Was heading up north and had to stop. When we drove up the staff were working on the grounds (looked nice). While the dog took a break I went into the ladies room. The stalls were clean and well stocked. That is appreciated when you need to go. read more

It has been a while since I encountered a rest area with an actual pile of poop in one of the men's room stalls. And that was also in California though 600 miles from here on I-10. Yes, this men's room was in extremely poor condition. Paper and water on the floor, one stall out of toilet paper and human waste in another. Thankfully, I am self-contained in the van so I have the option of skipping over this. Others do not. So why two stars and not one? Because other than the condition of the rest room, the parking area is good. Level, far enough from the highway to skip the worst of the noise and no signs limiting the time I could stay. The rest area is quite small and there isn't another one for close to an hour to the south. I suggest that if you need a break, go just a little further and hit up the Love's Truck Stop. It is sufficient for a rest stop. Bathrooms were clean and had all the necessary supplies.

Dog friendly.....ummmm if you want to take your vet to the hospital because he got a foxtail then yep dog friendly. Too much dry grass and foxtails. Yes it's a drought but this rest stop is super small. Next test stop after this is 51 miles so if you gotta pee well stop by. Cool thing is there is a electric car charger station so that was nice to see. read more

We stopped by around 11 pm in August for a short while. As soon as I opened the car door, I saw at least 2 mosquitos flew in the car. The mosquitos got right to the business. I got bit on the legs, more than 20 spots. I would avoid this rest area in the warm seasons. read more

Maxwell Rest Area is located off I-5 some 70 miles north of Sacramento. We pulled into the northbound rest area. It's a decent place to stop, stretch your legs, and take a break. There is a large grassy area for pets, and restrooms were decently clean and stocked. We were there in the middle of the day; it was busy but not crowded. There is a decent sized parking lot, and access back onto I-5 is easy. read more

Not as clean as other rest stops I've been to. Cleaner ones on WA and OR. But if you gotta go, you gotta go. Sunday after thanksgiving is a bit more crowded. A guy was giving some sob story to people about his tire went out on him. He then approached a non English family about his problem with the child translating for him, when I got out of the restroom, the answer must've been no because he looked pathetic leaning on his truck, like he was out of luck or something. Then my daughter ran to the car with the dogs because she said there were webs flying all over and she didn't want it on her. Then must husband wearing a black shirt apparently didn't realize there were flying webs, and got it all over his black shirt. what an ordeal! For one who is busy out and about, it truly pays to know where public rest stops are located.....especially for the wary explorer, with or without a male companion. This time, we headed up north for a quick getaway and of course, since coffee is a known diuretic, patience was not even a question. The Maxwell Rest Stop was one of the first stops off I-5 North. Clean restrooms, plentiful parking (autos, trailers, big rigs) and a well-lit/secure area for the wary traveler for the quick stop and stretch. read more

Semi-clean, well-stocked and sweet relief in the middle of nowhere―especially since the local gas stations are no help. Wife said the women's side wasn't bad either. There's some shady characters hanging around, but that's to be expected in this area. read more

This is a wonderful rest stop for bird sounds. On one trip, the red-winged blackbirds sounded like electronic pops and whistles. On another trip, there were birds that sounded like cats! Why are they attracted to this rest stop? read more

Need to pee? Come on in. The bathrooms were clean and not dilapidated. Heavily trafficked during the day so no need to worry about a lonely rest stop. Another great road trip pit stop. read more

This is a convenient rest area, easy to get into and out of off the I-5. The location was clean enough and had ample toilet paper. I love that there is usually (always??) a non-profit here offering free coffee for those on long drives. read more

I have never written a review of a rest area but the Maxwell Rest area Northbound on I-5 was a pleasant surprise. CLEAN and beautiful grass for the dog to run. Will keep this on my road trip itinerary. read more

I have to tell you that I love to stop at rest areas. Then I can take a walk stretch seal legs a little bit, use the restroom, and Mosey on along my way. This particular rest area at least on going north has really nice circular walkways on either side of the restrooms. I noticed that they take care of their walkways, in that there are no tripping hazards. They have brought in the concrete grinders to make sure that any place where the concrete had become unlevel that it was smooth out. I enjoyed the circular walkways as we're walking between what I believe a rice Patties on either side of the freeway and the rest area and with a slight breeze it was really Pleasant. Now when you walked around the restroom and we're in the shade of the restroom as well as the breeze it was downright cool, almost chilly. The restrooms or reasonably clean, and meet my needs. The parking is easy in and out, and there were plenty of drive-thru spaces for the people with big RVs or trailers, or the semis. Well I guess that about does it everything you could want in a rest stop is waiting for you here. read more

Much needed rest area! We were on our trip up north from LA and this was one of our few stops along the way. After very little sleep and a lot of cups of coffee, we needed to stop for a stretch and use the restrooms. It's nice out here. There are plenty of parking for cars, RV, large trucks and commercial trucks. This rest area is surrounded by fields and is basically in the middle of nowhere except the freeway and traveling nomads. There are trees next to the restrooms and it's nice to hear birds chirping after being in the car all day. The restrooms here are okay, clean enough just to do your thing and leave. Working water available. Nice to just get out of the car and stretch for a bit. read more

Wow! We parked the RV here last night and woke up this morning to birds of all kinds singing. What a great first day of Spring! The Quest worker Daryl was very polite and helpful, told me the varieties of birds they have and the types of trees they use. Disgusting. Every stall in the women's restroom was disgustingly dirty. The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. And to top it off the women's restroom is infested with roaches. You're better off doing your business in the bush outside. It's probably cleaner. read more

I was minding my own business trying to get a little shut eye on my way to Oregon Eclipse Gathering when I was violently attacked by a sworn of terribly aggressive, filthy, blood sucking mosquitoes. I opened my car door for two minutes to smoke a camel crush silver when my legs starting itching. At first I thought I had been bitten by a couple flees but when I heard my friend scream in the drivers seat that he also was being attacked vigorously we turned on our flashlight function on our IPhone 7's and to my dismay the cab of the vehicle was completely engulfed with these bloodsucking, filthy, disease carrying insects. We immediately started flashing our lights at them and began using our fists and the the backs of our hands to desecrate as many of these disease carrying devils as possible. This had little effect and the swarm continued to attack us. Our only options was to open all the windows and defend ourselves by driving around the downtrodden rest stop until every last one of them was dispelled from the vehicle. This was a terrifying experience and I can only pray this never happens to anyone else. Please beware. read more
