I recently had the pleasure--and I use that term very loosely--of attending the The Great Big Game Show for a friend's birthday, and let me tell you... it was an experience. First, let's start with the positives, because I believe in balance. The facility? Beautiful. Clean, modern, very "we spent all the budget on aesthetics and vibes." Walking in, you feel like you're about to be on a legit game show--lights, setup, energy... I was ready to win money I was never going to receive. And then... the games started. Now listen. I don't expect Jeopardy! level hosting, but I do expect the host to understand the rules of the games they are... hosting. At one point, I genuinely thought we were all part of a social experiment to see how long a group of adults could pretend to understand instructions that absolutely no one understood--including the person explaining them. There were multiple moments where I locked eyes with my friends like: "Are you getting this?" "No." "Is she getting this?" "Also no." Honestly, I was about this close to politely walking over, grabbing the tablet, and saying, "Don't worry, I got it from here--let's all learn together." Because the energy was giving substitute teacher on their first day with no lesson plan. We spent half the time playing the games and the other half trying to decode what the hell we were supposed to be doing. It was like escape room logic... except we weren't trying to escape, we were trying to understand basic instructions. That said, we laughed A LOT--but not always for the reasons they intended. So if you're looking for a night of fun, confusion, teamwork, and questioning your listening comprehension skills... this is your spot. Would I go back? Yes... but next time I'm bringing a whistle, a clipboard, and stepping in as co-host. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to the great Big Game show for a night of fun. If you're into competitive games, this is the place for you. It can be a bit tricky trying to get there the first time, but it is directly across from the food court on the second floor. If you park in the garage in the blue section, you can access an elevator and get there easier. This was my first time experiencing this game show. I believe they have been around for about a year or so. I went for an early celebration for my birthday and had a ball. The games are so fun and brings out the kidding you. My house was funny and made our time great. I believe you can have up to eight people on both teams, which makes it even better. I highly suggest you go here for a fun night out, a celebration, birthdays, or if you just wanna have a good time on a random day. I can't wait to go back! read more

ok, so im usually a little late with my reviews but i typically remember all the important details. First off, this place is incredibly fun. Not only did my team win, but we kicked butt! The games are very fair and they are a mix of lucky, skill, and knowledge. Almost anyone can play because the games are tailored to who is playing. There's a very fun game at the end that can change the winner so rack up as many points as you can early. Ok, i MUST say that my favorite part of my who experience, even greateer than winning, was Brandon and Lynorque (Q, for short). These two people mad the experience for us. Lynorque was an amazingly fun host. She was fair and explained all te rules clearly. She has so much character and GBGS in Oakbrook should be proud to have her. Ok, so Brandon was the intial contact at GBGS. He was at the front desk and as we waited for the rest of our party he was just the best person to set the mood for the games. He wasn't acting, nothing was phony about his personality. He was patient and friendly even while we has to wait a few minutes longer for the gamews to begin. He goes above and beyond for total strangers. I apprecaite Brandon and Lynorque and i have encouraged my friends and family to speak up about their experience as well. Thanks for eveything. This experience was so much fun. I recommended if you are looking for a new and unique idea for your group. We were able to choose five game shows, we got an hour to play and we were broken up into two teams. We got a real live game show host who was awesome, the room felt like a real game show set, and the games were fun yet challenging. You are allowed to take as many photos and videos as you'd like and the game show also takes video of your experience! read more

Came in during the soft launch with a preview special. The check in process was seamless and the staff were warm and welcoming. There are supposed to be 2 game options but for the purpose of the soft launch we were introduced to a general game show experience. Each game room can host up to 14 players, who are divided into 2 teams. The game show is also led by a host which kept our group engaged and moved the games along at a good pace. The games were a wide range including block building, trivia and plinko-esque. The Oakbrook mall area has multiple gaming options and this one is a welcome addition as it offers something a bit different than the others. The regular price is $40 pp which is about the going rate in the area for an hr of entertainment. Through the opening weekend/holiday, they are running a gift card special of $100/4 players which could be a great stocking stuffer. Overall, I would recommend this for a fun night with a group of friends/family. read more

Our host, Mike, was witty, steady, and gracefully lead us from start to finish through everything. We had high school students through great grandma and everyone was able to participate! Yikessss I love that this place comes with a host that is super patient, fun, and a great timekeeper to make sure your group stays on one objective: FUN! A series of trivia and physical games are alternated throughout the time you're there. If the place is not busy, they will let you extend for a reasonable price. Reservations are easy but you just book early because they're very popular right now so everyone has been all up on booking this place. Bring your brains, your grit, and your competitive soul. The kid hosting our session did nothing to make it seem like we were really doing a game show and the stupid cartoon character clips were insulting for the amount money we paid. It was basically like playing on a big computer but you get to stand by a buzzer. Waste of time and money!! We went here yesterday for our 1st annual offsite department outting. It was a total of 18. We were separated into 4 groups. Everyone was so nice from the host Sam and the young man that explained everything. I was the captain for our team. We started our competition in Studio A. Our host was Abby. She was so cool and explained everything. We were Red Team. We played a couple of games one was Elementary Game [1st-5th] which was a trivia. But the last game we played in this room. Both teams were tied blue team 2750 red team 2750. So we had to toss the dice. That team will win. We won and we decided to move to the next room. Studio B. The host in this room was Sophia. She also did an amazing job explaining everything. In this room we were the Blue team . We won in this room. The games were so cool. What a fun place! Went here with a group of 6 and we played various games that reminded me of the Price Is Right and every typical game show game. My favorite part was spinning the wheel and seeing how many points I could rack up. The host of my game was lovely, and she made sure to know all of our names and our hobbies. We had a large group of people taking over two game rooms. When the final round happened they only let the winning teams play each other and had the two losing teams watch. When we asked why half the group had to sit out and just watch instead of play each other for third place they said it was a capacity issue of their employees even though we had paid for all 18 of us to play for the entire time. Elle and Mike did not help at all when we tried to work with them on this issue and said it wasn't their problem. 9 People sat out and didn't get to play anything for 15 minutes because of the Great Big Game Show's capacity issues and no refunds or solutions were offered by anyone who worked there. read more

This place is a great idea. However, there seems to be something not right about the scheduling/signing up. Our group of four signed up with another group of 4 and a group of 6. It was sort of an every man for yourself situation when walking into the room. They don't assign you to teams or anything. The two other groups both took a side, which meant our group of four had to either send one player to the group of 6 or stay together and not have a buzzer to play. Both my husband and I went to talk to the girl at the front desk and were told that we could either split up or not have a buzzer. We were with our two kids and we didn't want to split up. They weren't willing to help us fairly divide the teams with the other groups, so that no one person had to be alone from a group. It was very awkward and unfair for us. I sent them an email afterwards and they didn't reply. It seems that when you sign up , you should be made aware of the situation and also be given an opportunity to preselect your team. This is a flaw in the design for sure. While my kids had an ok time, I was so disappointed to pay $40 for me to get watch the rest of my family play. They didn't offer any adjustment or refund. If you plan to go with kids, keep this in mind. I wouldn't go back again, as I can't even guarantee my entire group will get to play. A nice idea for entertainment gone very bad. Poor customer service on top of it. Don't take a family here. Update: The comment here from the business seems to be just for appearances. They haven't responded to me in yelp or in email. read more
