Did some work for us reasonably priced and 0 issues, couldn't fix everything and adjusted the bill 0 complaints. However, they then turned up in winter to 'blow out' our sprinklers. Turned up, did it and charged us $150. What was worse is they texted me before asking me if i wanted this, I said no. They then texted again I said no. I then called them and made sure they wouldn't come, woman said they wouldn't. then they turn up and blow them out and charge us. I disputed this and her response was 'well when you use us you sign up to a contract for this service'. I asked for the contract they could not provide it, I have never signed a contract with them. Come up to service to fix the problem never got back. I called so many times no one answer but AI voices.I had so many issues for just 2 months in services. Come up with credit card, the Tech told me on the service date was $5 service charge but turn out the company charge me over $40.00. In 2 weeks i called to fix the issue that the Tech didn't do right ,they send me another bill. The owner extremely very rude and ignorant, this is How he fix the issues : We don't deal with cheap people. I have an idear irrigation is a for high end people if you can't afford service don't have them done. Its is wrong move,rich or poor no matter ,you need to fix the problem you did not done right. Have used this company for probably close to 20 years. Always had credit card on file. This year the tech who came was AWESOME, replaced heads, checked timer everything. Total was $245 which we find TOTALLY reasonable BUT we went to pay on line because they said they no longer had card on file. Everytime I tried to check out it was adding $9.84?? so I called and was informed they have a new system and whether you pay on line or by phone there is a "fee". The only way to avoid "fee" is mail it in. NOPE, not this day in age paying money to make a payment???? I will use my 60 cent stamp and find a company that will let me pay with credit card like every other company. Too bad, it's the principal but tech was great!! read more

I canceled the service before they even came out due to the rude customer service. After confirming my appointment with Grasshopper Irrigation, I reached out to the company to ask what I needed to do prior to the appointment. They instructed me to turn on the water in the basement. I responded to them, letting them know that I just bought the house, but I can assure them there is no basement. They argued with me, insisting that they had notes and have been servicing my home for many years, and questioned my address, which I confirmed for them. I apologized as there was clearly some miscommunication or error as they had the wrong notes for my home. The company then responded with, "No need to get snippy." I'm not really sure how my apology and acknowledgement of the misinformation on their part is "snippy," but needless to say after this interaction, this company will not be welcome in my home. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere, where I am spoken to in a more respectful manner. read more

I don't know what has happened here, but things have changed dramatically over the years. Grasshopper installed our sprinkler system many years ago and we've had them opening and closing the system the entire time. Two years ago, the tech was a no show, then late for the appointment to close the system. Last year, late again (hours). This year, not only were they a no show altogether, but they were rude on the phone then simply never responded to any calls to reschedule. I try to allow for people having bad days, but I am just at a loss on this. It has been seamless transactions until recently. So, after weeks of calling and waiting, instead of paying $125 to close my system I spent $80 to buy a small compressor (HF) and a "blowout adapter" (HD) and did it myself. read more

Terrible experience. They automatically charge my credit card even though I didn't give them permission to charge it. I had used them for a prior turn off and had given my credit card to them by phone so I did not agree to have them automatically charge it for a service they never performed.. they never turned on my irrigation system in the spring of 2024. Charged me about $500 for turning it on and reportedly replacing a few heads that did not work. I was away for the summer but came back to a burnt out lawn, and My water bill for outdoors water usage was $0.0 for that entire summer; indicating that they never even tested my system as they said they did. our lawn was severely damaged during the drought of 2024 and has not recovered. A beautiful grass lawn is now full of weeds as all the grass died as a result of the irrigation system never turning on. They did send someone in September 2024 when we returned home to a burnt out lawn and contacted them, but by that point it was too late to salvage our lawn. I try to work with them to get a refund for them never turning on my system and they would not give me a refund. stay away from this company. I even contacted the attorney General's office and they told the Attorney General's office they would be sending me a refund and they never did. read more

My experience was terrible. I paid them close to $500 to turn on our irrigation system and to replace a few sprinkler heads on May 15, 2025. The system was never turned on. It was not even tested as our water bill for our outside water meter for that entire period was $0.0. I don't even trust that they replaced the sprinkler heads as by the time we finally got it working in mid September a few sprinkler heads did not work. I was away for the whole summer, but came back in September to a burnt out lawn. Grasshopper Irrigation prefers you to schedule your appointment online and at that time you have to give them your credit card number and give them authorization to bill it for services. I specifically did not do this as I do not like to have companies have access to my credit card, I had also used them in the fall of 2023 to turn off my irrigation system as the company I had been using for the past few years did not get back to me and the cold weather was coming. I called and scheduled an appointment with a person at Grasshopper. After they winterized my system, I called them and gave the person who answered the phone my credit card for that particular service. They took the liberty of storing my credit card and using it in May of 2024 even though I did not authorize them to do so. I think they're running a racket. read more

