We went in to pass the time awaiting my husband's work meeting to end, and found so many items new to us and interesting, including a powder sugar treat that customers can layer into long, straw-like contraptions. Been here a dozen times this past year and it's always fun. I love being able to find some of my old time candy and even the new stuff. We found this place walking at downtown. It was such a fun cute little place. It's a candy store but they sell little other little things. I definitely bought some things here. It's a pretty small place, but along a street of TONS of other shops, so I wouldn't be surprised if you stopped in! It's not unlike other candy places, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It wasn't very busy when I went, and the person working seemed nice. I'd overall recommend this place, but don't come in expecting some crazy different, or unusual, place! I really like this place, but I've tried to go twice in the last week and each time there's been a sign on the door saying it's closed early. If you're going to close early all the time, at least have the decency to change your posted hours or make a post of Facebook or something so you don't waste people's time and gas. read more

This is a fairly new store. They have all kinds of candy from years ago that you thought didn't exist anymore. We even found candy and bubble gum cigarettes! The store is nice and clean and there is bulk candy of all kinds on the walls from jelly beans to m&m's, to licorice, to hard candy. Pretty much if you want it, they probably have it. And they have lots of novelty candy sizes like half pound peppermint patties and 10 lb gummy bears and rice krispy treats the size of a baking sheet. I like this place, although it's a bit expensive for me but it's probably pretty similar to your local mini mart on normal candy bar prices. read more

I walked in one day intending to just window shop (I don't have much of a sweet tooth), and I ended up walking out with a bag full of candies and two packaged ones. What the heck happened?! I was spell bound by this retro candy wonderland. For starters, their "Ricky's" sign, spelled out in large bright bulbs along the far wall, calls you in from the sidewalk. Different types of candies from all over, many I'd never heard of, candies I hadn't seen since I was a kid, candies from outside of the U.S, all wrapped up in shiny brightly colored packages. Gummy candies have evolved a bit since I last stepped into a candy store. I added to my loot gummy vampire teeth, gummy moustache, gummy snails, and gummy brains, which thoroughly impressed my 3 year old nephew. And check out the leg lamp in the window! I stopped in here with some friends a few days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised to find an adorable candy shop in Salem. It seems like downtown Salem has gotten a little run-down or sketch over the years, but this is a fun little store. They have sodas in glass bottles galore, colorful candies in dispensers, and the normal candy bars. They even have a section on foreign candy. My friend got a Cadbury bar from the UK, and I got some Japanese chocolate. I talked with the owner, and he said they were currently trying to procure some German and Australian candy - after that they're going to move on to Russian candy. Definitely check this place out if you're wandering the mall nearby or if you've just gotten turned around in the one-way grid that is downtown Salem. read more

This place has some really awesome novelty gifts! Got a public bathroom kit in a tin for a gag gift. Great selection of candy and it was cool to see some from back when I was as a kid. Only gave it 1 star because there is no 0. I have 2 negatives: customer service & pricing. Went into the shoppe with my mom to look around & possibly get some candy at about 6pm. There were 2 girls working inside, neither of which said hello, offered any help or said a single word to either of us. We were the only people in there & they were more concerned with talking to each other than showing a shred of customer service. The pricing was too much. There were some chocolates & candies I've gotten from other stores for a much fairer price. I understand some are from other countries so they are "specialty" candies, but $2.50 for a chocolate bar that is typically $1.50 at most is a little too much. read more

I like this place a lot, I really do. They have a lot of unique and great gift ideas and a lot of cute novelty items and old school candies. One thing I have always noticed though, is their bulk section and how the candy inside the bins is always very low, next to little to none. I usually don't buy the bulk candy, but I decided to get some yesterday. I should've trusted my first thought because it was very stale and hard. This makes me distrust their wrapped candies, so make sure to check the dates just in case. I wish I could give them a higher rating, but I can't bring myself to it. read more

This place is amazing! I am so happy all those months waiting for the construction to be over, has finally come to an end and has revealed this super fun candy land! The selection of candy is wild, what DONT they have. Though not suited for someone with braces, like myself, there's still something for everyone in there! However, despite the amazing selection, and crazy good prices... You cannot beat that customer service! The owners are the sweetest people ever, (hence why they own a candy shop) they are so nice and can hold a conversation as if we were friends and went way back. We love this place! The owners are super friendly and knowledgable. I told the lady I like licorice, and she showed me all the types they carry and let me sample each one. I was very impressed by that, as I've had many experiences lately where the employee acts like helping you is an intrusion on their time. The cinnamon bears were stale as were the cry baby gum balls. In addition they have started to carry more and more novelty items sporadically placed throughout the store that contain profanity and are sometimes uncouth. A candy shop should be child friendly.
