Just came back from a couple day trip here. Overall it's a nice place. Unfortunately it's just not maintained. I'm sure there's not a lot of money and business going on right now. All it really needs is someone to go through and power wash it it doesn't even make a difference if certain things need painted and so forth but the power washing every few days is a no-brainer when everything is dirty or cobwebs on it. The bathrooms need to have seat covers and locking doors. It's a pretty easy fix to lock or fix a lock on a door. Other than that the management was nice even though years after covid the lady is paranoid and if you walk into the office makes you wear a mask which is really bizarre. You can't help the water is awfully green has nothing to do with the campground . Again just power wash everything would be good I will probably come back either way if I'm in the area although that would be my suggestions read more

We had to reschedule our trip a couple times because of life issues and the staff was happy to help us. When we finally made it, we were greeted warmly and were given a choice of a couple sites as three were available. Our site backed up to the water which was really nice. The atmosphere is very mellow at this campground, which is perfect for us. I love the vintage vibe of the campground as I have a vintage trailer. The staff checked in on us to see that everything was well through our time there and were glad to direct us to local sites that we were interested in seeing. Also, about two minutes away there is a Walmart so it is super easy to get anything you need or have forgotten. Made new friends in the campground and had dinner together which was really nice as well. Glad we finally made it and we will be back. read more

Super cute, small, quiet campground on the lake. Deer, birds and river otters are fun to watch. Staff is super friendly. Was suggested to go to Six Sigma Winery. Beautiful winery with hiking trails and animals, got to see all the baby lambs. Good wine, also a Harvest Host Winery. All size lots at the campground, we have a 32 ft backed in with no issues. Cool little camp site. Like others have said the campsites are pretty small and you're right on top of each other. Me and two other fishing buddies stayed here for one night and it worked for us. Lisa, the owner/on site manager was super helpful and friendly from booking all the way to checking in. If you're looking for a rustic and charming spot and don't mind roughing it a bit then this will work. Electricity right at your spot, BBQ, and picnic bench. FYI we stayed at Site 13 and I recommend it. A little bit of extra room and it's right next to the boat launch. Place is pretty safe. I'm just ending a three day stay here. It's super cute in a vintage way. It reminds me of camping in my youth. Nice little park with corn hole and ping pong, there is a playground with swings too. The pool is really shallow and would be great for kids. The noise from the freeway however takes away from the camping mood. The lake is definitely NOT clear! It's dirty. No one wanted to swim there. Campground had way too many pokey things everywhere. Reset rooms were clean thank you! Other than that I would not return here again. There's a guard that comes around and tells you if you're too loud. read more

Lisa came out of the office to greet us. She asked me to wait under the canopy while she got the paperwork. She gave me the rules and warned me about not letting any people or animals swim in the water. The green algae can be toxic. There is so much algae the creek is green. Lisa also told me no unregistered guests in site. We where there to visit family and had planned to bbq for them...not now. There is only one tiny area of grass and dogs are not allowed on it. The RV sites along the river are back-up sites which have full hook-ups. The Sites are small, clean, have bbq, fire ring, and picnic table. There is two restrooms with showers and at least one port-a-potty. There is several permanent RV and trailer residents. The park was quiet at night, only annoying thing was the nightly overwhelming smell of Marijuana. The nights are cool and you can hear the frogs. The weirdest thing happened to us here... we got back to camp around 10pm and found a chicken perching on our chair. We tried shooing it but it won't leave. Not leave even the presence of our two big dogs could get that chicken to leave. Lisa came over and with paper towels put it in a box to takeaway...Lisa said, this was a first for her lol. read more

Went there with my two kids (9 and 11) with our pop-up camper and aluminum canoe. We checked in early and right away were greeted by one of the employees (Chris) even though the office was closed. He set us up, and then offered to try and find us an open river front spot. No luck. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly. The other campers consisted of families, couples and retirees. No loud, partying hooligans and troublemakers. After check out time, Lisa (General Manager) let me leave the camper in our spot while we drove up to the lake for a couple hours. Lovely campground!! Lisa runs the place and is amazing. Very friendly and very helpful. Love the sites right along Cache Creek. Also very close to fast food and supplies. Has lots of vintage trailers and great fishing. We don't fish but love the view across the creek of the Anderson Marsh State Historic Park where we have seen lots of different birds. I had a great time camping here. It's nice to be right on the water, it was fun watching the fish jump. The toilets were ok, clean but old. The showers were pretty gross. We rented a kayak and took and went out right in-front of the campground which was convenient and was a fun experience. Clear lake is not very dog friendly, there is only a good swimming beach at the state park which dogs are not allowed on. read more

