We tried Gravy for the first time yesterday. It is a nice family owned business and they are eager to please. When we sat down, our waitress immediately brought us a couple pieces of zucchini bread which was delicious. The restaurant was super clean!! The owner made a point to talk to us. My husband had the Mahalo Burger which he thought was very good. The Mac and cheese was soooo good and the portions were very generous. I had the chicken breast sandwich which was a bit small for the size of the bun and a little dry. I added a little teriyaki sauce that came with my husbands burger which made it better. The tater tots were done to perfection. Another thing that we really liked is that the owner told us if we want to create something different with the foods they have, we can always make a request and they will do their best to make what we want to order. I would say on the chicken sandwich that I might order it Mahalo style with some pineapple and teriyaki sauce next time. The next time we eat here, we're going to try the breakfast. 4.5 stars actually. This is a great breakfast place. The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. It can get a little busy on Saturdays and sometimes during the week. The reason for the 4.5 stars is when it's really busy the service diminishes slightly but not enough to complain about there or online. Prices are reasonable and portions are plentiful. Great breakfast place! Loved the atmosphere, service and food. I saw another review saying the same and complaining about the prices... the prices were similar to other breakfast places and they even have smaller plates if you don't eat a lot--a "senior plate" which they said anyone can order for about $10 and it was a full breakfast, and some smaller portions on the lower right side of the menu--I got eggs and turkey sausage for $8 and it filled me up! They also have lots of great coffee drinks--we both got a latte--I always love it when breakfast places have good coffee (not just diner coffee). My order was ok and the amount of gravy you get was offensive. It was served in a plastic condiment cup. Maybe two good tablespoons worth. Waitress was named Michelle and she came to check on my order when I was about 2/3 finished. She asked if I was enjoying my meal notced my coffee was empty and left. My coffee was empty before I got my meal. Also was curious why I was never offered any samples as the other tables around me were. Some other gal came around with coffee and asked if I needed a warm up I smarted off and said threre was nothing to warm up. Waitress came around and gave me my ticket and said see you next time. I said no you wont. Then she wanted to know if something was wrong. So i told her about the gravy. She said I should have asked for more. How can i do that if you dont come around until im almost finished. She handed me the machine and I was trying to add a custom tip and the machine wouldnt let me. She grabbed the machine cleared out the tip and said "just forget it" and handed me my receipt. I wasnt aware it was the customers job to follow up with the waitstaff to get service that you are paying for. I thought that was their job to follow up with customers. If you want to eat at a place called Gravy that brags about how good it is and then provides you with very little of it and tops it off with crap service and overcharge you for it...then this is your go to spot. read more

Such great food and great atmosphere in a much needed location. Great place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch! The candied bacon stix are a must order while waiting for your entrees! Such a friendly and helpful staff makes it an all around fantastic place to eat and enjoy the company! I have to also brag on their bakery goods; I've had a bit of it and the zucchini bread is wonderful! Servers were quick to seat us even though the place was hopping. I got the country fried steak and eggs while my partner got the chicken tenders. I DO NOT recommend the country fried steak. It just wasn't that good. Tasted like a Dairy Queen item. The tater tots were good and cooked to perfection as were the made to order over medium eggs. The biscuit tasted like bacon grease and wasn't that good although it was big and fluffy looking. Chicken tenders had good flavor and the garlic bread was spot on. Soft drinks are $4 so a bit pricey. Neither of us liked the gravy. Tasted like it was maybe a sausage gravy and that didn't really go with what we ordered. Service was perfect. This restaurant has the best food in Ellis county! A MUST! We had a Ruben, a salmon Caesar salad, and took home lemon bread. I am personally not a "salmon" person however I tried it and it's the best salmon I've ever tasted. The Ruben was huge and the flavor was fanominal. The tots were crisp and hit the spot. Lemon bread is to die for. Gravy has the best quality of food I've had in a long time in Ellis county. I found this with a simple search for nearby breakfast in Lancaster,TX and this little gem popped up. It was incredible. It is small so if you do not one it right there will be a significant wait but it is worth it. Family owned and operated and you can tell that live in how the staff all work with one another. I was never a biscuit and gravy girl until now. Both are outstanding. I also had eggs, cooked to perfection (my preference is over medium) and I had their wakes which are thin, crunch in outside sift in the inside. Pure deliciousness. We will surely go again. They also serve a bit of their zucchini bread to lure you to buy a loaf and it was delicious. I took home a loaf of lemon poke bread. Moist, delicious and loaded with lemon flavor. Clearly I highly recommend this breakfast/lunch establishment. I wish I had taken photos to share but sadly we dive right into the meal. If you wanna be stuffed, this is the way to go if you do not like white gravy, I promise this place will change your mind because I put that stuff on everything I have when I go my family and I have been at least four separate occasions, and the food is not disappoint. They are large portions, so if you're hungry hungry, this is definitely the stop even if there's a weight, the weight moves quickly so you're not waiting forever. For starters, I strongly suggest those cheese curds cause why not we also have had the candy bacon, which is really really sticky. It was OK not my favorite but not enough to lose a star over, I like to get anything on the menu that has that gravy and it's gonna be great I wish I had pictures of it because my statements alone are not enough to explain how good this food is and then their bakery items that you can pick up are phenomenal as well. We ate breakfast there yesterday morning and had the Gravy Special and it was amazing. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and the staff and owners were very friendly. Biscuits were fresh and the gravy was the best I have ever had. Oh, and the zucchini bread was a bonus. The best part was that you can tell that all the food was of high quality.
