Strawberries are always big and sweet. And of course cannot leave without letting the grandkids play in the play area.

We've come here two years in a row while visiting the area during October, and it's exactly as I'd hope for a small low key farm adventure. There is a tractor ride, barrel ride (kids only), plenty of friendly animals to pet, games like corn hole and giant connect 4, corn maze, and even a few bounce houses. It's not crowded, priced very reasonably, and feels like fall. Apple cider was a delicious bonus!

Hickory Ridge Farm was the highlight of our family's Mother's Day weekend! We all enjoyed the food and drinks we ordered, had fun with the farm animals and puppies, and found some great items at the market. We also loaded up on fresh strawberries from the strawberry field. Thank you for a wonderful day!

My mom and I were looking for a place that sold fresh duck eggs as well as fresh chicken eggs and came across this farmer's market. Fresh produce is available here, from squash, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruits (seasonal) etc.... You can also find Amish salted butter logs, fresh baked bread and pound cakes. This place does "pick your own" strawberries when they're in season as well. Two issues I had with this farmer's market were: 1. The pull in/pull out isn't well marked for a two lane road that has a speed limit above 45. Getting out of this place also takes patience and good timing as people are speeding coming through that area and it is HIGHLY trafficked. 2. The duck eggs AND chicken eggs were washed already. I would have preferred an option to have unwashed, unrefrigerated eggs... I like to leave my eggs on the counter top and not be forced to immediately put them in the refrigerator. All-in-all, a good little farmer's market with a decent variety of goods for sale. Friendly customer service, and good prices for fresh farm produce.

I wanted to be Festive AF this year especially for spooky season because its my favorite time of the year. So we decided to pay Hickory Ridge Farm a visit for there pumpkin patch festivities. We Visited this place before in the summer for honey , jams, and freshly pickled jalapenos which are soooo good. But had no idea there pumpkin patch was this fun! Theres a toddler zone, for the little kiddies with all sorts of activites and animals for them to look at. Theres also a hay ride, a tractor ride, and a cool cornfield maze. Of course there are also pumpkins. Lots of pumpkins. There are some pumpkins already picked and up front for you to purchase. Also there is a real patch full of pumpkins still on growing on the stems if you want to pumpkin hunt or pick them yourself. My daughter and I pumpkin hunted and had fun doing it. They have little carts for you to wheel them around in. The pumpkins were so pretty. There were very colorful ones and even white ones all sizes and shapes. There was food carts there and even a grill that sold hamburgers and hot dogs. If you have a dog who behaves you can even bring it there to walk with you if you want. There animal friendly:) I'm definitely coming back for strawberry season!

Beautiful farm! Lots of family fun! I go every season when I visit my family in VA. They have strawberries in the summer, pumpkins in the fall, Christmas trees in the winter. There's always something for the kids to do and great options in the market area.

    Delicious strawberries for the pickin'!

What a fun time! Took the family here to pick strawberries and made such good memory for the books. The staff is kind and friendly! Strawberries were big and juicy. Cute animals to say hey to! Lots of sun for the kids!

This review is for the current fall festivities. I thought this place was great! I took my grandma and toddler. Toddler zone was awesome, endless amount of fun. Toddler maze, toddler bounce house, toddler play area in general kept my kid happy for quite some time. We loved seeing the farm animals in their enclosure, the rabbit and the baby chickens, they all looked healthy. We paid for two pony rides, $6 each ride /4 laps around the small corral. Ponies were very gentle and well cared for. My toddler also loved the barrel car ride! We bought 2 freshly picked pumpkins and enjoyed the snacks they have for purchase. They take cash or credit. I absolutely loved the adult corn maze & the beautiful Sunflower Garden! The sunflower garden is all the way in the back of the farm, it was too far of a walk for my grandma, but I definitely enjoyed it ! All of the staff was polite and friend I realize this is a farm, however, I strongly feel that if you have chickens and farm animals around whom a young child will pet or come into contact with dirt etc that a child may touch, I believe running water and soap should be provided. I am a huge advocate for hand washing especially after playing in a sand pit, when food is available for sale and tables are provided for eating snacks. They do have hand sanitizer and a spout that pumps out water onto the ground, but no soap. For further visits I will be bring my own soap. There are three porta potties on site, one includes a baby changing table.

Great day to go strawberry picking so we went. The farm is just past Hickory HS with clear sign and directions to park. The drive up pick up/order was super organized and the friendly faces greeted us everywhere. I can't say how nice it was to not have a senior citizen looking bored assisting us with everything. We parked, and was greeted by Mrs. Farmer John and gave us the run down on how to pick strawberries. We purchased buckets, sanitized, followed the crowd and were on our way. I am so glad I read that I should wear boots....I stepped in a ton of mud. We picked and picked and enjoyed the fresh air. Since it was a nice day, bending down and picking strawberries was not a chore. Also, since we dont have elementary/preschool children it was nice we didn't have to rush. Plenty of space and rows to social distance. So cool. In all, we spent about an hour picking and talking. When we were getting ready to leave, I stopped for duck eggs (never had them since I am a city girl). Fresh out. But, little Farm John told me were to go in case I REALLY had my heart set out on them. Nope. Not driving to Myock for duck eggs. We were luck enough to purchase the last banana cream pie and were on our way. Since the pie was FANTASTIC and the berries super sweet, we will be back--most likely for the duck eggs and another pie.

