We recently visited Weekapaug Inn for their Fathers Day barbecue, and it was charming. First off, let's start with the things that went great. If you've ever wanted to go to a hotel/inn that gives off a similar vibe to the camp in Dirty Dancing, well you've found it in the Weekapaug Inn. There's lawn games, a beach nearby, and all sorts of outdoor activities in a pretty scenic setting. The event and wait staff were amazing! They clearly had thought through every little detail and were very attentive to every single guest. They made you feel welcome and that's a pretty special thing when done correctly. The side dishes at the barbecue were great and I could have made a meal of just those items. Now for the average: Despite bringing in a celebrity grill master, we all found the grilled meats just okay. Excellent find in westerly! The grounds are beautiful and the view is of the bay. The food is fresh and much more elevated compared to the typical Misquamicut beach shack. We had lunch outside. The hot buttered lobster roll was delicious! The inside had a gorgeous fireplace. The tables were all dressed in white tablecloths. This could be a very romantic spot. I spent.a weekend at the Weekapaug Inn to celebrate a wedding. From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted and treated with respect and courtesy. The inn itself, is quiet elegance. Our suite was simply furnished yet very comfortable. Heated towel racks and fluffy robes & slippers make this feel more like a spa than a hotel. The common rooms had fires burning in the fireplace and chess games set up for a match. The service at the inn and restaurant is impeccable. But even more impressive was the wait staff team that served us at the wedding. I have never experienced such well trained staff. Unobtrusive and efficient service with a smile all weekend. This is only about a weekly outdoor BBQ. The staff were excellent. The property was scenic. Sorry to say that the food was all cold! The brisket was fatty and tough! The chicken was dry! The ribs were plain with no sauce. $100.00 per person. The dessert was cookies, dry blueberry cake, or fake smore of a tiny graham cracker cup with liquid chocolate and a marshmallow on top. We visited for a Lobster BBQ Event. The start of the event was a bit off as the rain caused a change of venue. As people moved inside it may have been worth someone directing people where to go and controlling the seating. As we waited patiently at the host stand with some other couples, groups filled in and just started taking seats. After about 20 minutes of this, frustration began to set in as staff did not acknowledge anyone who had been waiting. Chowder, cornbread, and corn were good. Lobster and chicken were cooked perfectly. The brisket we did not like at all. We thought BBQ and pictured brisket, but this was a more New England style so it didnt really hit the mark for us. I've stayed at this property a few times and each have left me wanting the "luxury" that this hotel supposedly provides. The first time I stayed here our room was over 80 degrees as they used force heat. The only solution they offered us was a standing fan... The second time the staff was absolutely terrible and inattentive. The last time we left before actually getting our room as they claim to be pet friendly, however in our experience it was the opposite. This hotel, the manager and the staff are absolutely terrible. I stayed at the Weekapaug Inn last week for Thanksgiving with my husband and friends. It was a lovely time but I like to be honest in my reviews and it had its pros and cons. Pros - great food and drinks at the restaurant and bar - lovely outdoor fire area with s'mores - several fireplaces to hang out by - nice staff - close proximity to beach - great sister properties (the preserve and ocean house) that were easy to access as guests at the Weekapaug Inn Cons - like many in the hospitality industry during this covid era, they felt understaffed and as a result the food service was very slow for all our meals. Also, I work out everyday and the gym wasn't cleaned for the 4 days we were there (from my first visit to the last, there were dirty glasses on the counters and ever growing piles of smelly used towels) - the price and high end advertising didn't match our tiny room with older furnishings and view of the parking lot. Our friends also got a similar room and I often overheard guests asking the front desk staff for a different room so I don't think ours was a one off, but rather the norm. Overall the place had nice staff and great tasting food and we enjoyed our time with our friends so it worked out, but the hotel itself could be improved a bit to meet its luxury branding. read more

