I spent my childhood at Pine Grove when Roberta and Bob ("Bingo Bob") owned the place and loved every minute of it. I was a local kid who worked my summer jobs cleaning cabins, then at the pool snack bar and then, finally, at the coveted lifeguard position at the two pools. All the "city kids" would come every summer and I had my "summer friends" when I wasn't in school. It was magical. I now live in San Diego and my children can't understand that magic so I try to compare it to movie, "Dirty Dancing." They are jealous. I don't blame them; Pine Grove in the 1980s was something out of a movie. Anyone who was there has endless stories about the place. I read someone on here say the new owners keep the local "riff raff" out... I don't know what that means but back when I was a local kid working there, the city kids and local kids loved meeting every summer. I hope that kind of kindness isn't lost on this generation. read more

I really didn't know what to make of Pine Grove Resort when I first encountered it, looking for venues to host a summer-camp-themed camping trip for my fiancee and a couple dozen of our friends. The reviews were sparse and mixed but the space looked beautiful online. I reached out directly by email to Joe, describing the type of event I wanted, and he was very responsive and helpful and generous. First of all, if you read nothing else, I have to rave about the infrastructure. Joe and the folks over there are really bright, mindful, and hardworking - and you can see from what they're building. The bathroom/shower complex near the campground is new and well built. A stone's throw away, the pool area is beautiful and clean, with a majestic lawn to run around on and great facilities. We rented the Mooncat Tiny House and the Glamping Tent and they are both cute, well proportioned, and well designed. The owners have beautiful things and great taste - we found the kitchen stocked with Japanese knives and Staub & Le Creuset cookware. They've cleverly set up mesh WiFi around the whole area that, while not reliable enough for Zoom calls, is impressive. I got a chuckle when a friend, sitting on a stump, asked me for the WiFi password. Even the structures that aren't new are taken care of; things are lived in and not luxury, but nothing is dilapidated. When I first got there, it took some time to get my bearings. The property is rather large (we never really did explore the east half of it) and there are a lot of structures, some inhabited and some available to rent. Folks of all stripes seem to live there at all times of year. I think the thing that first threw me off is you're never TRULY out of eyesight or earshot from someone, despite the woodsy environ. There's often the odd person or small group sitting on a porch, working on a project, hanging by the pool, or walking a dog - it's more like an unstructured neighborhood in the woods than a secluded campground. I soon met Joe and found him to be a helpful and well-meaning fellow. In time, folks in my group struck up conversations with the other folks around. Noah and one of the kids came to clean out the glamping tent for us and were very welcoming as well. Everyone was friendly and I came to realize this was a community of folks who had come here - perhaps some temporarily - to get away from the outside world and find some time and space for themselves. The attitude as I see it was rather healthy and positive. People there seem to be generous of mind and spirit. I was nervous that our group - 30-somethings drinking and floating in the pool, yelling and cursing at one another as we played games like spikeball and cornhole - would be an unwelcome nuisance, but the residents were really kind, accepting, and even fascinated by our antics. I would recommend Pine Grove highly to anyone, but mostly I think I've found a gem that I hope is around for years to come. I think when we all have young kids and want a place to spend a quiet weekend where they can explore, this will be our oasis. Been over a decade since my last review! I hadn't visited in several years, but now my child is "perfect Pine Grove age" (he's six) and he was able to spend two fun weekends at the pool this summer. The pool is still great--I've driven by some other Cobb-area pools before, but this one takes the cake. There's plenty of shade, plenty of seating, great pool with a slide and diving board, two baby pools, and the creek-fed "cold pool." The snack bar is top notch (the fries are great!!!). Price for summer 2025 was $13 for adults and $7 for kids (with each person needing a $5 membership fee for the summer as well, charged only on the first visit). Cash and cards are accepted, but cards can be wonky because of poor internet service. Three stars only because I compare it to the Pine Grove of my childhood, which back in the day also included the Pine Grove store and bingo every night of the week. However, I did run into some people camping in the campground for the first time, and they said they were really impressed by the area. read more

