Great food. They mess my order up about 7/10 times. But other then that, this is a great place for some good chow.

Sign said seat yourself, so we did. Mattie, our server, answered all our questions and made recommendations. The pita was served 2 ways, fresh and fried. The grape leaves were hot and tasty. The tabooli was different from what we were used to, but still delicious. The beef kabob on rice was tender and season perfectly. The portions are large, plenty for sharing, and prices are very reasonable. Service was quick. The furnishings are a little worn, but we came for the food and we were not disappointed. We drove here on the way to Chicago and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the crushed lentil soup, which was so lemony and flavorful, very fresh and yummy. We also had the vegetarian grape leaves, which were served hot. They were oily and full of cooked tomato umami, with a lemon kick. I was stuffed after all that, but I also ordered a falafel salad, which was three very fresh and crunchy-on-the outside falafel balls with a ton of tabbuleh, way more parsley than bulghur and very fresh; silky hummus; and a lovely salad. My husband got a beef gyro which he said was "great." You can tell the cook really cared about the food and ingredients and the waitresses were kind. Would definitely come here again. read more

We are new to Toledo and Grape Leaf is quickly becoming a favorite! It is our go-to place for fresh, affordable takeout-- sandwiches are cheap and delicious, and the medium size of hummus & baba ganoush is perfect for sharing. Hummus tastes so bright with the perfect balance of lemon and tahini, and the baba is wonderfully smoky! For entrees, so far we've tried the chicken shawarma sandwich, beef gyro sandwich, falafel sandwich, and vegetarian grape leaves dinner. All so delicious! I love that the sandwiches are tightly, neatly wrapped in pita bread-- just perfect for eating on the go. One tip: if you're ordering medium or large dips for takeout, I recommend extra pita bread. read more

My husband and I had The Grape Leaf cater our wedding this past weekend and I could not have been more impressed. Arbid went above and beyond to ensure a professional, timely, and delicious wedding dinner experience. We chose the kabobs dinner option, and when I asked if we could upgrade to chicken shawarma for an additional charge, Arbid didn't hesitate to tell me, "of course" with no additional charge. I don't have extensive experience with Lebanese food, so I don't know how good Grape Leaf is compared to the other places in town. I just know that I love Lebanese food the way Grape Leaf makes it. I started coming here with other people years ago before I was adventurous enough to try the stuff with "weird" names. The menu said "Lebanese and American Cuisine" on the cover, and I was greatly relieved. Of course I ordered the "Famous Burger" with two patties. To my great surprise, it was epic, and from then on I had no complaints about coming here. Eventually, I started trying things like kabob and shawarma, and I haven't looked back since. I don't think I've ordered the burger here in 5 years or more. I am completely hooked on the hummus (or "hommous" depending on who you ask), which goes perfect with the pita (fresh and deep fried) that they serve while you wait for your meal. The rice is just awesome. The lunch meals come with hummus, yellow rice, and "house salad", but I usually ask to swap out the salad for double rice, which they do for free. There are a few more things to note about Grape Leaf. First, for an ethnic food joint, they are surprisingly kid friendly with several very good menu items perfect for the non-adventurous American kid. Second, The party platters are amazing; perfect for take out, or a table full of people who don't know what to order. And third, you have to try a smoothie from their "liquid health bar". They make amazing fruit drinks out of mango, papaya, strawberries, etc. The service has always been what I'd call "laid back"; not bad, but not snappy either. Just don't come here on a day when you're in a hurry or you may be frustrated. Plan to take your time and enjoy yourself. read more

I've eaten many a beef gyro here and love them. Although it isn't the typical gyro meat cut from a spit, it's still pretty tasty and I love how they wrap it up making it easy to eat. Baba ghanouge, hummus, tabbouleh, are all good. I love their fattoush and they always give a large amount as well. I wouldn't ever order the children's mac n cheese here because it just appears to be from a box and too pricey for the quality. I don't care for the rice and any other thing I've ordered has been unimpressive. I think this restaurant serves very chain like food overall and for that reason I give them three stars. read more