Service was horrible and to end the meal the waiter says oh I'm sorry I gave you the wrong check that's a hotel room charge hang on. He never comes back. I get the manager he said that's fine sign here. I sign. I leave they chase me out and say we never swiped your card. I was so upset. I gave them my card and this is what came back. My girlfriend and I live and work in NYC and needed to get away for some relaxation. An easy 2h drive from the city and will worth it. From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff (whether in the restaurant or on the grounds) was absolutely phenomenal. The level of genuine hospitality and attention to detail made it very difficult to leave. Additionally, my partner and I had made reservations at different restaurants around Westerly/Watch Hill prior to our trip. Once we ate in the Inn's restaurant our first night there, we were hooked; we ate there twice a day for the duration of our trip. The concierge also helped us arrange couples massages at the Ocean House (which I highly recommend). All in all, I could not have asked for a better getaway. Made a dinner reservation for a birthday celebration a week in advance and confirmed the reservation the day before. Received a call at noon the day of the reservation that due to "technical issues" they cancelled our dinner reservation and could only accommodate guests at the Inn (we rented a house in Weekapaug but have stayed at the Inn many times previously). Pretty clear we were bumped for a guest and they lied - really unprofessional. Every other restaurant is booked for tonight, so we can't have any celebration, and we leave tomorrow. This restaurant is within the historic Weekapaug Inn that is over 100 years old. Beautiful grounds and friendly hospitality staff wherever you encounter them. We went during an off-peak Sunday night so it was mostly empty. We started with a cup of New England Clam Chowder which was artfully garnished with the purple flowering part of a chive plant. I also ordered their Winter Lemonade mocktails and my husband had a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned. Our waitress also served us 2 multigrain warm rolls and a egg shaped oval of whipped butter on a small square of black slate. The butter was super whipped and almost the consistency of whipped cream. Before we chose the clam chowder I asked what was in the chartuertie board since there are various cheese I cant eat right now. it was Blue Cheese, manchego, Vermont Cheddar, soppressata and a meat pate(I cant remember the actual name) and a "soupy" which is a Westerly Rhode Island traditional sausage. At the end of our meal, our server seeing that I was pregnant brought me a complimentary gift bag with a onsie and a bib with the Inn's name on it. How sweet? read more

This is a beautiful overlook spot not far from Masquamicut beach. The coastline is very rocky in this area but still affords a magificent view of the ocean and surrounding beach houses. This is a favored spot for many locals as well as vacationers to enjoy the surf, a cup of coffee and a newspaper. Getting here early is paramount as parking is very limited. read more

After going to the Ocean House - had to check out the other resurgence of RI beach culture. Same deal as no tipping, everything included, but we walked up for brunch and got a hassle because they save the tables for the guests - which they were not doing brunch so many tables free. I mean, don't make paying customers feel like an intrusion. Once we were seated - we did get a great table and a tasty brunch. It is super peaceful, and my wife's mimosa was perfect. But the Ocean House is better for a bite, drink, view. This is great for guests to escape but not for neighbors to visit. read more

We dined here to experience the new Brasserie menu and it was quite a treat! The service is exquisite and the food was nothing short of perfect. It was one of the nicest meals we've had locally. The short rib was probably the favorite but that's a tough call because everything was outstanding in its own right. The perfectly seasoned vegetables could've been a meal of their own. If you like lava cake you simply MUST try this one. We've never had better. All of the fine details of this dining experience made this a night we will not soon forget. Great spot! Very lovely grounds and charming ambience. Has a great pirate-ship style jungle gym for kids plus bocce ball, and corn hole. Took a sailing ropes tying course with Captain Mark and was really fun and educational. Great knowledge to have by the sea! do not recommend. restaurant cancelled same day because they allegedly had an issue with their Credit card machine and therefore could only serve guests of the hotel. I suspect that they canceled me to give my table to a guest of the hotel but not because of a credit card server issue. Because if that's all it was, why not call me and offer me the opportunity to dine there but pay in cash? we were unable to get a reservation anywhere comparable locally given the last minute notice as it is the busy season. after many years of loyally visiting restaurants at both ocean house and weekapaug when we visit Rhode Island each summer, we will not be going back. read more

