While taffy is not our "go to" sweet, these Taffies were very nice and clearly made with quality ingredients. The Chocolates were of a very high quality. We especially liked the orange and raspberry bars. We also enjoyed their upscale interpretation of a Yok Peppermint Patty. The care and love for the Craft was evident in the quality and refinement of the Chocolates we purchased. It's good to support small family operations. It is very easy when the product is this good! We'll be back next trip!

We always stopped at a candy company that had the old style antique candy machines that they were still using and you could watch the man working at the machine that actually cut and wrapped the saltwater taffy. Well, I recently went back in because I was trying to find that shop and lo and behold. There was the machine and the young lady behind the counter said that her family had owned it since the business had been started further north of 101 and at her parents now we're running it, but she would eventually take over from them, and I just picked up an assortment a handful of this handful of that because I have relatives that live in the Midwest and all they can get is the run-of-the-mill factory produced saltwater taffy that really has no flavor and is horrible and about two hours after the box arrived and I've always opened it. I got a call saying oh my Lord this is the best saltwater taffy we've ever had.

Listen. If you ever find yourself wandering through the salt-kissed mist of Cannon Beach with sand…read morein your shoes and an ache for something sweet in your soul, go ahead and duck into Schwietert's Cones & Candy. It's a sugar-slinging time machine. Shelves groan under the weight of taffy in colors that don't occur in nature and fudge dense enough to warp gravity. I had the ice cream. Two scoops. Marionberry Pie and Mountain Huckleberry. Both from Tillamook, which around here is less a brand and more a benevolent dairy cult. These berries are like edible postcards from the Pacific Northwest. One bite and you're knee-deep in a foggy forest thinking you hear Bigfoot weeping quietly from joy. Of course the prices are high. You're in a town where the beach views are free and everything else makes up for it. The real gamble is who hands you your scoop. Some of us got generous lumps the size of a toddler's fist while others looked like they'd been served a sample. Such is life in a democracy. The lines wound throughout the store, but it moved along at a respectable clip. People were smiling. Sugar does that. All in all, this is the kind of place that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. A temple to nostalgia. A sanctuary for the sweet-toothed and sunburnt. Four stars. One star held in reserve for the day someone figures out how to standardize scoop sizes.

It was a mixture of candy, waffle cones and other goodies. But first we needed to have lunch and I promised we would be back for some ice cream. What's a vacation without a daily scoop of ice cream ESPECIALLY when you are on vacation with your GG? I made good on my promise. We walked in and were met with a display of various fudge, saltwater taffy galor but we were there for some ice cream. Which was located at the back of the store. Displayed in all its yumminess was various flavors of Tillamook ice cream. Granddaughter chose birthday cake. I had jamoca almond fudge and my son had a cherry jubilee. We found seating outside in a courtyard where we enjoyed our ice cream before our big drive home.

Since I don't know this person well, I'm not sure how experienced they are with cheese, but I can say they have pretty good taste it seems. The cheese is definitely delicious, and the ice cream is tasty as well. The storefront, however, is a quirky mix of a curio shop and a thrift store, which adds a unique touch but might not be for everyone. The person behind the counter was warm, friendly, and helpful, which made the experience pleasant. As for the cheese, while it's very good, I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best I've ever had, but it's still quite enjoyable and fairly priced. The ice cream was an interesting experience--scooped into a sort of mixing machine, with frozen pieces of peach (in my case) added in. It was a fun texture and definitely a highlight. The store layout was a bit confusing, with a blend of handmade items from local artisans mixed in with secondhand goods. It has its own charm, but after a few minutes, I was ready to move on. That said, I happily enjoyed my ice cream and some cheese curds without any complaints
