Hands down the best grocery around. Plenty of help stocking, cleaning and helping customers. Great place to find Baltimore products, Berger's cookies, Mary Sue candy, etc. This is not a huge store but they really pack the merchandise in. Their fried chicken is delicious. Huge pieces and done right. The produce section has some unusual items, and plenty of the usual items. Parking is tight, and lots of traffic. Back out slowly!! read more

Normally, I love this place. I've been shopping at its various locations since I was a child, and it's a total go-to for me and my family. However, I had an experience today that sullied my view of this store, unfortunately. 2 days ago, I went shopping and ordered crabcakes from the prepared foods section. We went to cook them last night, and realized we were given salmon cakes instead. I don't even like salmon, so my husband called the store and they told us to bring them back today and they would help us out. I got to the store, explained my situation, and the person helping me asked me what I wanted to do. I didn't even know what my options were at that point, so I asked, and said I could either have a refund or get new crabcakes. Fine. I went to the prepared foods section again and got new crabcakes, and ordered a few other items as well. When it came time to check out, I did indeed get the crabcakes I had originally paid for---$26 for 2 versus $12 for 2 of the salmon cakes---so I am glad that wasn't a problem. My real issue is that when I asked what would happen to the salmon cakes (assuming they would throw them away for hygiene reasons anyway), the person helping me said she didn't know and she had to ask a manager. I said I would be happy to take them for my trouble and could she find out lol (my husband would have happily eaten them). After all, I had to drive back to the store to deal with a screwup they made. You would think they would have at least let me keep the $12 worth of items they are going to throw away anyway. Nope. No manager seemed to be coming, so I just said it was okay and left. Driving home, I started to feel stupid and like my kindness in the situation was taken advantage of. After all, this was just an annoyance, and I didn't expect an outpouring of free gifts, but at least giving me back the salmon cakes that wasted part of my workday would have been a nice show of good faith. Instead, I had to go stand in line and reorder crabcakes. Just not an amazing customer service experience IMO. There were some pleasant, helpful people there as always. The people at the deli counter were nice, as was another man who was at the customer service desk. But I just wish things would have been taken a tiny step further--at least an apology for the annoyance this caused us last night and today. And maybe a bit more interest in trying to get a manager involved instead of an "oh well" attitude. read more

Customer service has declined in a big way. Surly checkers spoil the Grauls experience. Used to love shopping there. It has become a challenge dealing with hostile staff, overloaded thin paper bags, no double bagging or two bags or plastic bags, pulling phone entry machine away while customer used it, would not pack cold items separately. All the while on the phone!! These are just the highlights! This place is AWESOME: First, the renovation is beautiful and stocked full of unique items you will not find elsewhere. Plus, they somehow managed the magic of keeping most of their traditional foods for oldies (like me) who've been going for decades and are very emotionally tied to certain items, while adding lots of high end new products for their newer hip-er buyers (like me too...smile) who are not stingy about spending more for exciting new taste treats. But most of all, they are SO customer centered. As one major example, Chris, the bakery manager, took a risk on ordering some very high end bread for me from a local artisan wholesale baker. I am in heaven!! Thank you so so much--I was always a fan, but now I am a loyal customer forever! And by the way, Yelpers, in case any of you out there have been searching for the best white bread on the planet, try the Rustic loaf from Bakery DeFrance. It is made using a slow, days long fermenting process and the result is fantastic. There is new evidence that gluten problems may be more about the modern quick forced fermenting then the actual wheat itself. All I can tell you is that it is the best ever and if you like traditional sandwiches, French Toast or bread pudding you can't do better than this bread. You will find Graul's Market produce and deli selections to be fresh and high quality, although I know the price is a bit higher than the large chain stores. That price dictates the quality you are sure to receive. The staff are helpful and friendly; after over 10years of buying from them, I've yet to have an unpleasant experience. On the very few occasions that I've had problems, the items were credited to me, no questions and sometimes with only a photo, not the actual item. I've had the freshest, best fish, ever, and Phyllis has served me for years with great cuts. The more I go there and ask for more organic items, the more I see them appearing on the shelves. I have found the manager to be quite receptive and knowledgeable! Lately, short on time, I rarely go elsewhere for my groceries. Keep it up, Graul's! read more