This is such a beautiful place. The new owner Joe has really been turning the resort around. He has made many updates and added the coolest tree house that you can rent with the most amazing view! There's also cabins to rent and camping is also available. There's two giant pools and a kids pool. There's even a place to buy food if you don't want to pack a picnic. I love to take my dogs to the year round creek that's on the property. Great place to hang out during the hot summer days. Or take in the view as it snows in the winter. The Price for entrance was fair at $10 per adult and $5 for children 12 and under. They had a nice snack shack although prices were a little high for drinks But the food was good. This camp ground is very pretty it's very secluded the spring pool is very pretty but that dog that wakes you up barking every morning at 6am from the main house on the property and it is so disrespectful how can you have a dog that doesn't listen on a camp ground with people trying to go on vacation and enjoy themselves!! read more

We used to have family gatherings here before they raised the prices. My step-mom and her family has been going here ever since she was a little kid. Kristine C, you may know her. I have so many good memories of this place. They have a Creek pool and a regular pool. The creek pool they would fill it with creek water and it was ALWAYS freezing! The regular pool was fun, it had a diving board, and there used to be a old man that would teach anyone how to dive, or do flips off the diving board. He was the one who taught me how to do a back dive. Also if you picked up trash the people that worked there would give you wooden nickels that if you saved so many you got a free ice cream. The cabins were awesome! They had beds in them, and you would bring your own sheets/blankets/sleeping bags, but my step-mom said that when they were kids they would always sleep on the balcony (and every cabin has a bed on the balcony). In the hall they had bingo, and it was just soo much fun! But one year they switched owners, and it wasn't the same anymore. They made it more of a day resort instead of old fashion camping cabins. I haven't been back for like 6 or 7 years, but I sure do miss it. read more

Spent a week here in mid July 2016. When I used to drive by this place a few years back it seemed dark, dirty and had a bad energy about it. That is no longer the case. The new owners (4th season I believe) have done a great job cleaning up and renovating the property. It is a work in progress as some of the cabins are still in need of repair to make them habitable again but they also have some new cabins, including one ADA compliant unit near the pool and a tent cabin for those who want to feel a little more outdoorsy. I stayed in a creek side cabin and fell asleep each night to the sound of the running water. They also have campsites for tents, and some RV and Trailer hook-ups. They have two swimming pools. One is large with a slide and sizable shallow end for the young ones. The other is the "cold pool" which is spring fed. The waters are healing according to many. Either way a soak does a body good! The grill serves a wide variety of foods and beverages. If they have it when you visit get the fried zucchini. When I was there the zucc's had been picked in the garden that morning and it was so good! The staff is very friendly and courteous. Family friendly, dogs included. Also great for couples or singles looking to get away for some quality downtime. They don't mind you having a good time but this is not a wild spring break party location. I plan to make Pine Grove a regular stop when I'm in Lake County! read more

My sentiments reflect all of the other previous reviewers. This place was the setting of many great childhood summer memories. Waking up late, hitting the pool, scouring the creek for crawdads, eating greasy junk food by the pool, and bingo at night. Also, riding bikes to the local town for the convenience store or to rent a movie. We also experienced underage drinking for the first time really. It's too bad that it's so expensive to stay in the cabins. Oh yeah, they had video games in the bingo hall and super fun game night once a week where you played Chinese bat ball. Super fun. The pool was nice, lots of space to bike, a hiking trail , a volleyball court. It's a perfect place for families with young kids. This Creekside camping and cabins resort with sparkling huge swimming pools has new owners (3 years) who have completely cleaned it up and renewed the pools and some of the cabins. All of the campsites are clean and shady. This is a wonderful place and is not permanently closed like Google Maps says. That needs correcting. All old google reviews and pictures on google are out of date and misleading and should be removed. Wonderful food stand at the pools. Day use, or weekly and seasonal passes are available for very reasonable rates. All restroom buildings, commercial washers and driers and septic systems are brand new. Give the NEW Pine Grove Resort a try! You'll be amazed at the transformation and you will love your stay. I liked the resort, but found it hard to book my dates, you have to call a number or email Joe (owner) but I had to email a few times to get a response. We made it to resort, but found it somewhat confusing where we go to check in? I don't think there is a office? So we went asked the attendant at the pool snack area, he told us to find any open spots that were open? After driving and trying to figure out exactly were the designated area was we found a great spot, a future map would be advisable for guests, there some cabins to rent also and many are being renovated, and again a map would be nice, since they are spread all over the property, the grounds are very neat and bathrooms were clean and nice and hot showers! The pool area is very nice, great food at the pool also! The kids loved the cheese fries. We were disappointed that the spring fed pool was refilling and we did not get to use that pool. But the water temp was cold, don't think they have it heated. We were camping during the week after school started, so the resort was so nice and quiet, peaceful, even though you can hear cars near the road. They have a cool pizza oven and a designated bonfire pit for guests too. We checked in and out in three days and you pay in advance, so I was a little surprised when I was asked if we had left without paying? Confusion I suppose with new owners billing system. There is a store near by and gas station also, very convenient if you have forgotten things. We really enjoyed our stay, just a few wrinkles. read more

