I see a lot of hate here for GMG, and I don't feel it's warranted. I had a guitar and amplifier stolen from my property last week, and after bringing in a copy of the police report and locating the gear here at GMG, it was immediately handed over to me, no questions asked. They even offered to keep an eye out for the other stuff that was taken. This shop is located off Federal Blvd just north of Denver. It's easily accessible by thieves and fencers, but the business does a good job of profiling the people they accept gear from, and I appreciate their good character. 10/10. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Just went in there to try and buy a new amp. I tried a peavey bandit 65 from the 80s. They're asking $200 for the amp. It's only worth about $150 and the high gain channel doesn't work, The amp has no foot switch, which is required to even switch from the dirty to clean channel on this amp. The only thing that works is the Lo gain dirty channel. I pointed this out to the staff, and offered them $125 for the amp because I thought I could fix it. They then told me I was right about the problems with it but I was being rude and needed to leave. I admit that I was a bit abrasive, but I think anyone would be when you go into a used gear store and the first thing you try to use doesn't work, and then they act like you are the problem for bringing it to their attention. i think it's rude for a store to sell used gear that doesn't work and tell me I'm rude for pointing out the fact that it doesn't work. Gravity is as bad as customer service gets. Real rude crew from the owner on down, only a couple dudes who are friendly, I am no sure what is going on here. Shady dealings, they will sell you guitars that are messed up/ rigged/ misrepresented, they seem fine and then you get a guitar home and realize shoot, this thing has problems, they scam and plead ignorance. Their trained luthier is a hack artist. Steer clear. The poor customer service isn't even a one time thing, its over and over and over. Bunch of miserable people. I saw this place had a Vox ac30 at a decent price so I thought I would go give it a go. I just got paid and had some money burning a hole in my pocket. I always hear to not go here because they are shady but I figured how bad can they be since they have been around forever. My wife reminded me to grab a poster for a show to hang up while I was there. I walked in and asked the dude if they had a flyer wall or if I could hang it in the window at which point he told me no in the rudest voice possible and asked if I wanted to buy something. I left and bought an ac30 for more off a different Craigslist add. What kind of music pawn shop doesn't support local music? what kind of business talks to customers like that? Next time all the local musicians rag on this place for stealing things and being rude I guess I'm gonna have to join them. Like another Yelper has noted, that this is mostly just a pawn shop. If you like checking out random amps and instruments, PA gear, etc. this is actually a pretty cool place on that merit alone, and the occasional score on a diamond-in-the-rough is possible. If you are looking to sell, you will probably get a better deal than if you took it to a real pawn shop, but if if you are looking to trade-up, the big retailers can get more aggressive with trade-in values than you would get selling it here. That's not really a knock against this place in particular, but is more the nature of the business. And obviously the best way to get top-dollar for your equipment is to sell it yourself, which has it's own bag of benefits and hassles. My only real gripe is that it seems like they employ predominantly kids, and thus the customer experience can be expected to be consistently hit and miss. read more

What needs to be understood is that Gravity Music Gear is basically a pawn shop specializing in musical instruments. If you want sparkly new gear at a ludicrous mark-up, go to Guitar Center. If you're willing to be patient to get a great deal on solidly functional gear, check out Gravity Music Gear. My experience may be somewhat different because I have bought on eBay from them, but have always picked up my purchases in person in Denver. The "showroom" is a little bit out of the way, and it does seem like the better gear they have in stock is listed on eBay (although there always seems to be something weird/interesting in stock). They are not the best about responding to their email, but they're very easy to deal with on the phone and very friendly and helpful in person. Shady Business Practices & Poor Customer Service Mood: Seething After promptly paying for a guitar amplifier I won from Gravity Music Gear via eBay, several weeks passed before I received the item. Upon inspection, I discovered the power cord was missing from the package. This seller provided the absolute worst eBay experience I have ever endured. Bought an amp from them on eBay. The seller's listing said "there's a stain on top of the amp" but it's in "Good" condition. When I received the amp, I found that someone had spilled Blue Paint all over the top of the amp, and had messily wiped it off. When I emailed and called, I got some young twerp that was unsympathetic and unapologetic. "A stain" isn't the same thing as saying "the entire top of the amp had paint spilled on it." Obviously, they're paying a minimum wage young'un to write the descriptions. If I can't trust a description for something this obvious, will I be able to trust for more subtle things? They've lost a customer for life, and I will be telling this story to as many people as I can. read more

Keep in mind that these guys deal with used gear. I've used them a ton of times and they consistently offer me way more than any pawn shop or Guitar Center by a significant amount. They definitely know what gear is worth and then offer a reasonable amount based on the market. Sure, you won't get what you would selling it on EBay, but they need to make money by selling it on EBay for you. Any more, I will gladly take a hit on selling gear to not deal with selling on Ebay. The gear in house is definitely sub-par at best for the most part, except for a few unique amps most of the time, but it's always worth a look over. You never know what you might find. read more