I was so disappointed in this place. I found this spot on Reserve America and by the pics it looked nice BUT it was awful. The spaces are too small u are literally inches away from other campers. In the age of Covid I was scared for me and my family who I brought with me. I wanted a cool family camping experience with at least some privacy. Instead we were next to rowdy frat guys hearing every dirty drunk conversation. The customer service is bad! A very rude lady runs the site. The white lady manager told us one car per campsite no exception. So we had to park our other car up the road. But the Frat guys had both their cars at their camp space WTF!?!? Even after I offered her to pay any fee! Then I asked the frat guys if they were asked to move their giant SUVs and they were like nope she didn't tell us nothing. I was like wow. Clearlake campgrounds the only way I can describe the experience here is if one day you wake up and say I wonder how it feels to live in a homeless encampment next to a polluted lake sleeping inches always from drunks and on top of that in 100 degree heat with no shade then ur place is here. Awful awful awful awful. Camping is supposed to be fun but here I was counting the minutes to go home.DONT COME HERE!!!! read more

I highly recommend Shady Acres Campgrounds @ Clear Lake! Beautiful and peaceful scenery. There are many outdoor activities to do like Ping Pong and Billboard table. When it gets too hot then there's a pool to wade in. Try the kayak or canoeing down the river into the lake. Amazing wildlife that feels like you're in The Jungle book. But you're safe of course. I'm impressed by the cleanliness of the campgrounds and bathrooms with showers. Thank you Eddie McNeill & Lisa Wilson for a memorable time! If you haven't been there then it's a must visit place. We had reservations for a three day weekend at his site. The lady at the front office is very nice and welcoming. As for the site itself, just picture a trailer park where people live and the campsite in the same location. The campsites if you can call them that, or just big enough for your car a tent and maybe three people. I paid $400 for three campsites for a three day weekend. After seeing the site the trailer park and listening to the freeway noise we immediately left the site. If I can you give this place zero stars I would. This is not a family friendly campsite and I would not recommend this to even my worst enemy's. read more

Overall this campsite was just okay. Very small campsite, sites are very very close together, and loud noises coming from highway all day/night. Booked for three days with a group of friends and we ended up leaving early not because of any of the reason posted above but because of the millions of rice flies that swarm the area. We were absolutely shocked that no where on their website or any other review stated that these bugs plague this area. We could not have light at night, we could not have a fire, we could not open our tents, we couldn't cook, we couldn't even open our mouths to breath because these bugs infested the area so badly. We slept for one night and left the very next morning with no refund provided for the two days we weren't there. We were told it's just their policy. I wanted to make this post to warn people that these things might be around to destroy your camping experience like it did ours. read more

I rented a kayak for 2 hours and explored Cache Creek and Lower Clear Lake. Shady Acres is a family run operation with residential mobile homes on one side and camping on the other. Everything is creek front which is actually a river. Lisa is great! read more

Tiny, tiny sites. Right near the highway, as in, adjacent to the highway.. Many sights face a chain link fence with sewer and other utilities. The bathhouse is up a steep, rocky trail, was always dirty, and has one tiny sink. The showers have wood pallets on the floor. One shower had a knob that wasn't attached, one toilet was blocked the entire time. No room to turn around in bathroom. General store opened whenever owners feel like it. The whole place has a Sanford and Son vibe. The pool is 2 feet deep to 4 feet deep and small. The sites are just dusty, dirty spots. Everything you own will be covered in dirt.. Absolutely not handicapped accessible, at all. I walk with a cane, and it was super difficult. Clear lake was having a fish die off with toxic algae, which seems to happen frequently in the summer, and it was sad to see all the dead fish floating by. Obviously not the campsites fault. Very quiet, except for the highway noise, but I can't recommend it. read more

DONT TAKE YOUR DOG INTO THE LAKE!!!!! It's an ok spot. The website definitely made it look more luxurious than what it really is. About 20 of us went for a family camping trip and we reserved a spot in front of the lake which was really nice. We took our dogs (5 in total) and a big part of our trip was to take our dogs swimming. Unfortunately we heard from locals that it is not safe to let your dog swim in the lake, such a huge bummer for the dogs! We were told that there have been cases where dogs have gotten sick or even died from all the algae in the lake. Couldn't imagine going camping with your dog, having a great time, then them passing away :'( because of the water. It was nice though that we were still being loud even past quiet hours. And the front desk people were really nice! There is a Walmart 5 minutes away and it was really useful for last minute purchases (more ice, floating tubes for the river, etc). read more

Last minute check in and Lisa was extremely accommodating. Such a beautiful person! When checking in, my boyfriend mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. We start setting up camp and she comes over 5 minutes later with a bottle of wine congratulating us. It brought tears to my eyes! One small act of kindness made our weekend! The camp ground is interesting with all dirt camp spots. Maybe this is normal for Northern California? I wasn't too impressed upon arrival but I have to say the hospitality was amazing. We rode our motorcycles so we didn't have a lot of amenities. The host & hostess provided us with firewood, a grill, ice & a cooler. I would stay here again in a minute. A family owned establishment. They do have electrical outlets, cornhole, ping pong table, tetherball and a the creek for fishing. Overall the kids had fun, so I'm not complaining. read more

Great starter campground for my kids first camping trip. Bathrooms clean and nearby, pool for cooling off, ice cream at general store, fishing directly from camp, beautiful creek with birds and fish. For those that downgraded this place because of bugs - camping is not for you. For the reviewer that complained about the dog not being able to swim - this is for reviews of the campground, not environmental factors beyond the owner's control. Boo hoo to you. We stayed in the middle of the week and there were only a few other reservations but it felt like the place was ours. Appreciate the hospitality from Lisa. Our family had a wonderful time and the kids couldn't stop talking about it. We will certainly be returning. read more

