Great Buns Bakery
Monique W.

After taking a test at the Brainseed Testing center, I looked up on Yelp for nearby bakeries. The first one that popped up on the list was Great Buns Bakery, only a few miles away from the testing center. When I drove into the parking lot, I was in awe at how big the the bakery was! The bakery was originally founded in 1982. It's family owned and has been open for decades! Great Buns Bakery also supplies many local Las Vegas restaurants, hotels, and casinos! I ended up stopping inside on a Saturday morning around 10:00 A.M. As soon as I entered, the smell of the desserts and fresh bread was amazing! There as a lineup of fresh pastries, croissants, sticky buns, danishes, cookies, cakes and more! The store had plenty of bread! There was sourdough, Marble rye, baguettes, loaves, dinner rolls, garlic bread and more. I had to pick up a fresh loaf of Sourdough bread while I was here. If you arrive early after the store opening, you'll be able to get the freshest batch of bread since there bakery is right inside the shop! The prices at Great Buns Bakery is amazing. I couldn't believe how many products only costed a few dollars! I ended up getting the following Cinnamon Roll Pecan Roll Red Velvet Cupcake Apple filled cinnamon roll (It looked like a cinnamon roll with apple pieces) Coffee Cake Pizza flatbread Carrot Cake [2] Bagels (Onion and garlic) Sourdough Bread Service was great. I had a team member help me wrap up a few of the items like the Red Velvet Cupcake, Carrot Cake, and the Apple Crumb. The food was fantastic. I ended up eating the Cinnamon roll first and warmed it up in the microwave. The cinnamon roll was soft and there was plenty of icing. My husband enjoyed the Pecan roll and our daughter liked the Red Velvet Cupcake. The Apple filled cinnamon roll was unique. It was a first time where I had a treat that had the cinnamon roll style dough, but apple filling in the middle. It was scrumptious! The Coffee Cake was good. There was a crumble on each side of the slice. I ended up eating the [2] bagels for breakfast on two different days. I used cream cheese one day and a garlic/herb on another day. The bagels were fantastic! The Sourdough bread lasted several days. If only Great Buns Bakery wasn't so far away, I'd be coming here often! Can't believe I've lived in Vegas this long without knowing the carb paradise was right here.

The pastries are so fresh and multiple ones to choose from. The bread is also fresh and numerous kinds to choose from. There are loafs, rolls, and cookies. The team is always there to assist and are so friendly. The shop is always clean and the smell when you walk in is so inviting. This shop is off Tropicana Road stop by anytime and enjoy a pastry.

Great big bakery on Tropicana and Pecos. I didn't even know about, just stumbled across and was amazed, that it's a pretty big bakery. Inside smells amazing, ladies at the counter are very nice, so much to choose from. We got bread, bagels and some pastries. Loved bagels, bread was good too. But non of the pastries I actually liked, they looked great, but tasted like any store bought pastries (maybe even worse). So I definitely would buy bread there, but will opt out from sweets.

I went in the day before Thanksgiving and it was busy! I can hear other customers talk about coming there once a week and I could see why. I bought a little of everything and my family loved it. Staff were great despite how busy it was. Price/value and quality were great. Definitely come back to try more when we are in the area.

The place smells amazing as soon as you walk in. I usually come to get their blueberry muffins or cinnamon rolls and the quality is amazing. The muffins are anywhere from $1.00-$1.90. They do have a $5 minimum when you use a card so I usually grab a few small treats.

Pastry case goodies. I highly recommend the éclair and cream puffs.

Wow! Great Buns Bakery is absolutely amazing! Hands down one of the top bakeries I've had the pleasure of visiting. Not only do they have every manner of bagel, bread, roll and croissant, they also have cookies, cakes, pastries and danishes. Staff was super friendly, and all the bread and pastries we chose so far have been delicious. What was also fun was when you enter, look to your left and you can glance through to the back and see the "behind the scenes" of the bakery in full swing. The prices here are extremely affordable too. It's almost unbelievable. They even have a large rack of breads and other "day old" items that are reduced in price even further. Simply can't say enough good things about the excellent quality & selection offered here. Definitely go check them out if you haven't already.

The entrance with their cute sign.

Great Buns, Great Cakes and Great Crumb cakes!!! Love...love...love...this bakery! They have a huge selection of fresh baked goods. You can get loaves and cakes and you can get a slice or a piece, for one, to go. The employees are super friendly, & helpful. I'm usually in and out in 5 minutes, on my way to work. The parking is right out front for an easy in and out visit. Check it out!

This place is fantastic!!! It smells so good when you walk in. When you walk in you're greeted by amazing smells and friendly cashiers. Everything is freshly made, and you could tell by the taste that they use quality ingredients. This was my first time going inside but it won't be my last!! I wish I would've taken more pictures, as they have a wide selection of bread, bagels, cupcakes and pastries. It's something for everyone

They also make pizza-like focaccia. Straight out of the oven deliciousness!