You can't beat this place when it comes to the food selection. They've got all types of great stuff that you really can't find anywhere else. The market to hit before hitting the water Nice place to grab a quick bite before hitting the water. Not a very flashy place so easy to just drive by. Very good fried chicken. Make sure to grab a pickle before you head out. They also had my favorite pepsi, which is the throwback made with real sugar. All in all a very nice market to shop at with very good prices. Well, this was quite a disappointment. First, my preference is to shop at local businesses when possible. Graul's isn't that convenient but I was in the area so stopped in. Remember the ancient Burger King jingle about "special orders don't upset us"? That doesn't apply here. The deli service was not very friendly at all. I saw a lunch meat item was gone and asked if there was more in the back. The look said she had no desire to go check and was annoyed I even asked. Four workers for three customers seemed like a manageable workload. It turned out they did have more. Then I asked for it to be sliced thinly. Apparently, that too is a huge pain. The stare.... Unfortunately, the same lunch meat made me sick after eating it. Great. The grated parm was of very poor quality. I can't really justify going back. Except to return the items that made me ill. If you are going to have higher prices than a chain and less selection, you should probably focus on the service end. read more

We love Graul's. As new Annapolitans, we were excited to find what felt like a real hometown market. Each time I've gone into one of the chains in the area, I've missed the personal feel of Graul's. The fish and meat team talk about their work with pride and good cheer, pointing out cuts they recommend. The checkout crew is personable and caring with our items. The few issues we've had issues with have been immediately handled by the managers. And our requests for some items they don't carry were heard! They've got some yummy specialty items in the refrigerated section - salad dressings, dips. Produce is fresh and bountiful. And everything is... yup, shipshape! read more

I used to frequent Graul's several times a week for lunch. After a recent management/ownership change, I think it has actually gone downhill. On the surface, that wouldn't seem the case since they are conducting the world's longest renovation and the store is modernizing and brightening up its look. However, the vibe and prices have changed for the worse. The new owner seems to stalk around critiquing and you can feel it in the employees. It seems less hometown and casual and there has been a large turnover of long-time staff. Prices have also risen. The real reason I have stopped going here is that I have twice gotten violently ill after eating their prepared foods (deli/salads). It seems like they are stretching the holding times on these items. read more

You know, it doesn't get the 5 stars that the other one gets, but it's still pretty good. I think my issue with it (aside from it not having the ranch fries I would sell my soul to have available in DC (maybe it's good they aren't. I'd probably look like a weeble-wobble if I could get them anytime)is that it is pretty dark. The produce department is fairly expansive, and the bakery always looks delicious (try the brownie). Love this store! I grew up in a small town and appreciate it's personable service and homemade goods. I can't say enough about the friendly staff. My appreciation escalated to a whole new level this week when I lost my engagement ring. I had it in my wallet because my left hand was injured. It must have fallen out when I was checking out and I didn't realize it until days later. I frantically retraced my steps over the past week and contacted them. They found it and kept it safe. How to explain Grauls...It's sorta like Dagastinos meets A&P with a small touch of Food Emporium, if that makes sense. Like most have stated in their reviewed it's a nod to a simpler time. Definitely worth the drive locally, and good for those who don't want the hastle & hustle of big stores and lines. It's a bump above no frills, in my opinion with good quality seafood & produce. You can catch some good deals here if you keep a watchful eye & people are friendly here. The deli gets busy around lunch due to the courts & grandmas wanting chicken salad*... (*Which was just okay to me). So,take a number or better yet, grab a sandwich from the fridge & be on your way!! PS: Get a grauls card. read more

