We arrived early and our movie didn't start for a few more hours, so we decided to kill some time at My Candy Fix and the next door GameStop. While in My Candy Fix, I noticed they had Sno-Biz snocones. We got some candy and walked around the mall a little bit before returning. I got a small size snocone and had to wait a little while as the cashier had to tend to other customers. Once the other customers were helped, I got my cone, and John offered to put in some extra to compensate the wait. One of my friends wanted to know what the snocone syrup tasted like, and offered to buy a small size without any ice. John told him that there was no need to pay, and gave him a "shot" of strawberry snocone syrup. After that, my other friend wanted to try the Rube Goldberg-esque gumball machine. Towards the end of the gumball's ride, it fell off the track. It still fell into the dispenser, but we still wanted to know what happened at the end. That's when John came over and put in his own coins to see why the gumball fell off. After finding out, he too a gumball from the top of the machine and put it on the remaining part of the track so we could see how it ends. And he also let us keep the test-gumballs! Overall, my experience was incredible and without John, it would've just been another run-of-the-mill candy store. But John made my friends and my experience worthwhile, and I'll be sure to drop by again.

There was a unique, small hand-crafted selection. I purchased marionberry truffles (because, Oregon), pumpkin spice caramels and maple caramels - made with real maple. The woman who helped me at the counter was the one in the back of the shop making the treats too. Always great to support local, and enjoy a delicous treat.

It was one block away. We went there and were given two samples each! Upon which we bought more than we intended to. We went back to the RV and made a delicious pot of decaf coffee and savored the remaining pieces of our See's Candy together as we watched a streamed WI-FI movie. The manager was lovely and kind and asked us all about where we were from and what we were doing in Salem. Definitely look into stopping in at See's on the Main Street area on Liberty St NE. You may have to drive around twice the block to find a parking spot. But you will find the staff friendly, warm, and inviting at the Salem See's Candy. As always a free piece of candy too!

The store is packed with decorative tins you can select to contain your popcorn if you are giving it as a gift. Also there was a bunch of unusual candies on offer, as well as fudge. But I was here for the popcorn. The selection is huge! Sweet, savory, spicy, tangy, it's all represented here. Service was super relaxed and friendly. They were patient with me while I perused the extensive menu. If you aren't getting a tin for the popcorn, they sell it in bags. There are a bunch of different size bags, and I liked that there are smaller (but still generous) sized bags that enable you to try a variety of different flavors. I went with white cheddar, Chicago mix (caramel and cheese), spicy pickle, Jalapeno ranch, peanut butter chocolate, and Oreo. All were so delicious! Every kernel was packed with flavor. The popcorn itself was fresh and with zero unpopped kernels. The seasonings were all just right, not too much or too little, and evenly adhered to the popcorn. So addictive! The service was super nice, and the prices not too bad. I think they deliver too. I grabbed a menu because I will definitely be back! Such a great place to have here in Salem. The food was good and I couldn't leave without buying some of their smoked Oaxacan cheese to take with me. Let me tell you, it only lasted me 2 days. I wish I had bought more. As I was buying the cheese, I saw a family enjoying some ice cream cones and I had to try their ice cream as well. This place has everything. I got a cone of the Oregon mint and honestly I think it might be one of the best flavors of ice cream I have ever had. It was so fresh and flavorful and I was actually sad when I started getting to the bottom of the cone. If you're an ice cream person, you have to try it. They also gave me a card for a free game of bowling at Northgate Bowl which I thought was a really neat bonus.
