What they had in the contract and brought to my house to install was an inferior model.
    Cristina G.

A heads up about Deceptive Sales Tactics and Lack of Transparency I had one of the most frustrating and deceptive experiences with this company, centered on a complete lack of transparency regarding the equipment being installed. First, they grotesquely misspelled my name. Yes it may be a small issue but telling detail that reflects a lack of care and professionalism. I invested hours of my day with the salesperson, agreed on a price, and got financing approved, expecting a smooth process. First red flag is that quote/sale agreement I signed was not sent to me in writing. When I requested the quote to be sent for my records, the estimate deliberately excluded the equipment model numbers for both the furnace and AC unit. When I texted the salesperson asking for clarification, he sent me information for a 16 SEER model, which matched what I had been quoted / agreed to, yet this was never included in the official paperwork. They pushed to install two days later. Despite my repeated requests via calls, texts, and emails, the company did not provide the actual model numbers and proceeded with installation. This delay immediately raised more concerns. I got a call from installers stating they were on their way then called the company twice and informed Rhea that I would not allow installation unless model was on my estimate/contract as agreed with sales person. Sure enough when the installers arrived, I asked them directly what SEER rating they were installing. They confirmed it was a 13 SEER, not 16 as agreed upon and per sales person confirmation via text. I asked the sales guy to send me the estimate Insigned, which was only shared at that point, listed the Rheem RA13NY24, confirming a 13 SEER unit, not the higher-efficiency system I was led to expect. By withholding those crucial model details from the original quote, this company kept their options open to install cheaper, lower-efficiency equipment while assuming I wouldn't notice. I felt misled, rushed, and deceived after having already been pressured to sign the estimate and apply for financing. I'm sharing this to warn other consumers: do not sign or finance anything until you have the exact model numbers and guaranteed SEER ratings documented in writing. They will push you to install asap but if you don't check the model you might get much less than what you agreed to. Transparency and honesty are fundamental in any major home investment, and unfortunately, I found neither with this company.

It was a one man job than only took about 30 minutes. I'd give them 5 stars except for the price, which was not unreasonable for the time spent. I assume I was paying for both technicians when it was a job for only one. I will use this company again, though.

I mentioned that we are selling the house and we were looking to repair an issue with the water pressure for the new owners. The plumber that came by called me and told me his recommendations. Two days later, I received an estimate for much more than what was recommended on the phone, and an invoice for the estimate itself. I responded questioning that estimate charge, because it wasn't mentioned in advance, and why there was work on the estimate that we were told we wouldn't need. The woman that responded was nice with her explanations, but it still doesn't sit right with me to charge for an estimate, or to not say that ahead of time. A week later, she called to follow up, and I told her because it was a Yelp thing, someone else was taking a look for us and I would be in touch if we wanted to continue with them; or I would pay the invoice for the estimate online. The other company that came told us everything Mr. Rooter had added to their estimate was not needed. If those things were a problem, we would have no water. So it would have been a waste of money. Two weeks later, after not reaching out to me again to follow up, she called my realtor and threatened to put a lien on our house, and interfere with the sale, if we don't pay the $200 estimate fee! That is extremely unprofessional! and $200 is very high, considering it cost your company nothing in parts, etc, and your employee was only at my home for 16 minutes. I am far from happy with my experience. Tyler, their plumber, was great! He seemed to know exactly what it was talking about, he was very nice on the phone and professional. But their office is a disaster and the customer service is a 1/10. To respond.. I never spoke tot Tyler over the phone regarding the bill, nor was I ever rude to him in any manner. I was never told in advance about any fees for estimates, so I would love to hear the recorded call you claim you have. I also responded to the email with the invoice for the estimate that I was unaware of a charge for it, and the response I received was "yes, that was our failure to communicate." I also did not say I would be using the estimate in negotiations for my sale, so it was not a "real estate estimate." It was a homeowner trying to get work done on their home. And the work is the home needs IS being done, by someone else. You are simply unhappy that I got multiple estimates done, and chose someone else, which I have every right to do, whether I am selling the home or not. Good luck to you and your corporate business.