What a Great Spot! Came back to Pine Grove last year after The former owner ran it into the ground. The cabins are being redone and the pools and grill were fabulous! Bingo Bob was back last summer for a Saturday nite bingo game and there was no riff-raff from the local yocals as the new owners have drawn a line in the sand keeping it pleasant for visitors and families. Prices have gone up, but well worth the value for the experience of the summers past! Well done by new ownership, can't wait to come back. read more

My wife's family has been going there for generations(Hollister) and what I do know is that Joe and Noah have worked there asses off trying to rebuild years of neglect.I am truly saddened by the fire in Cobb and I hope the place made it if it did I expect all hands on deck next year to show some love.We all know they are new owners but the general strong arm tactics the locals have used is despicable I hope it's still there to enjoy read more

July 23, 2012....just got home from a long weekend....new owner!!! Too many repairs and improvements to list, but Joe is well on his way to bringing back the old Pine Grove of my childhood in the 60's. I also quit coming 6 or 7 years ago due to the new ownership. I heard it changed hands again in July 2012 so just had to go have a look. Booked another cabin for a full week in August and cannot wait to see what else he has done. Pools are in good shape. It will take the full winter and hard work, but he says cabins will be great next year. The two I had last weekend were fine, and he has lowered the rate to what it was 10 or 12 year ago. Very reasonable. Bingo in the evenings, and a campfire after. Still a mess in the grove due to all of the trailers that were abandoned due to rent increase. Joe says he is working on having them all hauled away in the fall. He has been clearing built up brush, and the creek is running and so clear and cleaned up already. We had several creek walks. Pine Grove is on it's way back, and so am I! read more

Pine Grove Cobb Report: "Are these extravagant [campsites]? We think not". As we strolled through mosquito-infested grounds past an empty cement hole and a shallow green pond, we saw hose-attached sprinkler on full in pool patio and compact cars all apart in the camp road with hood up and greasy parts hanging out. Through the dilapidated, fallen, front gate, we were stopped by a locked fence straight ahead turned left and parked in a small clearing with a log that looked like a single parking space. Weeds were overgrown throughout so it was difficult to tell where to drive and where to park. So at 1st we got out and walked to the nearby pool area, but encountered what looked like personal year round cabins in run down state a leanto tent with e some strange jar hanging from it and various personal items that looked like we were in a non-public area. So we walked back and got in the car chased by mosquitoes. I turned and looked again and realized that that was actually the way IN to the park, so we drove back through. Clearance for an RV or trailer to this point was questionable. The further we drove the worse it got. Completely hickified with dilapidated sheds, cars, equipment and homes, tarps hanging, junk out front and finally we found 2 trailers & an RV and a couple overgrown spaces adjacent with electrical boxes sticking up that look like they might once have been campsites. Then, instead of a loop around to get back out, the road simply narrowed to walking path width and I had to jockey the Toyota around and go back out the way I came. The Creek, though once pretty now had big 3" pipes metal and ABS sticking out into it 10' or more, dumping reclaim water from an unknown source in the campground into the Creek. Even though in off season being a month or so away from opening, this campground looks distressed, financially broke and very poorly maintained., Clearly, there are year round residents who do not take pride in their landscaping or the condition of their homes... it appears to be that this owner is not investing much in upkeep of the campground. Furthermore although the trees are nice and very tall and mature it looks like a fire trap to me and I would be afraid to have open fires especially with only one way out. We saw no humans at any time during our "walkthrough", only one, large barking dog. As we began to leave and looked over the dilapidated shacks on the way out we began to hear banjos and chain saws... I may have exceeded the 5 mile an hour speed limit escaping this place. read more

