My family and I stayed for one night. Check-in was easy, as well as the parking situation, everything is clearly marked. Front desk ladies were extremely nice. The room was fine, nothing special. The biggest complaint is the shower. The tub would not drain and you basically had to stand in a couple of inches of water towards the end of your shower. The lights were flickering and the thermostat was extremely difficult to regulate. One of the redeeming qualities is the location. Did a search on Grok about valet parking at the hotel and it said they did have valet parking. Upon arriving they did not. Had to park in the garage for the Cedar Hotel. We were told they discontinued it for the Great Cedar during Covid and never brought it back. Check in we reserved a king bed, no smoking. They were out at a check in time of 4pm. We ended up with a 2 double beds. It wasn't a problem but bears mentioning. We had a military discount which helped. We ended up on the 7th floor a few rooms down from the elevation. This made it easy when we left the room. The room furniture of old and marked up. But the bed was pretty comfortable. The towels were very nice and there were plenty of them The TV was in good working order. The bathroom floor was cracked Everything was clean, but I would still take precaution on the remote. Just stayed here the night before thanksgiving. I had a free room and was actually able to get a free suite! I didn't know what to expect. I'm sorry I didn't take pics. This room was great! It had 2 bathrooms, a little bar area with a sink, nice size room with a tv. That was the "suite" part. The "bedroom" was big. We had a king size bed and then the bathroom was awesome. Two separate sinks, jacuzzi tub and shower and the toilet had its own room! lol. It was clean and really nice. Unfortunately, the ice machine and elevators were at the complete opposite end of the hallway but that's not even important. We will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity!!! read more

I haven't stayed at this Tower while at Foxwoods but I have ventured into the building while going to the arcade. This is to me the oldest of the Foxwoods buildings. I love the Native American art that's displayed in the lobby and on the walls throughout. Gives history to the building. read more

Stayed at grand cedar for one night. Check in took less than 5 minutes z. The room the cleanest room I ever seen in a long time. Kudos to your housekeeping staff. I like the fact that you can open the windows a little bit for some fresh air. Bed was very comfortable and I got a really good night of sleep. I stayed in a king suite here a few years back and loved it, and I was excited to stay here again. We didn't get a suite this time, just the regular king room. The room was outdated and some things were very worn. The furniture had some dings and the chair by the window had a layer of dust on it. The bathroom could use a complete re-model with the exception of the shower head which worked amazingly. The bed was comfortable enough, sheets were clean, and the room came with the basic necessities (coffee, mini fridge, soaps, and hairdryer). I may have missed this the first time I stayed here, but the walls are paper thin. Some drunk guys were in the hall way talking very loudly past 2 a.m., and in the morning our neighbors cell phone alarm clock went off and we could hear it clear as day. Normally I'm not too picky, the only thing I really care about is cleanlieness and no bugs. However, I expect better if I'm paying over $500 for one night. read more

My husband and I planned a little getaway for a night. I usually go to Mohegan but I thought let's switch it up to Foxwoods ( i have only been once before). I was reading the reviews and almost canceled but thought let us just try it. NEVER again. We checked into the Great Cedar, and for a $380 room, I was extremely disappointed. First- they only had smoking rooms (I asked for nonsmoking during the reservation. Not sure why they even give an option if they won't honor it). When I asked if we could be changed to a nonsmoking room the woman at the desk just said nope- it's first come first serve with an attitude. Once again, why offer it then? Not everyone can check in right at 4pm. Second-The hallway once you walked off the elevator smelled awful. It was a smoke and musty smell. We had a room a few doors down from the elevator and you could hear people all night long. The room was not clean and it was dated. I legit felt like I was at a sketchy motel. Once again, if I am spending a few hundred I would at least like to be in a clean room. I should have taken a photo. The bathroom counter was not clean, the bathtub/shower has scum on it and the carpet looks like it has never been cleaned. I would not suggest staying here if you are sensitive to smoke. It can be smelled from all over. The casino is okay but confusing to navigate and dated. I understand this is an older hotel and I more "budget friendly" option (well, kind of) but Foxwoods/ Grand Cedar need to take some pride in it when it comes to cleaning and maintenance, clearly, I'm not the only one that feels that way...... read more