    Northway Plumbing & Heating

I previously wrote a review on Northway Plumbing & Heating for a shower nozzle replacement. I stand…read moreby that review still. This is a new review on a Northway Plumbing & Heating for a boiler heating system problem I'd been having. This company is a one-man shop. The owner is the service technician. DO NOT, I repeat, do not let Northway Plumbing & Heating anywhere near your heating system - period! No exceptions! The first time I called Northway Plumbing & Heating my boiler (I have hot water baseboard heating) was producing a popcorn popping sound. Northway told me that I may need to replace the boiler, which he could do. My boiler is 15yrs old and rated for 25-40 years. Northway Plumbing & Heating came, inspected the boiler and declared it was sediment in the boiler. The owner/technician said he would pour a product into the boiler that would harden the sediment allowing it to be drained. The problem did not dissipate as promised. The second time Northway came he said he could use a stronger product which he said his supplier would have to order. Two weeks later Northway returned. Same process, he said. Pour it in, let it settle, drain the system (he called it bleeding the system), and refill the water to the boiler and hot water baseboard piping. The problem worsened. BTW... Northway left the product container and after all the visits were done I decided to google it - you can get it at Lowes for under $15. After the second time Northway tried to remedy the 'sediment' issue I asked a friend who'd been in the business for 35yrs to come listen and look at the boiler. He'd been out of the field for years so he didn't want to make a judgement. He said it was strange that my Aquistat (spelling ???) was set at 130 degrees when it should be at 180 degrees. I looked too and the lowest setting on that Aquistat was 130 degrees (important fact for next part of story). My friend said the Aquistat regulates when the boiler turned on/off. The third and final time Northway came he said my Aquistat could be the issue. I was curious why he thought that and he said this was the thermostat that turned on/off the boiler when the water temp reached a set degree. So ok, he had that right. You guessed it, the problem again was not remedied. So now I'm more than $500.00 poorer and the problem is still there. I asked my friend who'd been in the business 35yrs to come check out the work because something didn't seem right in all this. Here's what he found: The cover on the Aquistant was old, not new so my friend was suspicious if it was replaced at all. I called Northway and asked. Northway said the old Aquistat didn't allow the temp to be set low enough - he said the boiler temp may have been too high and that may have been causing the water and sediment to pop loudly. So my friend looked at the new Aquistant and its lowest setting was 140 degrees - now remember my old Aquistat which my friend and I checked before Northways third visit had a lowest setting of 130 degrees. So I called Northway again and asked why the cover was dirty and marked up, and why Northway replace an Aquistat with a lowest temp setting of 130 degrees with one that had a lowest temp, setting of 140 degrees. Northway said the dirty and old cover I was concerned about was that he simply put the old cover back on mistakenly. The Aquistat replacement reason was more interesting -Northway said my original Aquistat only had a lowest setting of 180 degrees. When I questioned him on this saying both my friend and I both read the old Aquistat and saw the 130 degree setting he told me that we read it wrong, and it only had a 180 degree lowest setting - that my old Aquistat Never had a 130 degree lowest setting. Northway then started on a tirade saying my friend doesn't know what he's talking about. Northway continued his tirade saying my he'd like to meet my friend and teach him about boilers. Needless to say I was either ripped off, or worse, and Northway has basic knowledge or limited knowledge of boiler systems, or heating systems in general. Now for the real fix: Five weeks after Northways third and final repair visit I discovered water leaking from my hot water baseboard pipe in one of my rooms. I called Albany Mechanical Services, a heating and cooling specialist company out of Green Island. The technician said my popcorn popping sound was simply that the hot water baseboard pipe had a small pin hole that grew over time until it was visibly leaking. The tech repaired the hold and my boiler is as good as new. No popcorn popping sound. Albany mechanical said all any heating specialist needed to do from the start was watch the pressure gauge after refilling the system. You would have seen the pressure drop. A clear clue to a leak in the piping. DO NOT, I repeat, do not let Northway Plumbing & Heating company anywhere near your heating system - period! No exceptions!
