This campground is mostly dedicated to the dirt biking. The sites are small and close to others. I think mostly because everyone is out riding the trails. I do not ride a dirt bike and neither did the two small children I went with. Luckily if you're not on a bike there is plenty to explore and do with the chitlin's. Our site was next Mill Creek. We explored multiple locations to get into the water. It was freezing! Its also February so I expected it. But we got in and I even at one point fully submerged to wash my hair. At our particular site there weren't any showers but they do have bathrooms. Amongst other things we did was make the kids collect sticks for firewood, found too many pine cones to take home, touched bright green moss. The most important thing was cook under the expanse of stars. It was a great camping weekend. Theres absolutely no cell service. So you are at the mercy of the wild when here. It really forces you to be present. Im all about being present. Im not going to go another year with out camping. This one is now on the favorites list.

That section alone will take you 1.5-2 hours. The last 5-6 miles are unpaved and combo with the narrow roads, with a small vehicle it can be difficult and most importantly nerve racking to navigate. It is not for the faint of heart. One guy who came in on an off road vehicle said to me "I can't believe you made it here" and another person I talked to on my last day said her mother freaked out so bad they were trying to find an alternate way home. There is a lake (obviously) and you can catch small bass. A man we talked to said there is trout earlier in the year when it is colder. There are no running toilets or showers so outhouse only. The yellow jackets are NO JOKE. I woke up the first morning and thought they were swarming my tent but no - they were swarming our table. I would say easily 30 yellow jackets at all times around our table until sunset and if I wanted to cook anything with meat, I'd just give up because the second I opened it, 30 bees would be all over it. Lastly, the spots are first come first serve and there are not many of them

Clean bathrooms and showers. Clean sites. There's a pool. Shore power hookups. Water hookups. Nice shades at some sites (site 20 and higher are the better sites.) There are a couple sites that don't have much shade. Our weekend here was quiet and relaxing. The other guests mostly stayed in their campers/rvs. The 100 degrees temperatures probably had something to do with it. The campground met all our needs. We setup camp here and then explore the surrounding Clearlake community outside the grounds. We went to lake, the local community park where there was a Shakespeare play happening. We enjoyed a farmers market about 20 mins away.

The campers placed directly next…read moreto us were loud, disruptive, and inconsiderate well into the night, making noise until around 3:30 a.m. I was told quiet hours were enforced. We paid for a campsite expecting a reasonable night's sleep and instead spent most of the night awake listening to our neighbors. Because we got virtually no sleep, we made the decision to leave a day early. When I texted the host, I wasn't even asking for a refund--I simply requested a complimentary night for a future stay as a goodwill gesture. The request was immediately denied because of their "no refunds for early departure" policy. The issue isn't that we left early. The issue is that the campground did not provide the quiet, enjoyable experience that guests are paying for. Hiding behind a policy while ignoring the reason a guest is leaving is poor customer service and shows a complete lack of concern for the guest experience. If you're looking for a peaceful campground, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

On an early morning, I took a jog with my 1-year-old while the others were still snoozing and the weather was just perfect at 8:30 AM. Although I found that even for early July, it can get a bit cold in the early morning (1 AM-8 AM) in the tent. So pack extra blankets.