We've had our irrigation system serviced by Grasshopper since we moved here in 2016 and they have been professional, helpful, knowledgable and reliable. We recently had them come out to give us an estimate of what exterior lighting they would recommend for exterior. After seeing the plan we decided to move forward and couldn't have been happier. I have been a customer of grasshopper for approximately 3 years. Grasshopper installed the system and has been doing every opening and closing of the system. Prior to the installation, I met with Dennis the owner and he assured me that we would have a flawless system even while using well water. To start the installation had some issues right from the beginning. I even had one of the service technicians admit to me that the Forman of the job left during the installation process well before completion. Furthermore, the technician stated that the work done looked "messy" and as result, it was no surprise that we were experiencing so many problems. Since the installation, I have had nothing but issues with my system. Recently, I made numerous attempts to reach out to Dennis to see if he could speak with me regarding the problems I have been experiencing. Dennis seemed unreachable; however, eventually did call me. When I answered, Dennis said, "hey I'm going to call Home Depot and ask to speak with the owner about a problem and see if the owner will call me back. You know owners of companies aren't supposed to call customers back, right? At this point, I immediately made the decision to stop my business with Grasshopper. Dennis, as a business owner you absolutely should speak to your customers when there is a consistent problem. I want all potential customers to be warned that if there are any problems with your systems, grasshopper will come out, send you a bill, and if the problem continues, Dennis could care less! read more

I've been a customer of Grasshopper Irrigation in Tewksbury for four years. Today their technician came to turn our drip system on for the season. I called the office to complain about (1) the technician's showing up an hour early without notifying me so that I could be home to ask some questions about the system (I had received an email and a phone call confirming the appt time), (2) a small parts charge on the invoice (they had shut the system off last fall, so how could parts be missing?), and (3) how to shut the system off because the tech left the system on with the pump running. Even after I turned the controller off, the pump kept running and the water kept flowing. The young woman I spoke with kept telling me not to yell at her. I had her on speaker and my husband was listening. He was as surprised as I was because I wasn't yelling at all. She told me the tech would call when he'd finished his other jobs. I told her it was an emergency because the water was running but she said there was nothing she could do about it. We ended the call. Next thing I knew, the owner called and told me our maintenance contract was terminated. I was incredulous and asked if at least someone would come to turn the pump off but he hung up on me! I had to call the town's water dept. and someone showed up immediately and helped me turn the water off. The pump then turned off automatically. Bottom line: RUN, don't walk, away from Grasshopper Irrigation! read more

A MONTH later they sent a tech who had no idea what to do. 2 weeks later they sent an experienced tech who identified 6 installation errors, but only had time to fix 3. I had scheduled an appointment to have a sprinkler head replaced (even though they were already out recently to restart the system, apparently they didn't bother to check them). When the four hour window of the appointment passed I called to ask if they still planned to come out. The owner told me that they were busy and would be there when they get there. He said I could reschedule if I wanted. I asked him if I did would they show up on time. The very angry owner (he was very proud that he was the owner) told me that if I didn't like the way he did business I should go somewhere else. On that point we agreed. I realized the owner clearly had some anger and emotional issues so no point in further discussion. I rate them zero. read more

The owner Dennis finally called and left a trash talking, (using F" bombs ) message on my voicemail ( after 1 month of persistent calling) saying that he will come back to fix the problem only if pay him again for his time, and he couldn't stop bragging how he's a big time irrigation company now! Shocked at the poor reviews-maybe they are listening and improving. Our entire process with a new sprinkler system install was seamless and easy. I called, they came out while I was away to survey the yard. Then I got an email quote, I called them to review a couple of questions and they were answered by Bev (great phone personality and customer service). Sold me a wifi controller and technician told me if it monitors local weather and will not water if it rains. Paid ~$500 for it. It rained two days in a row and it still turned on. Called Grasshopper and told them so they sent out another technician to figure it out. That new technician told me I was given bad info by the first tech and that the rain sensor could only do that. He said my rain sensor was not working and was old so he installed a new one. He told me the first tech should have noticed the sensor was not working and should have taken care of this the first visit. They still charged me for the second visit. No problem paying for sensor install but was charged another $98 just to come out. Called twice to discuss but no one would return my call. Got an email once they found out I was looking for another irrigation company. Here's what they said word for word copied from their emails, "Call rainbird we do not make the controller we just install it. You should of done your research on the controller. You need to take a corse in being a good custmer. I will refund you 98.00 because you need it more then me . I have 400 great reviews on google. So if you put a bad review shows that the custmor is high maintance. You can find someone else." Nice service huh? Made decision real easy to find a new company. You decide if you want to do business with a company that treats customers like this. read more

Grasshopper Irrigation first came to open my irrigation system in May, all seemed fine, due to a wet season, I didn't run my sprinklers until July. At that time we found several heads broken or flooding, that should've been taken care of in May. But we understand that some things can be missed when not run long, so we called, they sent someone out right away. He was great, fixed everything. I never received a bill, just an invoice through email stating completed work, no charge. A few months later, I saw on bank statement they charged me automatically. When I inquired about it the receptionist was accusing me because how dare I wait 7 wks to turn on sprinklers... when I asked to speak to owner he was beyond rude, telling me he has plenty of customers who pay and wouldn't it be nice if the truck dealership he just went to gave him free service. I wasn't looking for free service, I had paid a few hundred dollars to have it turned on and checked out. If they had done it properly, they would've seen the issues. They told us they sent us 3 invoices, we NEVER received one!! They just charged me without notice for a service that should've been done right the first time. When we called to talk it over, again, they were EXTREMELY rude! Wouldn't even have an intelligent discussion with us. read more