This is a pretty good option, but I just can't get over how they use cheap rice and ultra thin and flavorless pita. Rice is a good indication of how good an Arabic place is, and the rice here definitely isn't Arabic, but the lentil soup is great. Grape Leaf actually deserves a 3.5, but once again Toledo has overrated this place. The food is decent, but nothing extraordinary which allows them to be better than the rest. I will give them props for having olive oil on the tables (hint hint: Beruit should learn from this) and for also using lemon juice in their dressing. Many other competitors are using vinegar, and I think that the lemon juice lends to better flavor. I have to wager that the gyro meat is beef based, with little to no lamb. I have tried a dinner combo before, and the meat and rice simply lacked flavor. Grape Leaf strikes out with service. Many of the employees appear to be inexperienced and distracted. Also their Greek salad contains canned beets for those of you who find them repulsive as I do. read more

I really wish there were a little more atmosphere here. Maybe music ...it was so quiet I felt like I should whisper . The food was okay. The grape leaves were good besides needed They could've been served with Lemon It seemed a little American-ish and there was no lamb. It's a little far from my apt downtown so unless I'm in the area I probably will not go there again. We have a group of 14 long time neighbors that go out several times a year and try various restaurants. We were here last night and were able to use their private room. It was great to be able to carry on a conversation with the whole table. the food was great, plenty of it and the waitress did a great job. Almost everyone took home food. Let me start out by saying ... l've only been here for lunches, but it was on three different occasions and each of the three occasions provided a consistent experience. The food was pretty good. Not average, not great... just pretty good. Each time I had something different and each time the food was tasty but small in portion. For example, I've never before seen a Gyro that could have almost passed for a Taco Bell bean burrito - long and lean and it was a chore to find the meat inside amongst the onions and veg. Basically I was eating an onion sandwich with Gyro meat. But I'm assuming that my Gyro simply was made a little off recipe. My main issue with GL has been the ungodly slow service each time I've been in. It's like one server is in charge of serving the entire place during lunch. Each time I've been in I've had to clean off the seats before sitting and wait for the able to be wiped down as we're sitting. And each time it took forever to get anything more than our drinks put in front of us. And, having peeked, it was clear that the server wasn't exactly waiting on the kitchen, either. The second time I was in there a group of 4 on a work lunch just got up and left having only gotten waters and about 6 "Sorry, I'll go check" updates. All in all my experiences have been 2 star lunch service with 4 star eats, easy to get to location and positive word of mouth. Based on the potential of the menu - which is substantial - and the overall tasty nature of the food, I'm averaging it out to 3 stars. So disappointed in our visit tonight....service was very slow, despite not being busy, and when finally served, everything was cold. The salads were just saturated in dressing that was inedible. I'm from out of town but whenever I am in town I make sure and visit this place at least once or twice. There Hummus is amazing! I am so used to store bought and the difference is noticeable. My recent visit I had the grilled chicken hummus...it was delicious. Portions are on the larger side and price is just right. They serve complimentary chips and pita bread while you wait for your order. Service was a little slow this visit as they were training some new wait staff. Overall good experience. read more

My expectations were a little high for the Grape Leaf after reading the reviews. I was expecting a little more authentic especially when it came to the rice. So if you've been to the Middle East recently, don't expect that you'll be eating the same. It was certainly more Americanized than I had hoped. For a little diner in a strip mall this IS as good as it gets. A lovely Greek salad, huge entrees (all good, we've tried several) with kind service and pleasant atmosphere. When the waiter noticed my husband tasting our fellow diner's soup, he brought hubby his own small bowl free of charge. Nice touch! read more

An out of town friend suggested we meet for lunch there on a Saturday. We got there right when it opened. The atmospheres was relaxed and we never felt rushed. I had a small Greek salad which was fresh and crisp with dark green lettuce and homemade tangy dressing that enhanced the salad without being overpowering. I've never had chicken shawarma so I decided to try it and ordered a sandwich. It was wrapped in homemade pita that was delicious. There was a small amount of tangy sauce and 3 thin slices of dill pickle the enhanced the great flavor of the chicken. My friend had grilled chicken with hummus. Not a bad Mediterranean place in the Toledo area! The servings are huge, atmosphere is comfy, and servers are attentive. I am pretty particular with my food and all was well on my plate and the plates of the others that were will me. I ordered lemon rice soup with my dinner and it was on the salty side for me, why it gets 4 stars, but others in my party had a salad that look fresh and well dressed. I'd recommend again - just go with the salad. read more
