Grabbed breakfast at 7:30am and service was fast and friendly. The PDX to JFK breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, Tillamook cheddar on poppy seed bun) was very flavorful and a good medium size (neither small nor large). The bacon is very thin slice but has solid bacon flavor. My favorite part was the over easy egg had the yolk 80% cooked. Just like a great homemade sandwich. The seating area is lovely as well.

I'd had one of the other Grassa locations bookmarked for ages, so when we had to come to the airport a few hours before a flight, I was excited to finally get to check them out! My mom and I ordered a Caesar salad and garlic bread to share, then each got our own bowl of the Carbonara. We probably could've even shared the carbonara with everything else since the portions are pretty good and we weren't that hungry. The Caesar salad was fantastic with the preserved lemons and anchovies, I've been wanting preserved lemons on my salad again ever since I had them here a few months ago. The garlic bread was good and I'm glad we got it. The only thing I wasn't crazy about it was the pasta, I would get a different one next time. The pancetta was pretty fatty/greasy and I've had better carbonaras. I did like that it came with the fried egg on top though! The restaurant is located just past security, so it's pretty convenient no matter which gate your flight is at. They have seating in their immediate area, as well as other tables right out of what is technically there space.

Wow so yummy! Traveling home through PDX airport I spotted this place to eat at! Love Italian food and saw handcrafted pasta sign and was automatically drawn in. So glad I stopped. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs because of another review and I had a salad with me with no dressing so I asked for a little of the Caesar dressing which they did not charge me for and I tried the blueberry ginger lime. The guy taking the order was so friendly and caring about you and what you want. Very nice. You order and they bring it to you on china and with real silverware. There is a water station and to go boxes as well. The plate of food was piping hot and so delicious. I just came from Italy and know good pasta and meatballs! This is some good stuff! The drink he made homemade with syrups and ginger beer; just the right amount of everything. Was very delicious. The homemade Cesar dressing was the best I've ever had and I've tried a lot of salad dressings in my time! A must stop by and try something kind of place! I want to open one in my neighborhood! Way to go Grassa

GETTING HERE: Located inside the PDX airport REVIEW: As a non-frequent flyer, any food I eat whilst traveling is usually limited to chips and soda (ugh, gross, right?) - so color me stoked when I found myself tired, in a new airport, and hangry a few weeks ago and walked right by Grassa. OK, pasta? Bread? Very yes. It was late and much to my chagrin they had sold out of their garlic bread. Uhm, wha?! But, I was craving protein (better choice) and needed something quick and somewhat portable as I was heading to the exit. I ordered their meatballs and they were pretty good. Of course, they were served hot (win!) and I was able to eat them while walking. It took a bit longer than I had hoped for/expected, but overall that wasn't an issue because my protein was hot and very flavorful. Service was OK; nothing noteworthy. Ambience was a bit awkward IMO, but the seating was open and located right in front of the counter. Please Grassa, when I return to PDX next, save me some garlic bread.

Spaghetti and Meatballs from Grassa. It's hard to believe this is airport food.

Hats off to Grassa and to the Portland Airport for redesigning and refining what is possible for airport food. Grassa, of course, fits into the new mission of the Portland Airport: to highlight local vendors that run high quality Oregon businesses and exemplify the quirky, creative food and retail scene. That is an ambitious goal, but somehow they are managing to do it. And well. Grassa is a perfect ambassador for well priced casual local cuisine. The first location opened in SE Portland fifteen years ago. The quality of this spaghetti and meatballs order is on par with restaurant-quality food. Toothsome pasta, a good sauce, good pork meatballs and generous fresh parm. A positive casual dining experience with cooked to order pasta delivered to your table by helpful staff, and plated nicely. More like a restaurant-quality food experience than most currently offered in most US airports. Don't sleep on this.

