First off, I would like to say I have been going to Grape leaf/grape leaf express for about 20 years. Only thing is 15 years in Perrysburg. They were always great never had one complaint with Perrysburg location. For the last 5 yrs. I moved and have been going to Monroe Street since. I only get 1 thing each and every time I go. Large Greek Chicken Salad. It cost almost 15 dollars today for take-out. Its pricey but if its good I am okay with it because it's healthier than a burger. I am sorry to say that particular store is kind of a crap shoot. Sometimes good, sometimes okay, and sometimes not so good. Big difference between the two stores that is for sure! Very few cucumbers and tomatoes, two greek olives, two beets kind of skimpy on feta. Dressing is spotty, sometimes not so good and seems to be runnier than an oil at times. I am sure it depends on who makes it, but consistency should be the name of the game. This particular store has always been just very skimpy almost always. Romaine lettuce is almost always cut in huge, not bite-able pieces that's for sure. It Just seems to me this place is just not really into the business like the other one over in Perrysburg. Almost over it especially for the cost. Chicken is usually always very good sometimes a little dry but usually spot on. Help at counter is always kind. I hate giving a review like this but I am tired of it happening over and over again. FYI: Do not go to any other place for a greek chichen salad either because they are even worse in this area. Absolutely amazing food here! Looks like this place does a lot of take out food. We choose to eat in. Lots a places to pick to sit. You order and pay at the counter, there's a station to get your drinks and silverware. Food serviced plated. Everything was fresh and delicious. Had the gyro and side salad. This place has great gyros. My only complaint is the pita was a little tired. I know they can get that way if they sit out for even 20 minutes, but this one was on the brink of being too far gone. I wish they would have made the decision to use a different one, but the sandwich was still great. The side salad has the house dressing. It's wonderful. Garlicky and salty with hints of lemon and not too much olive oil. Very light and fresh. Really nice alternative to the typical fries. Service was pretty quick, and the place is clean. Food is flavorful but this business isn't run like the Grapeleaf Diner in Holland. I ordered fattoush and it was all lettuce with some pita chips thrown on top. Definitely not fattoush. When I called the person was utterly unhelpful. Said she "didn't make it so she doesn't know". And left it at that. If you want a decent order prepared correctly get it from the original in Holland. This was my first time eating here. We chose to eat inside, the food was alright, I was disappointed with the sauce on the Gyro, it wasn't tzatziki sauce. The restaurant inside was really nicely decorated, but they need to do better housekeeping, it was pretty dirty. If I eat there again I would probably just get takeout. But I'll probably just try a different place instead next time. Oh and they added a $3.15 "Non cash adjustment charge " to the bill, Idk what that means, but it was shady. read more

The mixed meat gyro is easily among the best in town, as far as carryout gyros go, stuffed to the brim with fresh veggies, creamy tzatziki sauce, and large hunks of tender gyro and chicken breast. We dined in and the meal was served with fresh and well dressed fattoush (of the lettuce variety) and hearty helping of fragrant yellow rice. I added a side of lemon rice soup, which was really tasty and perfect for a cold day, very thick and hearty, fragrant and savory. We also got the falafel salad, which is a big helping of fattoush piled with three large and fresh made fried patties. I'm pretty picky about falafel, and these were about perfect. Crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside. With a scoop of creamy garlic sauce on the side they were drool-cup worthy. This meal too is a huge portion, being served with a small side of hummus and pita and fresh tabbouli. In short, we over ordered by a lot and left with as much food as we ate in the restaurant. If you're looking for fresh, authentic, and relatively quick Mediterranean food in the Franklin Park area of west Toledo, this is a sure bet. read more

Wow. If you're thinking of ordering dinner on a Thursday evening, you should know that their menu isn't accurate. The special was listed as Grape Leaves and Hummus. Unfortunately, you don't get hummus with your order of Grape Leaves and Hummus. So, thinking they had just neglected to include something in my order (Covid, curbside, it happens), I called to ask about it. The woman who answered the phone told me that hummus only comes with the lunch portion. I looked at the menu online again. I told her that it was listed as hummus and grape leaves in two different places on the online menu. She said, "I can tell you from working here that it only comes with the lunch portion." I pointed out that, not being an employee, I would have no way of knowing that. She then began YELLING at me, saying she would tell the manager to change the menu, but she couldn't change it. I was stunned into silence. First they cheat me, and then they're rude? Oh hell no. Next time I'm wanting Lebanese food, I'm going to Sidon. I'd suggest you do, too. Tried the falafel salad, which is a combo of falafel, hummus, tabouli, and fatoush, since it would allow me to sample a variety of items (and when they're made well, I love all of these). The fatoush was excellent: fresh vegetables, tangy dressing with a tickle of herbs. Hummus was very creamy, but some additional garlic and lemon wouldn't have hurt. Falafels were crunchy crisp, but had a fryer oil aftertaste. Tabouli was quite salty, to the point where the parsely and lemon were drowned out. No complaints about the service. Setting is a bit more subdued, cafe-like than a lot of the small middle eastern places in the area. Might make a return visit if I start craving a fatoush, and the meat items I saw on others' plates did look worth a try. read more

I've gotten sides of chicken shawarma with garlic, and just large bowls of garlic (for homemade chicken) a bunch of times. I like the garlic better than Tiger Bakery's right down the street, because there's a bit more lemon in the Tiger Bakery toum than I like. The chicken shawarma is MUCH better than Shawarmaholic's in that it's real pieces of chargrilled chicken, vs the weird gristly Shawarmaholic bits. My only wish is that they'd use olive oil for the toum, instead of vegetable oil. I'd buy it a whole lot more often (and pay the upcharge, of course.) read more

Although I love the food here, I was extremely disappointed this morning (3-16-19 Saturday) when I arrived to get my lunch for the day. They state online and on the door that they open at 11 on Saturdays, I got there at 11:20 just to find their door locked.