I tried to call for room service from their phone and was unable to ( you would think they should have staff have that on the checklist) I had to use my own phone and wait 10 min until I got to a real person. Kind of disappointed for a luxury casino at $200 per night. I understand for appearance to put the mini fridge behind a cabinet door. However, since they both opened in different directions, it was difficult each time I wanted a drink. I also thought the room would have a nice view. At least trees or the city, not a rooftop. Arrived early for dinner and a show. New to the hotel (usually did a day trip) had to learn too about dealing how to get where we had to go with a motorized scooter. Once I did find check in, my questions were answered. Forgetting to request a handicapped room, no worries, the scooter fit in both the elevator and the room. The heat was on in the room and finding the thermostat was in order. On the wall, of course! The temperature was switched to a cooler setting, took a while for it to get there. Foxwoods, what happened? The room was filthy, and outdated. Non smoking room reeked like cigarettes, spent the night rubbing my eyes and itching my skin from the amount of dust particles floating around my room. The fox tower was closed, a handful of games were out of order, broken glass bottles and beer spilt all over the elevator. Recently stayed in one of the "luxurious" king suites for our anniversary trip. Anything but! Room outdated, outlets not working, constantly running toilets, dirty room, curtains squealed when closing/opening. Poorly lit bathrooms. Check-in was late, due to "the room being cleaned", but the room was not clean. Bathroom was without soap, crumbs on counters, floors not vacuumed. When I called to have housekeeping come with supplies, they rudely shoved a trash bag full of towels and toiletries at me. The next morning I talked to a manager at Grand Pequot, as there was no manager on duty at the Great Cedar. He assured me that my concerns would be passed on. Later that day, we heard housekeeping outside, so we went for lunch. Got back up to the room, and they had made up the bed but not cleaned anything. I called the front desk and was put on hold for 30 minutes, until I decided to go down to talk to someone in person. The manager hadn't been told that there was a call for her, and she hadn't been notified about our issues. I asked that our room be cleaned at 7 as we were trying to relax before dinner. At 5:30 housekeeping was banging on the door, and was incredulous when I told them to come back at 7. Our room was eventually cleaned. I don't know if the other hotels are this poorly managed, but I won't be betting on them being any better. read more

