Giant Tiger is a discount stores that sells pretty much everything from clothing, house hold items, food, books and gifts. It's similar to a Zellers but on a much smaller scale. Granted. not everything is top of the line quality and you really have to look through their stock, but sometimes it's worth taking the time. I'm impressed with the kids clothing and accessories as they carry brand names that I currently use - kuddos in my books. Some of the mens and womens clothing is questionable, but it's not the place to buy your wardrobe basics but is a decent place to get the trendy things you know you'll wear for this season and want something new for the next. The household section has a good offering and college students - heads up - it's a good place to get your dorm room outfitted. They have decent bedroom sets and decor items. Their curtains is something that caught my eye as they are reasonably priced and are of reasonable quality. Let's face it, you'll want to redecorate you're area after 5 or so years and don't want to feel guilty for putting away the ultra-expensive curtains you bought. The food section is very small but if you forgot milk, cheese or the like you can pick it up here. The packaged and non-perishable foods are price well and worth stocking up on. They have a small area of toys, which of course is the first draw for kids. They have brand name items so I feel better looking through and buying here. Of course like any place you buy toys you need to really what quality and let's face it, large toy store sell crap too. Giant Tiger is a fun place to poke through and you may find some treasures to take home.

The selection is primarily for kids, and unfortunately no Dora but Minnie would do. The items I got were $1.25 and a chocolate bar for 79 cents. There was no line up and the cashier was friendly! I find that compared to certain other dollar stores, this one has actually fairly nice stuff. I bought some plastic dinosaurs there to be used as wedding decorations, and they're actually fairly realistic and stand nicely. Their craft section is a bit small (which is expected given that they're not a dedicated craft store) but they have a fair bit of stuff, and it's easily comparable to what you'd find at places like Michael's. I was impressed by that :) They also have some rather nice stationery & cards. Also, they do bulk orders as well, which is pretty cool (I didn't end up needing to do this cos it turns out they actually had 20+ bags of craft moss on hand, but I did call to ask in advance & they do it for people). She let me browse the store without pressure (which I really appreciate because some stores can put a lot of pressure on you to purchase). Other than Christmas decorations, Jilly's a bit of everything! There is clothing in the back (it's very expensive though - so expensive I almost choked on my gum). With so many Hallmark locations in Edmonton now closed, it's great that the WEM and Southgate Mall stores are still here. These two locations have become the last reliable places in the city to find quality cards, gifts, Keepsakes, and those nostalgic items Hallmark is known for. The WEM store really carries that comforting mix of tradition and thoughtful merchandise.When I worked in Manulife Bldg I regularly stopped and shopped at then Hallmark in Edm City Centre which sadly closed!! Igot some bargains even then!! The Snoopy/Charlie Brown piece was a perfect find, and the candle selection was better than expected. Maybe they are thinking it's a good strategy for their overpriced gifts and to compete with another card store that often has buy one get one 50% off. I noticed the table at the front with albums including ones for baby, and wedding. They would make a great gift and many were marked down at least 30-40% off the ticketed price. I found a premade baby scrapbook which would be ideal for a new mom as she wouldn't have time to scrapbook and could just slap photos on pages already with embellishments and could add the stickers to it. When I went to pay for the album, it was cheaper than the ticketed sale price, yay! I like taking a look at the Christmas ornaments and if you plan on getting one for yourself or a friend, you may want to nab it months before as they can sell out of the popular ones. I have waited until after and the selection is slim but 40-50% off is a more reasonable price if you don't mind putting it on your tree after the day. I'm also a fan of their Peanuts collection. I have the talking Peanut characters they put out for Christmas a few years ago and the prices were good. I bring them out every December and they still talk. If I need a card for any occasion or a holiday gift, I'll be back to check out the selection.

It's got the same random assortment of items, all for cheap prices. There's home good, makeup, stuffed animals, toys, etc etc. I have a particular love for the arts and crafts and home sections. Everything that I have bought from Miniso has been high quality and affordable. Dare I say it... I prefer Miniso to Oomomo.

I was surprised that they've expanded to Canada so I had to pay it a visit. The store itself is small, but there is just enough room to manoeuvre a regular stroller but the aisles are tight & not in straight rows like most dollar stores. Pricing is not cheap like a dollar store, but affordable for what they offer. I would say item quality is superior than dollar store for many things. Items are also packaged very nicely & uniformly, look stylish/trendy/classy, some are also unique, and kid friendly, so it seems like your getting a good deal. I've never really had complaints about the stuff I've received from there or from what I bought. The staff are pretty friendly too & although there is very limited parking in the front, there's also parking stalls available at the back of the building too. I'd definitely come back to find some new things that 'I didn't know I needed in my life until I got there' type stuff.
