Recently stayed here for Canada Day in a traditional room with 2 queen beds…read more Primarily wanted to stay closer to Fort George National Historic Site due to the festivities. During Canada Day, Fort George has a BBQ (hamburgers and hotdogs), live music, canon performance and fireworks. This location is ideal if you want some freedom to rest / go elsewhere throughout the day. Only a 6 min walk or so from Fort George. Room: A bit dated but if you are just staying one night it's fine. I wasn't in the room much. However, traditional rooms face parking lot so I recommend asking for 3rd floor. It is a bit dark but more privacy on a higher floor. Also I think room could have been cleaner, there was a lot of dust collected by the windows. Service: Staff at hotel are quite nice and during Canada Day, they served sangria in the lobby and had some cute Canada Day sparklers, stickers, a small candy bar, etc. They also text you asking if you need anything and rate your experience with them. Amenities: On the Basement level, open 7:00am-10:30pm there is an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and gym available. By the elevators they also provided a tea/coffee bar. I went right at 7am and no one was there, nice and quiet so you have it to yourself. Another service they have is a shuttle. You can request it to take you to fort york, into the town, and other areas but it's close to a lot of places so we never ended up using this service. Overall, not a bad stay and I wouldn't mind coming back if this location was near some activities I wanted to check out like Canada Day. If just coming for a regular stay/ anniversary/ celebration - I would lean towards like deluxe rooms and above. For instance, deluxe rooms face the marina with lots of sun but only has king beds.

The menus online are wrong. Do t pay attention to those. We got in before the crowd. Food is all homemade and kind of inventive. Good combinations of flavors and fresh ingredients. Kathy and Mom got the deep dish pancake special with berry compote, pumpkin crumbles, and bacon. This was huge and amazing. I should have gotten that. I stole a bit or 2 and it was very good! Also get it with french toast and not a pancake. Wow! I got the grilled cheese BLT sandwich with potatoes. Very good! Fresh veggies and potatoes were really good. We tt the owner who is very nice and she answered questions and was very personable. Honestly if I lived here I'd eat here 1x a week. Super good. About 10 tables. Small. Cute with wall of crockery and the mismatched tables and chairs. Prices are around $15 for most things. Hiding in a small gas plaza. Good food, friendly people, homey type place. Eat here!!

It feels welcoming right away and has that kind of intimate neighborhood vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. I got the pork belly and brie benny and really loved it. The pork belly was rich without being heavy and the brie added that creamy touch without being too much. The whole dish was super flavorful without tipping into greasy. It looked like a lot at first, but it was so well balanced that I ended up finishing the whole plate and even surprised myself a little. Also, shoutout to the service because everyone was so friendly and quick. Definitely one of those spots that is worth showing up early for.

Both dishes were interesting and inventive, though. Unfortunately, the server wasn't great. She felt very cold throughout. She handed me a water with a speck of what seemed to be fibres from a sponge (see pic) - no big deal but rather than act on my request for a new water, she took her time, even making a couple trips to neighbouring tables to clean them. And after asking for a box to pack our extra food, she literally just walked away without saying anything - at least she ended up bringing a box, I guess?

The breading on the fried chicken was light and crisp, while the chicken itself was extremely juicy with the right amount of seasoning. The smoked salmon bennie had amazing salmon, perfect thickness of the english muffin, and fantastic flavor. I can't wait to stop back in the next time I am in the area.

This one popped up on my radar and I thought I'm going to go check it out. Located in a home Depot shopping center, it was pretty easy to find. Upon entering the place, it had a very cheery bright atmosphere. I was able to grab myself a table and take a seat. Robin, my server, was there in a heartbeat to grab me some coffee. The coffee itself is very tasty, they have a fairly comprehensive menu, and had plenty of options. One thing I was actually stunned about was the low prices. A breakfast of two eggs, bacon and home fries was only $6.99. I jumped in and ordered a couple upgrades including a pancake on the side and the peameal bacon. Again, this was one of the most amazing meals I've had. I had never experienced this type of bacon before, and now I am absolutely hooked. Everything overall was cooked perfectly. Seasoned excellently and I can't say enough nice things about this place. Service was on point, food and atmosphere was all there. Bottom line? I will definitely be hitting this place again, and you should too. I was told that it gets pretty busy and sometimes can be a line out the door so get there early, or just be prepared to hang out for a while.