I've said it before and i will say it again. I firmly believe the bartender makes the bar! And I was proven right yet again when our party had cocktails at Weekpaug Inn over the weekend. While not a "bar" bar Dillon, their resident bartender is one of the best we've met in recent years. He was personable, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. My only guess is they are under and/or poorly-staffed and/or under-trained significantly in food preparation (and elsewhere if you do a little qualitative guest resesrch with folks on the beach the last 2 days here!)... and service. Eg, A terrible 1st night experience for our family dinner of 9 tonight, including 4 children! We had a suite (3 bedrooms) and a regular room, and made an advance reservation for dinner before arriving. It was not the waiter's fault. We sat down at 5:45pm; ordered drinks + appetizers + main course at the same time at 6pm. Drinks took 23 minutes, appetizers arrived at 7:35pm (95 minutes after order placed), and: - clam chowder soup was cold, I sent it back and 14 minutes later it arrived hot ... in a half-filled cup. - 2 watermelon salads were sent back; they arrived on warm plates and the watermelon was like slush, inedible. The main course arrived at 8:05pm, 125 minutes after ordering. 4 of the 9 orders were not good (quality taste-wise) and the kids by then were so restless and frustrated they couldn't eat. I had fried clams and they & the french fries arrived at room temperature; the clams were overpriced by 50+% based on the number of them (few!) and taste. Our waiter put the full order in at the same time. I gave him a good tip on a far inflated total price of the dinner (X-dessert, we had to go off-premise to get dessert... we did not want to wait another hour-plus), since it was not his fault. The kitchen staff is unable to handle the capacity and/or I assume a summer intern was standing in to handle all the orders. E.g, My daughter was told that lunch opens at 11am. She arrived at 11:20am with 2 kids (my wife joined at 11:45am), and 1 table was occupied by 1 person when she arrived. She was then told when she sat down it opened at 11:30am. She ordered promptly at 11:30am (the person at other table ordered later). After 45 minutes, my daughter sees that 2 tables on the deck above, who arrived and ordered after she did, had their food already as did 1 table in the area she was in. She and my wife began to assume they were on some 'serve them late' list! She talked to the staff and manager. The food eventually came and: -- 2 flank steaks for the kids arrived completely under-cooked; 1 was returned and a medium hamburger was ordered to replace it (it later arrived mostly raw/a little rare in a few places... it was sent back to be recooked to medium and then arrived completely rare but the child ate about 40% of it, the outer part of it)... the other flank steak the child had 1 bite only since he was so hungry, but since he could not chew it and since it was so late he decided to eat french fries only. -- My wife observed the 2 cooks from her table; the shorter of the 2 was eating his own food in the preparation area; she could not tell if he washed his hands before preparing food again. read more

Went to the Weekapaug Inn for a wedding in June. The Inn itself was beautiful and so were the surroundings but the service was severely lacking. Then take in consideration I paid $800 a night for a suite with another couple. First of all when I checked inn, I told the staff I would like my bed to be turned down and pulled out. The suite had 2 rooms and I was on the pull out sofa. So I went to the wedding reception and at about 9:57 PM but before 10 I went to get my drink before the bar closed. Well the bar tender said the bar was closed. I told the individual it is not 10 PM. He proceeded to argue and debate with me. I told him to check his watch. He said well its 10 now. You would think at such a classy place the bar would be open maybe till 10:10 or at least a few minutes while people are waiting. So next we go to return to our room and the pull out was not made or pulled out. What do you expect for $800 a night. So I have to call them and go upstairs. They send staff downstairs who bring sheets. However, instead of making the bed they just throw them down and leave. So this time all of us in the room go upstairs and tell the management this is unacceptable. Management finally did the right thing and gave us another room to stay in. However, the last thing I wanted to do before going to bed was handle something like this. Then on top of everything, when we checked out, the Inn charged us for 2 additional occupants in the suite. I did not argue this but found this to be very unprofessional. Take into account how much we spent plus I can't imagine how much the wedding, reception, and brunch cost. My final thoughts are the place was beautiful but the service and attention to detail was severely lacking in parts. If if I was staying at a Days Inn I could see something like this happening but not at one America's premier seaside inns. read more

Wow what a restaurant. Tucked at the end of the road, the Weekapaug Inn is a pearl in Southern RI. This restaurant will become the talk of the state once people realize it is here, much like Matunuck Oyster Bar has become. Owned by the same owners as The Ocean House, this provides a slightly more affordable reach for a 5 star restaurant. Obviously the service is impeccable, the restaurant itself has a nice cozy but upscale feel. Doesn't hurt you are looking at the water. I had squid ink pasta with clams. The slight taste of the ink with the shellfish was very delicious, especially if you love seafood. Please I beg you, go here if you are thinking about that nice dinner out, you will know what I mean when you walk out of there a very happy man or lady. read more