Upon check in, there was feces in the toilet - and the sink was filthy. We then found penis shaped glitter on the floor. The hotel only offered to comp our $25 daily resort fee (which is ridiculous to charge right now anyway as COVID rules it's closed). We couldn't check out as they suggested because we'd been drinking. The blankets are barely more than two sheets together. There are holes in the curtains. The furniture is worn out (and old would be an understatement.) There's build up on high touch areas(meaning not only is special care not being taken but they haven't been cleaned in a long time). The sprinklers are so covered in dust we couldn't be sure it was a sprinkler. The walls are so thin, you can hear everything your neighbors are doing - last night was angry karaoke time well through midnight? Now (9am) the cleaning crew is yelling to each other in the hallways. I've never been so unsatisfied with lodgings in my life. Wow and someone just asked the cleaning crew to tone it down and I could hear them yell at him to check out if he didn't like it. We were supposed to stay for two nights - but after staying here one night we're leaving now. No one from the hotel offered to do anything acceptable. Reporting to the health department. So unacceptable. We've recently stayed at Grand Pequot and were super satisfied. This is the first hotel I've stayed at in my life that I felt uncomfortable showering in. Pros: Great location. The elevators are by the food court, casino, shops and walking distances to a lot of restaurants. The suite was fabulously spacious! Double doors to the bedroom, king size bed, 2 bathrooms, 1 jacuzzi, bar area and lounge area by the windows. Cons: For a hotel, it sure felt like we were staying at seedy motel. There were parties and yelling from all the surrounding rooms around us. The corridor and room had a brothel feel. Musty and gross. We kept the window open for the majority of the time we stayed there so we asked if they can send some blankets to us. The strange overly-friendly staff who did bring it up to us, after just saying hello, he intrusively walked into the room without as much as a "may I come in to drop of the (1) blanket?" and started making uncomfortable small talk. TRAINWRECK!! If I could give this a negative rating I would. The hotel is old, and extremely outdated. My sister and I checked in for my nieces bachelorette party. My sister has awful allergies so she called one month before to make sure that she was in a non smoking room. She called again a week before and was assured that this was all set. Upon checking in she was told that we were in a smoking room. When my sister explained all the trouble that she went through to make sure this was non smoking, the supervisor Charlene yelled at her and swore at her. Charlene said that my sister was irritating her because Charlene advised there were no non smoking rooms that she could have and my sister said that Charlene did not care about hotel guests. Charlene demanded an apology from my sister. Which she did not get since the supervisor was swearing at my sister. We in the end was changed to a non smoking room. The room was old, outdated, and smelled musty. When we went to shower the handle was dangling off of the shower. We called the front desk and were told to pull it out (not my first day taking showers!!). Maintenance came and gave me a handout on how to use the shower. I advised that the point it that if I pull this, then handle will come off. They sent a work order for this, not that it mattered much since all but 4 of the shower head holes were clogged, so only a small amount of water came out. What water did come out did not drain so by the end of the shower you were in 4 inches of water. The room was sometimes 35 degrees and when you wake up 85 degrees, so you were either freezing or sweltering without touching the thermostat. We had left overs that we wanted to put into the fridge but when opening the fridge it smelled like someone vomited in this. We did call the desk. Someone came up about an hour later and offered us another fridge. They brought the fridge in, and then we watched as the maintenance person took our gross vomit smelling fridge (not cleaned) into another hotel room, and left...Nobody cleaned our room during our stay, not that we cared, we just wanted some clean towels. Hard to come by. On top of this all. I had a Foxwoods gift card that I received for my birthday. I was told that this could not be used in the casino, or restaurants, or the outlets. I attempted to use this five times before I went to the front desk and had the pleasure of speaking to Janeen. Another awful person that they somehow employee. She was rude and useless and spoke to me with a scowl and her arms crossed. We asked where we could use the GC and if she had a list of places that took this. She said all of them took it. I let her know that we attempted five times and nobody was taking it. She said that I could use this at one of the Dunkins, which one we asked. She said walk around and ask, I dont know which one we own! We asked if they dont know who takes this, then how will the consumer know, and she again said that we would have to walk form business to business and ask.... We said that we were only here for the weekend. She did not care. She was smirking and condescending and did not even attempt to help us. We asked for the manager twice during our stay, but nobody would ever let us talk to one. Very odd behavior. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel stay ever, and for $1120 for two nights, I should have just burned it. I will never be back, but I will however let everyone know who will listen about our disgusting experience. I heard that Mohecan is nice! read more

My boyfriend & I stayed over for my birthday this past week. we booked the suite because we wanted to have an enjoyable night together. We did not get that. We checked in and went up to our room which was so far down the hallway. Once we got in the room, it was fine but a little outdated as expected since it's Foxwoods first hotel. The toilet clogged about an hour in to us being in the room, we called and someone came up and unclogged it. Went to dinner, came back and the toilet clogged again along with the jacuzzi not working. We checked out early because we were extremely disappointed in our room. We told the front desk person about the issues and we just got a call back and was told that the jacuzzi was working perfectly fine, but it was not. We pressed the button a couple of different times and you could hear the click of it wanting to turn on and then nothing happened. I really expected more from Foxwoods because I have stayed here numerous times, and personally it ruined my little birthday getaway. I'm very disappointed. read more