Wonderful place to camp at Clearlake. We did a last minute family camping trip over the mid-July weekend that involved 5 tents, 4 vehicles, 6 adults, and 7 children, and of course we wanted to be together. Owner, Lisa, was so nice and accommodating! She allowed us to squeeze onto 2 sites in the overflow area, that were right by the water, but didn't have much shade. The next day, when some campers didn't show up for their reservations, she allowed us to move to the shady sites, still by the water. The only downside (& the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) was that the water had high levels of algae (but it didn't smell bad like some other places!), low levels of oxygen, and the fishing wasn't so good at this time, (though we know fishing is very good April - June), and you couldn't swim in it. However, the campground has a swimming pool so we were all able to swim to our hearts' content. The kids loved it! There were nice bathrooms, showers, relaxing patio with badminton & pool tables, a kiddie playground, water and electricity at the sites and a camp store. When we come back to Clearlake to camp out we will definitely come to Shaws Shady Acres Campground! read more

We had a girls weekend at the campground. We were in four sites on the waterfront. The sites were deep enough to keep the trailers forward and have room to enjoy the creek and socialize in the area behind. I felt there was plenty of room in the campsites were a good size. The grounds were spotless and very relaxing. The owner was very accommodating and a joy to meet. Great for boaters and kayaking. Great wild life with the ducks and otters in the creak. We are self contained so I didnt use any of the restrooms or showers. I will definitely go back. read more

I am dismayed at the negative nellies who totally don't get what this campground is about. This campground has been in the same family since the 1950's. The original owners kids have taken over and have worked diligently to improve the campground. I have seen the improvements and there are many. This is like an old time campground, from my childhood. Family friendly, pet friendly, friendly owners and staff. Prices are reasonable and cancellation policy is fair. Easy to deal with. Several women's camping groups make an annual trek here to hold campouts and they love the place. Priced reasonably, sites by the water. Yep, there may be rice mosquitos in the fall, but that's common to the area. Do you want pesticides sprayed all around? I think not. There is the Anderson Marsh Preserve nearby and incredible history to this area. Me thinks the spoiled brats that don't get it need to head to the KOA's, and other local campgrounds to the Bay Area that are totally crowded, noisy and cost an arm and a leg to stay at. Nature is dusty, dirty, creeks get algae in the summer...oh my. No traffic getting there, beautiful drives with no one tailgating you while you tow. Maybe I should keep this gem a secret, but I want Lisa and her family to get a fair shake. The glass is half full, not empty folks. Give em a chance. read more

I love this place! It's so homey and friendly and quaint. It's a mom and pop campground in the best way. They love vintage trailers here and the staff and owner (Lisa )went the extra mile and made us feel so welcome. It's a small campground, with a big group camp area and a set of waterfront rv/trailer spots with full hookups (there might be other camping spots, I'm not sure) The waterfront sites each (or most?) have their own dock you can fish off, swim off, or hook your boat/canoe up to. The water was warm and lovely to swim in and I for one enjoyed the beautiful green water. The manager explained the reason for the color (it escapes me now) and said it was fine to swim in and relatively warm due to it's depth. I loved it! The grounds have some cute vintage trailers that live there and I think the owner is planning on refurbishing some to rent out to guests. The office/store as beer, wine, snacks, ice and some fishing stuff. They also have a pool, pool table and ping pong table. Bring your own fire-pit with spark-catcher or talk to the owner about using one of hers. There is a beautiful shady lawn area, with corn hole and a tables and umbrellas....I could have propped myself up in one their adirondack chairs and vegged out for hours....There is a walmart and a grocery store almost within walking distance, but not so close or visible as to ruin the ambiance.....but it sure was convenient for our impromptu brunch we cooked up the next morning. The bathrooms were nice and provided free hot showers and a spot to plug in your hot-rollers (kidding!), but the outlet was nice for charging my phone since I did not bring the right kind of plug to use the electricity at our site.(I'm now reading that management will loan you an adapter) Nice flushing toilets with stalls, no pit toilets here! The place was quiet and I felt safe enough that I think I could camp there solo sometime in the future. read more

NOT A CAMPSITE, but a trailer park that will allow you to trailer/tent camp. After arriving and noticing this would not work because of the atmosphere of permeant residents that live in small 15' trailers. The owner, Lisa, is very nice but nor forthcoming on what the campsite actually is. Lisa did offer to credit back half of the four sites that were reserved, but couldn't stay there so found somewhere else and took the hit. I do feel that the website is falsely advertising the campground and shouldn't be allowed to advertise as a campground or RV park. read more

This place used to be nice about 10 years ago. Mainly before the new owner Lisa came. You cant turn an RV park into a campground and expect people to not notice. Kicking long term residents out by raising their rents, completely re modeling the site to something fake and unnappreciated, no wonder theres not a lot of business anymore. Do yourselves a favor and camp somewhere else, its not like you can swim in the lake anyways. read more