I bought an amp from these guys on Reverb. From what I can tell it sounds great and, with one exception, it arrived as described, and the price was fair. But I had major problems with GMG. They screwed up the order, so I had to deal with them, and I must say that I have rarely been so abused, or treated with such contempt, suspicion, and general ill-will in any customer service situation. EVER. And I live in New England! Here's the tl;dr: First of all, the amp took longer that it should have to ship (3 days, minus Sunday and Labor Day [=5 days total], after the label was printed). Admittedly, this is a minor issue, but they have a fast shipper badge on their reverb site that says items usually ship in 24 hours, and at the bare minimum most shops on Reverb would send a quick message to let the buyer know what's going on when things take so long, especially after they've printed the shipping label. It's easy, I've done it myslef, "Hey, UPS is running behind because of the long weekend, it's going out today!" or whatever, just so the buyer isn't left wondering what the hell is going on, if something went wrong, or you just forgot to send it out because of the Holiday. I don't have $425 just lying around, I worked really hard and waited for a long time to buy this amp! It's just a general courtesy kind of thing that speaks to good customer service. The major issue is that the amp arrived without a power cable. It's now September 12th, I bought the amp used at their original asking price on August 30th, and I still haven't really been able to play it -- I had to borrow a power cord from a buddy who has a DSL 40 to test it out. When I asked them where the cable was, they gave me the silent treatment at first, then sent me a curt message implying that it was my fault or I was lying, but they'd send one anyway, and then went back to the silent treatment again. I tried to get their attention, and after some back and forth they went back to radio silence and kind of left it up in the air whether or not they were going to send the cord. Then next day I sent a conciliatory message asking if they would please let me know when the send the cord. No response. So I called them that afternoon to see if they had sent it, and to see if there was some sort of adult there that I could lodge a complaint with before I gave them a bad review. There wasn't. I asked to speak to a manager, and the guy just tried to bully me, he screamed at me, called me names, told me it was my fault, called me a liar and a scheister (am I spelling that right?), and a P.O.S. In all fairness, I made two bad moves through the whole thing that did make the situation worse: I brought up reverb feedback to move things along when they tried to ghost me the first time, and then, when the guy on the phone kept screaming, "SO WHAT DO YOU WANT WHAT DO YOU WANT," when I tried to explain my side of things, I finally told him he could take $100 of the price of the amp, which, in his eyes, just proved that I was a liar and was trying to rip him off. But he'd already called me a liar and a cheat at that point, he made his mind up about that the minute I asked them where the cord was. I wrote this review because I've had overwhelmingly positive experiences and transactions on Reverb, both buying and selling, and this just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Like, the world just seems like a darker, dumpier place if someone can just treat you like that for no reason and no one cares, you know? I've provided the relevant details, and have tried to explain everything as fairly as I can, albeit from my perspective. Maybe someone at Gravity Music Gear has the capacity for self reflection and will read this, if there is such a person. Probably not. At least I feel a little better about it. read more

I have NEVER had a bad experience with them. If you're selling, don't expect purchase EBay prices; they buy, clean/repair, and resell--they have to make a buck too. If you're buying, READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. I just bid on a guitar which did not have the whammy bar included, and it was clearly stated. I rate their presentation as good if not better than most gear in the EBay stores. I've bought stuff which was misrepresentented too, and went through the return process or sucked it up and kept it. They were selling a bass guitar on ebay. I called and first thing they did - they offered me to buy it behind ebays back for.few.bucks less. How ethical... not. Them i star ask them details about bass. To make sure it is okay. Tjry tell me that i ask too many questions and want to return the bass before I buy it. I ask questions.so I do NOT have to.return it. Next day the bass is off ebay and they refuse.to.re list it. Then they said that I asked too many technical questions about the bass and they do not.want to deal with me. The whole thing has bunch of red.flags. Avoid those crooks at all costs. They will break deals, like they were ready to do stuff behind ebays back. They will not answer.technical questions about condition of the item get very defensive and rude and give you attitude. Bought a JBL EON speaker from these guys on EBay. It didn't even power up from the time it arrived, but I didn't find out right away because I was in transition and wasn't able to try it out for a while. Masking tape on the back said "Blown tweeter." Went to open it up and try and service it myself and found that a number of the screws holding the enclosure on the baffle were missing. Once inside, it was clear someone had been inside and done a ridiculous job of hacking it up. My advice: don't back away slowly, just head for the hills. Stay away. read more