The hotel has definitely seen better days. I rented a one bedroom suite. They wouldn't let us check in until after 5:00, even though they know we had been waiting since 1:00. Stayed in a "King Suite" and at $600 for a Saturday night, literally any chain hotel would've been better. This room was extremely dated, dirty, and poorly maintained, The carpets were frayed, the furniture was stained, the faucets were loose and dirty, the grout was black, the "suite" kitchen was bare except for a refrigerator (no minibar!), the bathroom was something you'd find in a 1990 cheap rental apartment, and the room doors were cheap double non-hotel wood doors that not only didn't self-close, they rattled anytime anyone else closed their door, which was approximately every 5 minutes during daytime hours (and I have no idea how a hotel would be permitted to use these double doors in a room given their lack of fire resistance and non-self-closing feature). Never *ever* *ever* again would we stay at Foxwoods. It's a complete dump that looks like the owners haven't put money back into it in 20 years. It also looks like there are some severe safety shortcuts ongoing. It was like walking back into a bad time warp. And to boot, they have valet parking closed for no reason at the Great Cedar, so have fun finding the self-parking and hiking through a parking garage and 1980's looking mall walkway for 15 minutes to get to the check-in.....Because that's what I love doing when spending $1000+ on two nights at a "AAA 3-diamond hotel" (lol!). It's like this hotel was trying to NOT make money in every way possible and then make sure you'd never come back again. Mission accomplished! read more

DO NOT FOR ANY REASON (EVEN IF FREE) STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Only pleasant thing about my experience here was that they were able to get me in my dungeon a half hour early. On my drive in i spoke with the front desk to ask if they could assist me in obtaining an early check in. Her response was "well you can go to the front desk when you get here and ask for an early check in, and if the room isn't ready concierge can hold your bags" I appreciate you taking your time to tell me that but if there was nothing you could do, it would've been easier just to say just that. Valet parking was perfect and courteous. Check in was fairly simple and nothing major to complain about there. When we go to our room it was clean and well taken care of. Dated but clean nonetheless. We spent the day shopping and gambling. When we got back to our room around 10 to get to bed we pulled back the sheets and when our horrors began. The sheets we made of 100 grit sandpaper, full of black hair and has scattered blood spots on them. The pillows weren't bad but also covered is a slightly lesser grit sandpaper. I've stayed in 100's of hotels in my years of traveling for leisure in and work and in and out of this country and this is second to the worst hotel/motel I've ever stayed in. Since we were too exhausted to complain to switch rooms we stripped the bed rotated the sheets and decided to take one for the team. Our next door neighbor decided to start snoring so loud it sounded like he was in the bed on the side of me. This went on for hours. Now 2am he woke up and decided to drop the loudest deuce in recorded history. After flushing the toilet 3 times (which sounds like the space shuttle taking off) he finally went to bed for another round of earth shattering snoring. My wife and i powered up our sound machines on the highest setting and were actually able to fall asleep for a half hour. Then the delivery trucks arrived. 3am. We woke up l like we were under attack. Our room was conveniently located adjacent to the loading docks. After we spent 20 mins laughing about how atrocious this night has been we decide to pack up our stuff and check out. Again valet was quick and courteous. I went to the front desk and asked them to cancel the $7.25 apple that was scheduled to arrive at my holding cell for 8:30am, front desk said it was impossible since room service has been closed since 11pm. (pretty safe to assume I ordered it before then, but she could grasp that concept) I then explained to there the monstrosity that was my room and experience and her response was "OK your all set, the room service was cancelled and the room will be charge to your card." I just walked away, shaking my head. Again, please avoid this place at all cost. I've stayed at Great Cedar countless times as I occasionally consult for the poker room. If you're a poker player, this is the closest hotel to the tournament area. And if you're a pro, you ask for a low numbered room at check-in so you can use the "employees only" service elevator. The rooms are good enough, though probably overpriced for what they are, especially on the weekends. They do have a nice sitting area by the window that I never get to utilize, and in-room coffee and free Internet. They even figured out how to make it so you don't need to re-sign on every day, only once a week. Is this a 5* hotel? No, but it serves it's purpose. read more

