I've been looking forward to strawberry picking at Henley for my birthday for a few weeks now…read moreduring the pandemic and movement restrictions that are in place. They update their facebook page daily due to weather and strawberry conditions so it's easy to keep an eye out before you make the drive. It's buried deep in Pungo off a charming road and a beautiful leisurely drive through the countryside. We easily found it, pulled in, and weighed our baskets and were sent off to one of the fields to pick. They had 2-3 open at the time with several rows to choose from and plenty of parking. It was muddy, which I knew from their warning to wear the proper shoes and clothes, but we managed to find a few rows and found tons of available strawberries. I was worried about there not being enough for everyone but that was not a problem - we quickly picked about 7 pounds of beautifully ripe red berries and headed back to the main station to weigh them. We stood in a socially distanced line where I browsed their veggie plants (for making your own home garden) and their beautiful potted flowers. They have some friendly wildlife here as well you can interact with as the goats were happy to come to the fence and be seen. Great experience - I now have two jars of fresh strawberry jam and tons of frozen strawberries for smoothies! This may be a new tradition.

Strawberry picking in Pungo is an annual tradition for so many people across Hampton Roads. We may not have the festival this year and there isn't as much fanfare around the activity, but the farms are still open! We visited a week and a half ago on a beautiful Saturday morning. When we pulled on the property an employee gave us the rundown on their social distancing procedures and pointed us in the right direction to get started. They have two different types of strawberries, one type are the ones better for jams, and then the other type are good for snacking. Sorry, I don't remember the name of each type. If you brought your own bucket you need to get that weighed before entering the field. They have signs everywhere to remind you of tehir social distancing guidelines. The staff and most customers were wearing masks in the market area. Out in the field few were wearing masks, but everyone seemed to be pretty good about keeping their distance from each other. Most importantly, the strawberries were FANTASTIC! We ate most of ours as a snack, but made a puree from them too. It was a great mental distraction from everything happening in the world and a fun way to enjoy a beautiful day!

The guy at the register was like do you need all those produce bags, and I jokingly told them if they had bags for groceries I wouldn't be trying to make lemonade outta these lemons. What else was I to do? Lol. They have a nice assortment of cheeses for the bougie in you!! Lol. Now anyone can afford the stinky cheeses. I like the dips as well. Your charcuterie board will be nice if you get what you need here, and very reasonably priced. I do enjoy they're little desserts as well. The meats at this location look good. Not every Aldi or Lidl has decent looking meat. So shout out to them for that. I do wish they had a bakery section like Lidl. But it's still a nice store. The employees are nice. Don't forget your quarter when you go, and be prepared to pay $.12 minimum depending on the bag you choose. All in all Aldi is a good store. I do wish they had a rewards program. But I guess they feel the prices are good enough!!! Anyhoo, check them out!!

And the trued and true classic flavors like cherry vanilla, pistachio, Rocky road, all yummy and creamy and taste so natural unlike other brands that are way too sweet. I also like the International frozen items that Aldi Carrie's - they vary but when they are available, I definitely stock up! Today I bought the frozen German cakes - apple walnut, almond... the other week I got the strawberry cream and chocolate hazelnut. All have light airy consistency and oh do good ingredients - like the chocolate ganache in the chocolate hazelnut cake is definitely Belgian chocolate! Don't be fooled, once you thaw these babies, you'll be hooked! I also got Asian frozen foods. Love love love the Fusia brand since they come in great portions (usually good for 2, think date night to impress with your culinary skills)...today I got the Shrimp fried rice and the Kung Pao Noodles with shrimp. Oh and in my way out, gif that pumpkin gif just $2.89...and I eyed that last outdoor rug ... what a find at $29.99! See you all at Aldi!!!

The parking area had plenty of spots and the lot was clean as was the walk up. I scored on a cart that still had a quarter in it.... Score! The store departs from other Aldi immediately when entering. The produce area was neat and decently full. Even remarkable my visit was after 7 PM when inventory is often low. The rest of the store was also in pretty darn good shape considering the timing. Inventory was either full or at minimum had something. Most surprising were their top eggs. The organic cage free eggs often sold out had very low inventory, but was perfect for me to get a dozen. These eggs are delicious and a bargain at $4. Also the organic 2% milk often low, or sold out was in stock. Also a bargain. I chatted with a manager on the floor and told her how nice the store was. Checkout was smooth utilizing a credit card. Staff was friendly. I would absolutely return and go out of my way to do so.

I'm more willing to try new things because it's more affordable here. I find something new every time I go. The store has a lot of off brand items, but they're close in comparison to name brand. Except cereal!! Cinnamon toast crunch as an off brand taste like cardboard. Lol. I especially love the seasoning section. They have lots of choices. Their candy section is cool as well if you're a chocolate lover. I can always find fun flavors. The assorted crackers are a great addition to any charcuterie or cheese board. Good quality!!! The fig crackers and spinach spread go well together. You do have to purchase bags or bring your own, and carts are a quarter. So save that extra quarter in your car.. The produce section is pretty fresh with a good variety of fruits and veggies. The breads are inexpensive and good quality as well. They even have brioche and naan. Where else can you get hamburger buns for $1.10? Probably not many places nowadays. All in all Aldi's is a pretty nice store. There aren't tons of employees like other grocery stores, so that's why the prices are slightly cheaper. The store was clean and the guy at the register was nice. Check them out!!!

I saw an item on the weekly recap of what's new on YouTube. I've been looking for something similar without any luck so I definitely got excited when I saw it. This was my third and last stop without any luck. The previous two locations just said they didn't have it and went about their business. When I asked at this location, the manager said she would go on the computer to see if she could find it. When she returned she said she researched December, January and all ads available to her. Then she reached out to other managers for help. Unfortunately she couldn't find the item but I truly appreciated her efforts in trying to locate the item for me. This is not my usual Aldi's but may have to rethink that. Also, while I waited, I had time to walk the store. It was clean and very well stocked. Everything looked fresh and appetizing. And just in case someone is wondering what the item was, I will post a picture just in case.