Didn't realize they make their own breads here as well. I missed out on their coffee though. I didn't realize til later that Gabi is Korean for coffee! Salmon brioche: This is a salmon toast. The salmon tasted very fresh and was lightly smoked. The ricotta cream cheese was light. Brioche was toasted perfectly to hold everything together. It was very good. Potato chowder: This was topped with bacon and shredded cheese. It was perfectly seasoned and not too salty like I've had elsewhere. As creamy as it was, it wasn't heavy. Ube cheesecake: This was delicious! Great ube flavor! The ube cheesecake was very smooth and creamy. There's a layer of ube cake on top of the cheesecake. So good! Butterfly latte: I paid extra for oat milk. What is butterfly anyway? It was pretty complex. It tasted like cotton candy and was slightly minty. I liked it. Yuzu omija: I think this was like a lemonade, or yuzumade. It was refreshing and also not overly sweet. I'm not usually a fan of yuzu, but this I can get behind.

Despite cooling down a bit, they stayed pretty warm (I still microwaved for good measure). These cookies are incredibly gooey, not at all cakey, and just sweet enough to still be flavorful. It didn't taste artificial at all like at St**b**ks. I'm pretty sure they make the apple syrup in house. Perfectly spiced and comforting. I would come back just for this drink but unfortunately I think it's a seasonal item. Strawberry Mille-Feuille: They make this fresh, so I had to wait about 5-10 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. The pastry was beautifully crispy and the cream had the perfect texture with visible vanilla bean specks. I even found myself licking the paper it came on and didn't care who saw me because it was that good. Mushroom Crêpe: Yes, it's worth the hype. The photos online make it look very cheesy, but it's actually quite light. My husband doesn't like cheese and couldn't even taste it. I ordered it without mayo to keep it a little lighter. The tiny mushrooms were adorable, and it comes served in a cute crêpe holder. Coconut Cake: The cake was incredibly soft and fluffy with custard cream layered in between. They didn't have individual slices, so I ordered the mini cake for $17. Yes, I ate the entire thing. Yes, it was delicious. Yes, I think I've had enough coconut cake now in one sitting to last a lifetime. Yuzu Panna Cotta: Very unique. I haven't seen this dessert anywhere else. The yuzu adds a bright tangy flavor that almost makes the panna cotta taste like a creamy citrus yogurt. I'm really glad I tried it. Matcha Latte: Strong, high-quality matcha. Sometimes matcha drinks at cafés taste watered down, but not here. It's topped with matcha foam and little matcha brownie bits, which makes it extra special. Strawberry Dessert: My kids loved this. Every bite was a surprise. My 9-year-old found beans in one bite and then a big strawberry hidden in the middle. It was fun watching them discover it. Parking is easy and straightforward, and the café itself is absolutely adorable. If you have time, sit down and enjoy the experience.

The staff is kind, and your food is brought right to your seat, which is a very nice touch. Note: they do use latex gloves, so keep that in mind if you have allergies. I also enjoyed looking at the décor and the display of pastries, drinks, and items available for purchase to take home. Overall, it was a very nice experience. I wish I'd bought four my last day in Vegas because Dad accidentally ate the one for Mom instead of his apple pastry ... and he said there wasn't any filling. Yes, there wasn't supposed to be filling in the crispy, flaky, cinnamon sugar dusted DKA! I first had Cronuts at Paris Baguette so I knew what I was about to experience back at the Grove in 2019. I ordered one here in Vegas and this month's flavor was coconut creme. Very light in flavor, same heaviness I've gotten used to from croissant donuts. They were also offering milk chocolate flavor this month that I wasn't aware of when ordering. I wanted to try the madeleines after gifting a friend the new IOTA hand cream made in partnership with DA himself. I ordered the lemon madeleines instead and was confused since they were coated in this earl grey white chocolate. The madeleine was drenched in maybe milk so it was so soft like tres leches with a lemon custard center. I went back the next day and ordered fresh, piped and baked to order mini madeleines-- twenty pieces for ~$12?! I should've bought at least two orders! And they smell just like the hand cream! So I went and bought myself the cream from ULTA to remember my DA Vegas breakfast runs while staying at Caesar's Palace. Also, my sister LOVES the pain au chocolat! She had it twice and probably should've bought more. It's pricey at $10 but worth the splurge. DKAs also run at $10 each. Get a nice four piece box as a gift for about $41. Oh! I forgot I bought three canelés. Ended up eating two of them. Opt for the bag instead of the box to save money. Custardy center with a chewy exterior, tastes a bit like slightly burnt brown sugar, in the best way possible. Finally tried the infamous chocolate chip cookie shot with steamed Madagascar vanilla milk! The cookie is warmed in their oven for ultimate melty chocolate-ness. I'm glad I shared this. Maybe I'll try the torched marshmallow ice cream bar one day. Staff is super sweet and friendly. Line goes by quickly. They have a few tables to sit at for a quick snack or breakfast.

We ordered two mango mochi and the mochi beignets. The mango mochi was honestly underwhelming. It's essentially a regular piece of mango -- the kind you could easily find at Costco or a grocery store -- wrapped in mochi. For $8 a piece, it didn't feel worth the price, especially considering all the hype online. I think it would have felt more special if they used higher-quality or imported mangoes. The mochi beignets were better and definitely enjoyable, but they still didn't stand out enough for me to fully understand the craze. One thing I did appreciate was the staff. Even though the café was extremely busy, everyone was still friendly and working hard to keep things moving. The ambiance is nice enough for a quick stop, though nothing particularly memorable. Parking can also be difficult during peak hours, so plan accordingly.