I stayed one night, Saturday Into Sunday and it cost me $542.74 which included resort fees, daily rate, and other fees that I'm not even sure about honestly. This hotel is nothing less than short of a motel, very disappointing. Aside from the hotel itself being old and everything worn out, I don't even think they cleaned the room before I got there, the only thing that was clean was the bed. The toilet had ring stains inside, towels were dirty with stains, the one couch they had by the window was dusty, and I can go on and on. I usually stay at the Fox Tower but decided to give great cedar a chance because it was in the main area and thought it would be more convenient. I'm aware that great cedar is old but I did not expect any establishment within Foxwoods to be this terrible I really did not feel like I was at Foxwoods when I was inside this room/hotel. First off, terrible check in experience, took 2 1/2 hours. The first woman that helped us told us that we could only make our room deposit on the credit card we booked with, they could not take any other cards and we did not have it. No big deal, partially our fault although I didn't see it anywhere in our reservation confirmation. Because of this, we were told that we would have to wait for the shift manager and that she would call us when she came in. We waited 2 hours just to find out the manager came in shortly after but never called to help us. Made no difference, we still got no where with anyone and finally offered to just cancel the room and rebook it (this was never even suggested in the time we waited), and they ended up charging us a $75 just to do that. When we got to the room there were stains EVERYWHERE, which is disgusting under normal circumstances but totally unacceptable during covid. There was a sticky substance on our coffee table, stuff on the benches and a red stain on the comforter that I used before noticing. When we called for new bedding we received another stained comforter. We'll be sticking to Mohegan in the future. read more

Never thought I'd write a review that includes a complaint about seagulls, but here we go.. If you book at this hotel, ask for a room that does NOT face the courtyard area. What seems charming at first.. the sound of seagulls flying around the courtyard (really the roof of the casino) .. quickly becomes not so charming. The seagulls DO NOT SLEEP and they make sure you don't either. 2am, 4am, all hours.. those gulls are squawking, and they are LOUD. You can close your windows and drapes, turn up the AC, doesn't matter. You can't drown them out. Looking down in the courtyard you can see that the hotel has made a feeble attempt at managing the situation. There's one solitary mechanical owl with a head that spins every few minutes. The seagulls don't care. They land right next to it. The hotel needs to do better. Maybe spikes on top of flat spaces so that they can't land? Perhaps there are other measures. Also, on a totally different topic, our check in process was maddening and awful. Check in on Sundays is 5pm - super late. They said they'd text us when a room became available but they never did. If you want to ask someone for status on your room, you have to stand in a super long line, only to be met with hostility and zero information. "We'll text you." After 5pm, we resorted to taking turns standing in the line, getting to the front to ask about status. We finally ended up standing at the front of the line and just letting person after person go ahead of us, while waiting for this text message that never came. Finally, at about 5:30, I approached the counter and begged - we have dinner reservations, we really want to freshen up first. The hostile woman at the counter said she couldn't help me, but I asked for a manager. The manager, after hearing my plea, reluctantly "moved some things around" and was able to give us a room. read more

Stayed here last week. The room was pretty decent. My issue is with checking in. I got there around 1 and went and asked if I could check in. They didn't have a non-smoking room available and "put me on the list" to call me when it was ready. Then 2 pm passed, no call. Then 3 pm passed, no call. My phone was about to die so I went down around 3:30ish to ask. At first the old lady said that it wasn't ready which was surprising because 4 pm is check in. Then she said something about how I asked to be away from the scaffolding (I have no idea what that means and said no such thing). Then she looked something else up and found a non-smoking room "close enough" to what I wanted. So was the room not ready for 3 hours because of something I didn't even request? Or was this crazy old lady just out of it. She was very nice though. The room was fine, other than the TV being really iffy on certain channels. It seemed like it could die at any point. TVs are very cheap to replace. That wouldn't hurt to do so. All in all, it wasn't bad and I would probably stay here again. I think I prefer the Fox Tower though. read more

