The strawberry picking baskets were a flat rate (which we liked versus other places that charge by weight). It was pretty reasonable at $23 for a bucket and the strawberries were delish. Once inside there's other activities to pay for like the monster truck ride, petting farm, corn maze, and other kids activities. The hayride and pumpkin patch are both free. The hayride goes from the parking/monster truck area, to the market/restaurant area, to the pumpkin patch, and then back to the first spot of the parking/monster truck area. I found the fall festival to be really cute and great for photo ops. I really enjoyed each of the different sections of the farm. Decided to get on the monster truck before leaving (9/10); it was my first time riding in/on one and it was pretty fun. To ride was $10 per person. All of the staff members were friendly and made light conversation. I can def see myself returning especially since they also have a Christmas tree farm and a restaurant on site. My overall rate of experience : 9.5/10

They have buckets for you to grab, or you can bring your own. You get charged per pound that you pick and pay when you're done! They had so many strawberries ready to pick, I had so much fun doing this with my friends kids! I was already planning on making a homemade strawberry shortcake when I got home. They have a cute little coffee truck which I obviously had to stop by. If you have a strawberry latte during strawberry season - you can count on me to grab one! It was so good, and not too sweet or tart from the strawberry! I also had to grab their strawberry donuts from the farm stand. Which, needless to say ... they did not make it home with me. We scarfed those down! Incredible. I loved the "petting zoo" area. You can feed the goats, sit in the rabbit pen and give them some pets, and play with the piglets! Such a cute add on to this experience; and the petting zoo was no charge! They also have a ton of toys and bounce houses for the kiddos. If you're looking for a fun strawberry picking experience, give them a try!

They do provide wagons so you don't have to carry around your pumpkins. It is all outside so dress accordingly. We love the fact that everything is local and locally owned. Also free to enter. Located right off of South Battlefield, closest corner Hillwell/Peaceful Rd, Warren Farms is a…read morestrawberry u-pick farm run by a wonderful family, the Warrens. They are known for their "Tink's Berries", lovingly named after the man who started it all, who has since passed on. After the devastating loss of the head of the family, his wife, children and grandchildren revived the farm last year and brought back the berries that everyone in the community so sorely missed! They grow (don't quote me on it) three types of strawberries. You can pick them yourself or they also have strawberries already picked ready for purchase at the shack by the entrance (obviously at a premium). My children and I love to pick the berries ourselves, the fun is as much the hunt as it is eating them! What I LOVE about this farm: 1. the Warrens are such a warm and welcoming family 2. they don't spray anything on the berries (so you can taste test them right on the field ;) and don't worry, it's encouraged, so don't be embarrassed if you show up with your kids stained with strawberry juice when checking out haha 3. the berries have their own unique character and shape. We love looking for what others would call misfits and the smaller ones are tastier too in my opinion. Just be warned, because they are not sprayed with any chemicals, if you don't plan to eat them the day of when it has been picked, put them in the fridge! Some things to note: - the entrance to the farm is actually on Peaceful Rd, marked with the archway sign "Warren Farms" - if you've ever been to Chubbie's Pumpkin Patch, the location might be familiar as they lease the land to them in the Fall - plenty of parking on site, but be warned, it's not paved - depending on the weather, if it has rained or not, I, always by default, wear rain boots (to any farm for that matter), because some patches may be muddy or have puddles of rainwater - they take cash or credit - they also have bottles of water for sale and pots of flower plants are available for purchase too - artwork around the farm was done by a family friend - a food trailer and special events like cookouts are in the works (the container painted with the characters behind the berry shack is equipped with a kitchen) - some local businesses incorporate their berries in their products and offerings Get out there and enjoy the sunshine and pick some strawberries. It'll be a berry good time! hahaha Stay safe, Friends!

Disclaimer - I've also never been to Chubby's so I passed the entrance twice before I found it. The farm is HUGE and easy to see from Battlefield, but the entrance is actually on Peaceful Rd, very close to Battlefield. There is ample parking (non-paved) and a well-marked walkway to the field entrance and farm stand. I didn't think I would be able to attend the YEE and ended up being free the same day (I had already canceled my RSVP so went just as a plain ole customer) and I brought my daughter around 5pm on Sunday for some picking. As I mentioned, the fields are expansive! I had my bucket weighed and asked the attendant if she recommended a good spot. She said her favorites were way out - the Chandler variety I believe - and we set out. She also very kindly let us know that "sampling was encouraged!" My toddler sure loved hearing that! She sent us in the right direction, that's for sure. Within 15 minutes, our bucket was filled to overflowing with ripe, sweet berries! It almost hurt my heart to leave so many berries - nearly overripe - untouched. We simply don't have the space for freezing and I don't have the skills for canning, but would definitely recommend visiting this farm if you have one or the other! Our large bucket was about $14 ($3.29/lb). My daughter was ready to eat as soon as we got home. We got plenty for eating this week and enough to make a strawberry pie for dessert. I'm so glad I was guided to Warren Farms. I look forward to returning at least once more this season and again in years to come!

Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my…read moreopinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!. I have been passing by these stores in almost every city in Hampton Roads Virginia ( don't ask me where it got that name because I don't have a clue,I'm not from this area ) but as I was saying I passed by this supermarket chain countless times and never purchased anything that I can remember but I finally decided to give them a try and I brought a loaf of bread and some blueberries ( I love them ). The store didn't have a huge variety of items ti chose from but they have all your basic needs like bread, eggs, pastries, juice beverages etc etc. I would come again to make a purchase if needed but if you noticed I left out a star and that's because you should have your own bag or a shopping cart with you at the time of your purchase and of course I didn't have either so... some may say that's my fault but in my defense I had no idea!.

I am not a shopper, so when I get excited about a store, that should tell you something. I recently…read moreheard through the grapevine that Aldi was coming to town in Portsmouth. I knew the name, but really didn't know much about it. After researching the company this morning, I found out Aldi is owned by the same company as Trader Joe's. Aldi opened in Germany in 1961, and the first US store opened in Iowa in 1976. The more I read about this grocery store chain, the more I wanted to go check it out. So, off I went. First things first--you need to bring two things with you when you go to Aldi: 1) Bring a quarter for your shopping cart. You will get it back once you return your cart. The idea is that Aldi doesn't have to hire someone to retrieve carts scattered throughout the parking lot, and that keeps their costs down. 2) Bring your own bags because Aldi does not provide any for you. I think it is a fantastic idea! I'm sure the real reason is to keep costs down, but I love that it makes people use their own bags. *FYI--You will also have to bag your own items after paying for your things--they have a long counter for you to do that. When I found out that Aldi was a discounted grocery store, it gave me images of dented cans, rotten produce, and cheap brands. I was delighted to see that their small, but quality inventory was impressive; they carry lots of organic items and a large gluten-free line. Most everything I needed today I was able to purchase at Aldi. The store was clean, organized, and small. I can imagine it being crowded during peak hours, but it was quiet and mostly empty when I was there around 10:00 a.m. on a Monday. I liked the layout of the store, and I enjoyed the décor--not flashy, but comfortable. The cashier who rang up my items was very friendly and helpful--he asked if I was able to find everything, and when I told him it was my first time visiting, he said there was a $10-off coupon, which he went ahead and gave to me. I am in love with Aldi, and I plan to shop here on a regular basis even though I have to drive 25 minutes to get there. I found the prices to be extremely affordable compared to any other store I'd shopped at (except maybe the commissary but with much less hassle). I left with a shopping cart full of food and it cost me $70. You be the judge!
