It didn't flatter us that we were seated in the main room where the volume of the more casual diners was overbearing. It felt like a cafeteria, or bar atmosphere, and disappointed our expectations, as having arrived at 7pm the fireplace wasn't even lit the whole time we were there. We are locals, having been apart for going on 4 years dealing with aging parents, it was our first formal dinner alone in that long, and the wait staff didn't recognize we needed a more romantic setting. We've tried the Italian sub my hubby liked it but they grilled it and he's not a fan of hot subs, the meatloaf sandwich which was meatloaf shaped in a patty and fried like a burger (not great and one end wasn't completely cooked) the Caesar wrap which had too much dressing and was grilled so the lettuce inside was warm, limp and disgusting, the Philly steak and cheese sandwich was not shaved meat but appeared to be the parts you trim off and throw away, not one bite of meat I wanted to eat, big fatty chunks, grissly and a weird texture with only very few slices of pepper and onion (I took the bun off and looked because I couldn't bite through a single piece of meat after the third bite and wanted to see what it looked like). We have not tried the burgers but the pizzas are good and the desserts are fabulous. The service is hit and miss. Sometimes there are 2 people "working" but you have to go to the bar to order as they stand behind it and chat, sometimes it's one person and they handle everything fine (with the same amount of customers). When we are at the beach we are just chillin most of the time so it's not a problem we are just never sure if we are supposed to self serve or wait for a server. But If you are in Pacific City and want a good pizza with homemade crust Megs is your place and if you have a sweet tooth the pastry cooler will provide the perfect treat to finish or start your day at the beach!

We stayed for a while and the staff could overhear how much my mom loved the cookie. They made another batch and gave my mom a "to-go" cookie. They were so sweet here and it was just a super thoughtful gesture. Thank you for your staffs kindness. These small gestures of being kind "regardless of giving away something" can mean the world to someone as you never know what they are going through at the time. What you didn't know is we came here to spread our family's ashes and were on our way to spread them after having coffee. That's partly why it meant a lot to us

However, on our most recent visit, we discovered that half of our dishes were dry and partially inedible. The main issue with our to-go order was the ribs. For my kids, I ordered the BBQ ribs. At least half were too dry and tough to eat without posing a choking risk. For myself, I placed an order for the gluten-free sweet and sour ribs. Mine were at least 3/4 too dry to eat, to the point I was trying to drink water while chewing in order to get the meat soft enough to swallow. It just wasn't worth the risk or pain in my jaw so I ended up throwing away most of the two rib orders. My husband's fish and chips were fine, as well as the cucumber salad, edamame, and a grilled cheese I also ordered for the kids. I was planning on ordering from Beach Wok a second night, but with the prices as high as they are and our bad experience a few nights earlier, I decided against it. They have a small space but they also have covered outdoor seating as well. They were doing a brisk take out business when we were there for lunch on a weekday. All in all a solid meal and then some.
