I still have high hopes for this establishment. It was very busy after I placed my takeout order and the confusion at the front began. After my order was completed and sat near the register for a good ten minutes and almost given to someone else twice, they said mine was ready and just came out. When the order was repeated to me, I didn't understand completely and when asked to repeat, I was told "I don't know". I regularly eat at the GLE on Monroe Street, so I think they are going through some growing pains being recently opened. I'll give it a few months and give it a try again... We tried out Grape Leaf Express from a friend's recommendation, and we were not disappointed! The food is delicious! Its very flavorful, extremely fresh, We had the chicken taweook, chicken shwarma, fatoosh salad, and hummus, all of which were very good. The garlic and cucumber sauces were also delicious. I highly recommend the fatoosh salad with grilled chicken! Simply amazing. The location is great and there's a lovely, spacious dining area to dine in. Finally, the staff was so friendly and helpful! We were passing through Perrysburg on our way to Cincinnati and decided to try Grape Leaf Express. We are from Toronto, Canada and are used to top quality Middle Eastern restaurants such as Paramount. Upon entrance, we were immediately pleased with the decor, appearance, and cleanliness. I wanted to take the lighting chandelliers home. We were greeted by the girl at the cash and ordered: 1. Beef, Chicken, Veggie kabbobs for 4 - These were absolutely delicious. The chicken and beef were cooked perfectly and still very juicy. The Veggie Kabbobs were packed with grilled onions.. amazing. 2. Fatoush Salad - this is one of the best fatoush salads I have had at a restaurant. The fried pita and veggies were fresh! 3. Kibbe - It's hard to beat your mom's Kibbe but this was very very good. Great balance of cracked wheat and meat. The olive oil was quality and very good with the Kibbe. 4. Grape Leafs - wow, i have to say these exceeded our expectations. The portions were absolutely massive... this is how grape leafs should be rolled. we ordered a dozen for the road. 5 Stars for exceeding our expectations walking in.. its nestled in a corner by a garage and the quality was as though we were on a lakeshore strip back in T.O. We arrived at our destination to find we only had one of the dinners We have called the location on 2 occasions and got no answer. The woman at the counter was very friendly. We recently moved back to the area after living in Fla. for 5 yrs. and we never had anything like this down there. I was so happy to discover the Grape Leaf Express right around the corner from where we live. I love everything we've had there. The salads are to die for, my husband likes the Chicken Shawarma and Chicken Tawook. I also love their rice. The restaurant is spotless and a nice comfortable decor. We eat there weekly. Chicken shwarma sandwich and platter were both good. Tabouleh was fresh and tasty. The beef and lamb gyro was especially good Then there was the baklava! We ordered this as carry out and the counter person was extremely nice The only downside was as much our fault as the website's, but be careful when calling for takeout. The yelp site was at the Perrysburg location and we used the link to access the menu. The person ordering didn't catch that the phone number listed was for the Toledo location. Bad for all concerned. I was outside in the freezing cold from 4pm until 8, playing a lacrosse game in the harsh wind, and all I could think was that I had to go to Grape Leaf for dinner afterward!! Their falafel is the best, and if you order the falafel salad, you get three patties, a large portion of each fetoosh and tabouli, and plenty of hummus to go with it. Go here! We were passing through on a coast to coast road trip and stopped nearby for the night. We found this restaurant as we often do, by looking on Yelp. This small casual style restaurant has an interesting menu of Mediterranean items. The staff and cooks were all friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. You order at the counter and pickup your food after a few minutes. Unlike some to-go restaurants, this one serves eat-in items on nice plates. Although it was evening we had the lunch-sized platters rather than the dinner sized plates. The was plenty of food for an average appetite on the platter. We shared a chicken shwarma and a beef and lamb katko(?) Both of which were very good; nicely seasoned and flavored from the grill. They came accompanied with nice salads and tasty garnishes and sauces. We had one of our platters with fries which were particularly crisp and delicious. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely come back. read more

Friendly staff and helpful for recommending gluten free menu items. My husband said the chicken Shawarma was just okay. I loved my grilled chicken Fatoosh salad (no pita chips for GF) and my son enjoyed his chicken and rice plate that he got. The chicken lemon rice soup is okay, very lemony (which doesn't bother me) but hardly any rice granule texture almost the consistency of apple sauce and chicken pieces were non-existent. Look, I live in the West Village in NYC, but i grew up in Toledo, OH and I'm a first generation Syrian. In short, I know food and I know Arabic food. Grape Leaf Express is as good as Arabic food gets in Toledo, in New York, or anywhere else for that matter. I love the Shrimp Kabab, but everything there is awesome. Prices are also very reasonable and the service is great. I will return every time I go back home to Toledo, as in my opinion this is the best in town! read more

I Love the steak shish kabob; get a generous portion of delicious rice and an amazing Greek salad. Today, I had the mixed gyro - delightfully delicious! My son loves their chicken shawarma - has had dinner and the sandwich. Even the chicken soups and french fries are delicious for those younger palettes! Veggie kabob and baklava are awesome.