First time strawberry picking and I loved it. Good place to take the kiddies. I also seen a small sunflower patch, I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the right season. This place is great for kids, they have a bouncing house and some animals you can pet as well as other areas suited for kids. There is also a small store you can buy other fruits & plants if you want more than what's in season.

    Rosemary F.

Hickory Ridge Farm is such a gem in the area!! The staff went above & beyond to accommodate my sons for the horse ride, as well as the tractor ride. It's an all around great place just to bring kids to play on the sand pit or the little houses, but going strawberry picking or pumpkin picking is extra fun! Can't wait to keep going back throughout the years.

    Strawberry season!!!!

This was actually my first day out since quarantine. We were at the grocery store and I said to my other half... HEY!!!! Would you like to go strawberry picking. Lol! He's never been to a strawberry field. So he was like hellllll yessss! So we basically turned the day into a day date. Lol! As we arrived at Hickory Ridge Farms around 12:15pm there were actually alotttt of people out there. I was a bit nervous. But we did have a our mask with us. Some people did have there mask on.. But you knowwwww you have a few rebellious people that just don't care. But everyone made sure to stay 6 feet away from others. And the farm had their guidelines posted up. It was such a beautiful day out! It was a great workout too! We felt like two kids looking for easter eggs. We were trying to find all the juicy and bright red strawberries. We purchased the small basket that was $7.00. The cool thing is you pay before. Couple years ago before the Covid-19 you use to pay afterwards. But it's better this way... Cause their are less people standing around in a line. They did have fresh eggs, and alot of others things for sale. I wanted to check it out after we pick the strawberries. But I honestly didn't want to stand in the line that long. I'm still in the quarantine state of mind. Lol! Just being honest. But it was a great day out to feel the sun on our skin! And I was super happy they were open for business!

    Pumpkin picking, hayrides and animals!

They are known for their "Tink's Berries", lovingly named after the man who started it all, who has since passed on. After the devastating loss of the head of the family, his wife, children and grandchildren revived the farm last year and brought back the berries that everyone in the community so sorely missed! They grow (don't quote me on it) three types of strawberries. You can pick them yourself or they also have strawberries already picked ready for purchase at the shack by the entrance (obviously at a premium). My children and I love to pick the berries ourselves, the fun is as much the hunt as it is eating them! What I LOVE about this farm: 1. the Warrens are such a warm and welcoming family 2. they don't spray anything on the berries (so you can taste test them right on the field ;) and don't worry, it's encouraged, so don't be embarrassed if you show up with your kids stained with strawberry juice when checking out haha 3. the berries have their own unique character and shape. We love looking for what others would call misfits and the smaller ones are tastier too in my opinion. Just be warned, because they are not sprayed with any chemicals, if you don't plan to eat them the day of when it has been picked, put them in the fridge! Some things to note: - the entrance to the farm is actually on Peaceful Rd, marked with the archway sign "Warren Farms" - if you've ever been to Chubbie's Pumpkin Patch, the location might be familiar as they lease the land to them in the Fall - plenty of parking on site, but be warned, it's not paved - depending on the weather, if it has rained or not, I, always by default, wear rain boots (to any farm for that matter), because some patches may be muddy or have puddles of rainwater - they take cash or credit - they also have bottles of water for sale and pots of flower plants are available for purchase too - artwork around the farm was done by a family friend - a food trailer and special events like cookouts are in the works (the container painted with the characters behind the berry shack is equipped with a kitchen) - some local businesses incorporate their berries in their products and offerings Get out there and enjoy the sunshine and pick some strawberries. It'll be a berry good time! hahaha Stay safe, Friends!

Disclaimer - I've also never been to Chubby's so I passed the entrance twice before I found it. The farm is HUGE and easy to see from Battlefield, but the entrance is actually on Peaceful Rd, very close to Battlefield. There is ample parking (non-paved) and a well-marked walkway to the field entrance and farm stand. I didn't think I would be able to attend the YEE and ended up being free the same day (I had already canceled my RSVP so went just as a plain ole customer) and I brought my daughter around 5pm on Sunday for some picking. As I mentioned, the fields are expansive! I had my bucket weighed and asked the attendant if she recommended a good spot. She said her favorites were way out - the Chandler variety I believe - and we set out. She also very kindly let us know that "sampling was encouraged!" My toddler sure loved hearing that! She sent us in the right direction, that's for sure. Within 15 minutes, our bucket was filled to overflowing with ripe, sweet berries! It almost hurt my heart to leave so many berries - nearly overripe - untouched. We simply don't have the space for freezing and I don't have the skills for canning, but would definitely recommend visiting this farm if you have one or the other! Our large bucket was about $14 ($3.29/lb). My daughter was ready to eat as soon as we got home. We got plenty for eating this week and enough to make a strawberry pie for dessert. I'm so glad I was guided to Warren Farms. I look forward to returning at least once more this season and again in years to come!

It was muddy, which I knew from their warning to wear the proper shoes and clothes, but we managed to find a few rows and found tons of available strawberries. I was worried about there not being enough for everyone but that was not a problem - we quickly picked about 7 pounds of beautifully ripe red berries and headed back to the main station to weigh them. We stood in a socially distanced line where I browsed their veggie plants (for making your own home garden) and their beautiful potted flowers. Most importantly, the strawberries were FANTASTIC! We ate most of ours as a snack, but made a puree from them too. It was a great mental distraction from everything happening in the world and a fun way to enjoy a beautiful day!