This is very belated - my whole family stayed in the Weekapaug in for a night to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday about 6 weeks ago, maybe a month after it had reopened. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the rooms perfectly outfitted. They offer every possible amenity, from free hot chocolate and sodas on the third floor to the sport equipment available for use. My nieces and nephews were super into playing shuffleboard, too. All in all, fabulous. We had dinner (with a set-up of eight adults and seven children) in the main dining room, and unfortunately it seemed like they just weren't up to speed enough. The food was absolutely delicious - filet mignon and some little shortrib croquette thing that was to die for - but it took ten minutes after we all sat down to get water, and almost an hour before the salads/appetizers came out. So, they have some kinks to iron out with the waitstaff. But, as I mentioned, they had a) only just opened, and b) we were a huge rowdy group. So I'll give them a pass. If you can swing the price, it's totally worth it. read more

Had a special occasion meal here this month and was very impressed with the entire experience. Just a note that you shouldn't rely on GPS to get you there, as usually it sends you to the back entrance which you really can't use if you're not a guest. Everything was very professional and tasteful, from the dining room to the table settings and our waiter and other staff. The menu is a bit on the small side as far as options, but what they have is all locally sourced and prepared very skillfully. We started off with a cheese plate that had several local-ish (Vermont is sort of local, right?) cheeses and accompanying additions like honey in the comb, chutney and such. Served at the right temperature, all were delicious. You can order a number of very good wines by the glass and they pour from the bottle at your table which is the best way to do this. I had scallops, which were cooked just slightly too much - not enough to make me enjoy them any less though. Really very good, as were all the accompaniments on the plate. My wife ordered a beef dish medium-well (sigh) which we did need to ask for it to be cooked a bit more. They handled this graciously and a few minutes later returned with a re-plated and beautiful dish, cooked per her request. She loved it, and I thought it was delicious too even if it was not to my preference (med-rare). We had the Pot de Creme for desert which was exceptional in flavor and presentation. This is one of the finer dining options in the state, and with one of the most attractive settings. I highly recommend it. If I could give 4 and a half stars I would - just a little bit more consistency and it's an easy 5. Look forward to returning. read more

Great view, beautiful hotel and good service. Disappointed with the food though. Clam chowder was my favorite one from all the dishes we ordered. Burrata and tomatoes was ok, nothing special, could have used better tasting tomatoes which are in season now. Lobster roll had no flavor at all, such a disappointment for $20.00 or more. Strawberry shortcake was fined, strawberries were very tasty, but the shortcake was dry and had no flaky texture. Overall, not happy with the meal on that beautiful and pretentious place. The staff is amazing! We spent the weekend for my birthday. They went out of their way to make my birthday special. Every staff member I had the pleasure of interacting with wished me a happy birthday. The inn has this wonderful atmosphere and they really go above and beyond to make every guest's visit perfect. Dinner at the restaurant was one of the best meals I've ever had. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive. They helped me pick the right wine to go with my meal and checked on us frequently to make sure everything was to our liking. They really treated us like family! This place will not disappoint you! The food was very high quality. Attention to detail and obviously a Chef that takes pride in their work. There was coffee, espresso and fresh cookies and bottled water available throughout the day. The room was perfect, with 4 Seasons attention to detail. The overall environment was peaceful and accommodating. What I like best, though, was the staff. The were engaged when you passed by, and seemed to really enjoy that we were a guest. The Weekapaug Inn is an absolute jewel. Seasonal floral bouquets, thick quality linens, leather and fetching pillows abound, tasteful art, waterworks bathroom fixtures...the list goes on and on. Eat in the formal dining room overlooking the sunset with a warm orange sky and deep blue bay views. The food is rich & delicious with some delicate touches. Drink a lovely bottle from a perfect stem from the careful selection of wines although concise. Make sure you're not wearing thong sandals or leather flip flops they won't let you in. Don't bother with the casual bistro fare served at lunch and the deck. read more

While the views and property are beautiful, the restaurant is terrible. We went for lunch and the staff seemed irritated and overwhelmed. The clam chowder was cold and lumpy. We sent it back, and it returned in the same cup with the same spoon - and at the same temperature. Inedible. The steak skewers were tiny and charred. The lobster roll was full of lobster meat that was so finely diced it was indiscernible from crab meat. The other items we ordered never even made it out to our table. It's a beautiful spot.