Grabbed an Italian Flag sandwich for the road on my way to Vegas where all the restaurants close by the time I arrive. Taste was okay. Bread is softer than you expect so it's not the mouthful it looks like. I like the firmness of the cheese. Using roasted tomato sauce saves it from the sogginess of fresh and gives it a tang. Ambivalent right now if I would buy another one.

Fast, friendly, great service My avocado toast had a whole avocado Fresh scrambled eggs and a seed mixed with pitas and a small garnish of pickled onions Price a bit high, but was a very healthy airport option

Airport review, I'll be a regular at this place if I was flying from the same gate every time! Good quality good and it was a relatively quick service as well

So glad Grassa opened at PDX! We always make a special trip to Grassa when we're in town, and now it's easier to get it twice. Love the Luke (spaghetti and meatballs). The service is fantastic, very friendly and down to earth. The eating area is clean and spacious. Can't complain about minor flight delays when it allows me to eat more Grassa.

Was very hungry after my flight. Grassa has hand crafted pasta and the dish was amazing. Fantastic taste and price of 12$.

I was so excited to see Grassa in the airport and it will now be my go to airport food! I got a Caesar salad and the black truffle papardelle. The salad was so fresh and I loved the anchovies on top. The pasta was also delicious and perfectly al dente. I dream of this meal and can't wait for my next trip to Portland!

I wasn't very hungry, but when I saw the grassa at the pdx airport, I had to stop for some fresh pasta. Prices are amazing for an airport, pdx has done a great job. The pasta does take a bit to be prepared so not a good choice if you're in a hurry, but if you have an extra fifteen minutes, this is a restaurant worth stopping by. The restaurant has a nice seating area and it feels very high end for an airport restaurant. The fresh pasta from grassa is always amazing and the airport maintains the quality of their standalone restaurants.

Grassa's expansive seating area in Terminal D. Warm wood tones and great lighting
    Andrew C.

Super comfy yet refined place to grab a bite and chill before or after boarding your flight in Terminal D (note: you have to go through security to get here.) The lighting is lovely, with tall ceilings and warm wood features in this recently redesigned wing of the airport. I only had a drink here - no food - but stayed longer than expected just because it was such a nice vibe. Counter service with friendly folks to help you out, too. Wine, beer and cocktails.

But they also gave the option to pre-purchase cookies or caviar, which is a fun way to surprise the reservation party members. We had bar seats and left the option open to order à la carte or go with their prix fixe. The example menu on the website is several months out of date, so I was not quite sure what we'd get. But I understand the focus of this restaurant to be fresh, in-season food, locally sourced, vegetable-forward, French-inspired. It's a neat location near Mt Tabor. There's not a lot nearby, so it feels like a destination. There is a small parking lot next door, which is convenient. You enter through their market/oyster bar. There's not an immediately clear check-in table. And you're walked through the back to the other side where the Coquine dining room is. It feels a tad underwhelming - perhaps too casual for the finer dining expectation. Additionally, the person who greeted us was a tad surly. Service was friendlier during dinner but a little less hands-on than I'd like. I liked the design of the restaurant. Good lighting, natural decor, red countertop. They are a "zero foodprint" restaurant so the napkins and coasters are washable, serving utensils are wood, etc. It gave a very organic feel. Okay that said! We ordered the following à la carte: -Half dozen oysters (fun toppings - pomegranate gelee) -Bread and butter (normal, would skip next time) -Roasted carrots -Shaved cauliflower salad -Potato gnocchi -Pan seared black cod (our favorite) -Citrus tart (unique) Everything was tasty: well prepared, beautiful to look at, fun sauces and elements to discover. It might have been too many cold dishes at the start. We also got a half dozen cookies to go. I've heard that these are the best cookies in the city. They have nuts, which is an immediate disqualifier for me, but even without that I'm not sure they live up to the hype. Very delicious? Sure. Best in the city? I don't know about that. Overall this was a good meal, in a nice atmosphere. It felt very "Pacific Northwest." Worth a visit if you appreciate seasonal, ingredient-driven dining.