I vacationed in Pine Grove since I was a little girl (70's) and I started taking my children for the last few years. The people are friendly and it is always a good time whether your young or old. I loved it so much I moved to Cobb. I now volunteer in the grove helping keep it up and welcoming new comers. Pine Grove has new owners and they are making a go at fixing this place up after the terrible reign of the past owner. I am giving it only 4 stars because it is a work in progress. It does not reflect poor quality or a bad atmosphere at the resort. Pool was clean and the snack bar has great, healthy treats. The prices aren't cheap, but it is made fresh from good ingredients and comes with a smile. Owners even work the snack bar. I do think they should consider serving beer and wine, but I understand why they are avoiding that since this place got a little rowdy in recent years with beer pong and stuff right where families were trying to relax. Cabin prices are a bit high, though not unreasonable for the improvements they have put in. Trust me when I say the previous showers were beyond foul! I do think they should keep a variety of cabins at different price levels. Some of us can't get too swanky on our vacations. My parents stayed in the luxury cabin and it was very cute and nice. The shower is outside, clawfoot tub inside. Kinda fun if you are ok showering with a little less privacy than at home. I wish I had been able to go up again this season. The new owners are putting in a genuine effort to provide a fun, safe place for familes. Pine Grove will never be the way it was and that is sad in some ways. At least it is getting new life and the previous owners have high-tailed it out of there. The dark ages have ended! Best of luck to the new owners. read more

Pine Grove is an establishment that is continuously losing its charm as the years go by. A large, seasonal (Memorial Day to Labor Day) establishment with two pools (one of them creek-fed), many cabins-for-rent, and plenty of family activities, this "resort" has been my summer retreat since I was born. However, new ownership over the last few years along with constantly changing management has put Pine Grove in quite a funk. The pools were closed a few too many times throughout the summer for health reasons (which were resolved), the snack bar has upped its prices, and the family nights (consisting of bingo, square dancing, talent shows, and movie nights) have been dying a slow death. Now it's hard to discuss the more pleasing aspects of the place after the above, but there must be some reason my family and I return there every year. The weather is always nice there, and the different trees (and lack of) provide for various degrees of sun exposure. The staff is always friendly; yes, even the inexperienced, gothic teenagers working the snack bar. I have never rented a cabin, so I can't shed much light there. However, the fee for cabin does not cover the pool's entrance fee (which I think is $7/person/day now). They also have a day spa, which at some point was called "Spine Grove." I think that's clever; but, not being a spa person, I have never done further research. LIKE: People, Atmosphere, Weather, the Creek-fed pool (aka the "Cold Pool"), the snack bar, bingo (if they still have it). DON'T LIKE: The beer pong games going on in the pool area, often inviting underage drinking, all while in the vicinity of the childrens' pools. 3.75 Star, just because Pine Grove has always been my summer weekends and I love the people there. read more

Expensive. Can't bring your own food or drinks (not even water!) no alcohol allowed. Expensive food, but good (hence the one star.)

i run pine grove again and as of june of 2011 the grove is clean again i am a return manager and have a damn good crew that works hard to make the costumer's happy. we are in the process of trying to get it out of the current owner's hands. please join us labor day weekend concert, bbq, and we have the diving board back. pine grove needs the grovers help now more than ever. read more