This is a great location at Foxwoods if you are looking to save a little $ compared to a few of their other hotels but still be right in the middle of it all. Check-in was quick and friendly and our room was ready right at 4PM including our request to be smoke free and close to an elevator. They renovated the rooms here a few years back and they look a lot nicer than when we stayed here about 5-6 years ago. The room was very clean and roomy. The only problem was that there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms are not sound proof at all. All night long you could constantly hear people and doors slamming. Overall I would most definitely recommend this hotel as a way to save a little $. read more

Just spent 2 nights at Great Cedar. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. In fact we found that to be the case throughout the casino. The hotel itself is nice but just tired. Our room on the 7th floor was clean but there were cosmetic things that needed fixing. The bed was comfortable enough but the chairs and little bench by the window alcove were very uncomfortable and old. I would have liked a shower vs a tub shower combo. I found the tub a bit high to step into for my shower so that could be a fall risk to older folks staying there. I think it's time for a total upgrade to the hotel. I would stay there again but only if it were the only hotel available. It wouldn't be my first choice next time. I don't think the price of $369 per night reflected the quality of the hotel. The price point should be more like $150. read more

After many years of staying at Foxwoods tower with good experiences I decided to stay at this hotel. I wish I spent the extra to stay elsewhere. The room was dingy, dirty & outdated. The wall paper was peeling in several places, the tv stand was bashed, outlets missing covers, sprinkler sitting in a cut hole in sheet rock. The refrigerator didn't keep things cold & the worst was while in the shower I grabbed a washcloth & it had black smudges on it.. It's expensive to go away for a night, especially at a casino so it stinks to go away frustrated at your experience. read more

Very very disappointed. Paid around $500 for this outdated old nasty smelling room at the great cedar. Considering the price I thought it would have been a great place to stay. Boy we're we wrong. So disgusting and overpriced. Never ever again. Stay at fox tower if you are going to Foxwoods. Bugs on floor. Cockroach on table. Pee in toilet. Spider webs on ceiling. And hair in the tub. I stayed here for the first time last night. It was a free hotel room offer and I had a choice of that or Fox Tower, which I've stayed in numerous times. I wanted to try Great Cedar because of the location and even after reading the reviews, I still decided to give it a try. I was on the 5th floor with a view of the AC units, etc.. but also had a nice view of the CT woods and what I think is the zip line that's due to open this spring. That would have been cool to watch. The lounge chair near the window was wicked comfortable and would have been a nice play to sit and read if I'd had the time. The room itself was on the small side, but it was just me so it was fine, there was a mini fridge, in room safe, coffee maker and I think that was it, I didn't even use any of them thanks to Starbucks being right down the elevator and my jewelry was on me at all times. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was a little outdated with the tub/shower combo, I prefer a walk in shower, but it was just one morning and it was fine, water pressure was great and water was nice and hot. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. Everything was clean, the heat and tv worked and the walls weren't falling down, so I was happy! Will I stay here again? probably.. although I prefer the more modern Fox Tower, I like the location of Great Cedar. read more

You know the expression "you get what you pay for"? If you're unlucky enough to have to pay for lodging at the Great Cedar, that phrase is false. The hallway leading to the room was long and narrow. The room itself was dingy. The shower was extremely hard to turn on. It required being pulled out but only if you did it exactly straight out. The ice machine on our floor wasn't working. Hotel guests and employees in the hallway sounded like they were shouting. The person next door attempted to open the door adjourning our room at midnight. The second morning I got the shower on (yeah) but even turned up as far to the hot side as possible, my shower was tepid at best.
