominating the room. Bed, I've returned 3 mattresses after purchasing them at my house so I am picky and this bed is elite. Huge comfy chairs, comfy robes, this room has it all and the a/c is powerful. Resort 6stars Wine and cheese and fruit and cracker happy hour, bring $5 to tip Susan, she is a cheerful conversatalist. Breakfast is massive, don't plan to go anywhere else for brunch or breakfast. Highly recommend it and the seating areas are many, inside and out. Staff - great recommendations and Beatrice drew upon her knowledge of growing up in the town. Plus they had a ready list of 5 places to eat to walk to, so nice. The town, what a find, a classic NE town, they filmed mystic pizza here. So quiet and so much to do! Good amount of folks walking around, plenty of sites to see. Love it here.

This hotel was perfect for our needs!…read more First want to give a shout out to Lisa at reception. She was kind, caring and extra sweet with our baby. It was delight to walk in and see her at the front desk. We were visiting Mystic for the Seaport Museum and Aquarium. We needed a hotel that was close by to everything, clean, had a fridge, and was inexpensive. Spark by Hilton checked all those boxes- with the added bonus of a free breakfast bar. Pros: Clean rooms, lobby and hallways. The lobby always smelled nice and had a small snacks and toiletries shop area. AC worked great. Fridge in room kept things extra cold. Free wifi for Hilton Honors members. Breakfast bar had a nice selection of bagels, cereals, and yogurt with toppings. Standard coffee, tea, juice. Also a separate kids eating area, where they always had the Disney Channel playing. We loved sitting there with our baby. There was also a pool, but we never got to visit it. Super close to all major points of interest. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Free chocolate squares at the front desk. Cons: Metal chair in the room made for a cold surprise every time we sat down. We fixed this by draping a towel over it. No microwave in room (we personally didn't need one), but there was a microwave always available in the breakfast bar area. PRO TIP: Breakfast ends at 10 AM and they do not play. At 9:50 AM they were breaking down and putting things away. Make sure you get there well before 10 AM. Overall we were very pleased. We would definitely recommend and stay here again!

The smell in the hallway hits you and the room was even worse. I had to sleep with my own clean shirt over my face to block the smell of urine, mildew, and nasty feet! Drove 15 hours to get here in the middle of the night to realize how deceptive this place is. I cannot believe Hilton stands behind this place! I frequent Hilton properties often and this one they should have never put their name on. I went down to ask for a different room but of course "we are booked, there's nothing I can do"....I was hoping a different room in a different wing of this hole would atleast smell better....but we had to stick it out. Paper thin walls, people loud and cursing in the hallway, and the stench......that just blows my mind. So glad I brought flip flops, walking on the carpet is a definite no! Sorry Hilton but you cant put paint on a Days inn and call it your own....its not a good look! Junkies in the hallway...parking lot....people if you have kids and any sense stay away from here! I paid $150 a night to stay in a $45 a night slum motel...shame on you Hilton! And yes I'm an Honors member....couldn't even get a free bottle of water!