This is a great store with a good selection of products (not perfect, but good) and the service is outstanding. I don't mind driving in from Bowie as I have problems with the Giant and Safeway stores there in terms of wretched customer service. The deli at Graul's is excellent as is the fresh sushi. One Sunday January 29th 2017 I purchase shrimp fried rice from Grauls Market on Taylor Avenue. I had it for lunch on Monday January 30th and right after was not feeling very well when I noticed on the container it says sell by January 27th .This was food that should have been pulled from the shelf by the 29th, when I attempt to return it at the Grauls Market in Cape Saint Claire Annapolis I was told to take it back to Taylor Avenue . Once I got to Taylor Avenue the manager admitted that it was his error he was the one who should have pulled the item from the shelf. As much as I could appreciate his admitting he made this error I also have to wonder just how seriously they take selling food which the public consumes in their bodies seriously. We all make mistakes we are all human but when it comes to certain positions like dealing with human life you have to be extra careful . My money was refunded, he  apologized for the mistake, but it also showed me how much I was valued as a customer.  I had to leave from Glen Burnie to drive there to get my refund when I live close to the Cape Saint Claire store. The manager Joe there refused to accept my return and told his employee Gail to tell me to take it back to the Taylor Avenue store in Annapolis. Both locations are owned by the same family. I have been shopping at both stores for years and love the products but the way I was treated today I'll think twice about going into another one . I'm so shocked to see that someone else has been followed and watched by produce staff as well. I was in there recently and the produce and stockers were talking about me inappropriately where I could HEAR them and I got followed/watched by them while shopping. It was so uncomfortable. The bakery girl was very rude she was younger, skinny & african american and when i was looking in the case she approached me with an attitude like I was bothering here, i was not greeted. I was taken back by that. There food is mostly over priced and the store seems to not be in the best condition inside for being newly remodeled it looks like it's cheaply put together and falling apart. This isn't Trader Joes! Grauls doesn't come close to Trader Joes customer service, their ability to build rapport with customers, and their happy employees. I'm disappointed in Grauls customer service. They made me feel like I'm not a valued customer and that my time is not valuable. After I reviewed my receipt and noticed I was charged for two items I chose not to buy (bc it was too expensive) the previous day, I returned to customer service the following day and was given a voucher to receive my refund from a cashier. Grauls never acknowledged their error and never offered me an apology for charging me for items I did not purchase and the inconvenience they caused me in having to make a special trip to come back to the store to remedy the situation. Grauls is now not my "go to" grocery store in Annapolis. I can easily spend my money elsewhere. read more

This is a perfect market for cruisers in Annapolis Harbor. There is a trolley shuttle that goes from the Church circle to the Naval stadium. The grocery is across the street. They have a great selection of local produce. We found several cruiser's staples like boxed milk. We didn't find that at Safeway! read more

I always came to Grauls for the produce department and the chicken salad from Deli, I have had several experiences in produce and now I feel like I need to FINALLY write a yelp review. I had tried to contact store manager which was on vacation and the people who picked up the phone had no idea what they were doing, they disconnected me TWICE. That has also happen during lunch time when I call over to the Deli counter, they need to work on how to property pick up the businesses phone! I come to Grauls to use the salad bar which is very nice has good options and clean but the WORKERS in produce itself always seem to have something better to do or something else on the mind.. then helping the customer. Several of the same guys are always checking out women and very young girls around the store with the men who stock the shelves. This is very unprofessional to me as a customer I would like to comfortably come to this market to shop not be stalked by produce men around the store all the way to the Deli for 10 mins... this is very strange to me, do they not have enough work to be done? The management need to control the workers in this store. After having this happen to me several times in the last MONTH I will no longer be patronizing this Annapolis market and I sure will let my family and coworkers know. read more

this is specific to their sushi...the market is great with a fantastic deli and the chicken salad is the best I've ever had. And I was so excited when I saw they now were selling sushi....and by a great sushi restaurant in town. But the first time I saw it there was hardly anything left and when I ask if he was going to make more he looked at me as if I had three heads.
