I got half a dozen of the spinach and cheese tamales. They were good, however the salsa was very watery and the tamales were much thinner than expected, maybe the width of two fingers, which caught me by surprise. As a Mexican- American who's territorial over their families tamales like every other Hispanic family, these tamales are amazing! The owner was standing on the street corner passing out "samples". These samples were full tamales hot and fresh. I love the jalapeño chicken and cheese one it's so yummy. My baby ate his first tamale here and loved it. Their family story behind the tamales is so special and makes you feel at home. I'm picky about tamales but these are moist, flavorful, and full of love. I live in SA and have had some good tamales at several places. But I'm originally from CC and every time I'm visiting around the holidays, I always order from Granny's. Brought 2 doz pork/beef, a chicken, and a jalapeno cream cheese. All were excellent, just as I remember. It's not an eat-in place, only take out & the pick up area is very small, only room for 5-6 people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait outside til the line shortens. If you want Christmas tamales, Order them in November since after Dec 1, they sometimes don't take orders for Christmas Eve. read more

I've been craving tamales for some time now and saw that these were "the best in town" so decided to give it a try. I should have known better when I saw they "offered" salsa. If you need salsa for your tamales then there's something wrong. We ordered pork and jalapeño with cheese. They are so skinny and with very minimal filling inside. No vale la pena. The jalapeño ones ...I didn't see any jalapeños at all...so not sure if they were molido or what. read more

The tamales are pretty good, but not having a separate line for online order pickups is ridiculous. Also, they didn't bag them ahead of time, so you wait after you finally get to the front of the line. 20+ minutes for a pickup order is unacceptable. Also, there was no sign indicating that everyone goes to the same line so you have to ask. The woman with the tattoo on her neck was pretty rude about it as if it made sense to do it that way. I hate to update my review and give them a lower rating, but I was disappointed eating this meal. The only reason they're getting three stars and not two is because of the fresh red salsa. The salsa was so delicious! Let's get to the tamales. What a disappointment. The masa was lacking in flavor and the tamale itself had more MASA than meat. I will no longer buy tamales from here. The quality has gone down tremendously. The customer service was subpar as well. I wasn't even greeted and the worker was not even wearing a mask. If I could give no stars I would. These tamales are so far from authentic it's pathetic. I ordered a half of dozen of chicken tamales, when I was at the farmers market and I was very disappointed. They make their chicken tamales with ground chicken . I understand trying to make a profit but these things were disgusting and so skinny. I will never eat here again and I wasted my money buying these things. I wouldn't feed these things to my dog, I am so disappointed, how is this place even open at this point. read more

Ive been ordering from this place every year for our Christmas party for the last 5 yrs. You can tell that the quality and taste gets worse every yr. This year the tamales were dry, stale, and smaller. The filling is so grind that you can't tell what is it. It's some time of mystery meat. At $15 a dozen, these tamales need some justice. And the service feels like they are doing you a favor. I would recommend that you get your tamales from places you can tell what the filling is and where you can have some filling instead of just masa/dough. I was in OTS last Friday and stopped by. At first glance it was just a holding room but the young lady that attended was sweet natured and helpful. I bought a dozen beef, a dozen chicken, and a dozen spinach and cheese. The tamales were good, somewhat on the smaller side. The masa was tasty and I was left licking my fingers. The prices are good for the OTS location and this little place has their production down to a science. I will go back. read more

Hidden location in Old Town Spring. Need to look for the sandwich board on Main Street. My son recommended it as he just had it for Christmas, so I took a drive over to check it out. I got the non-spicy pork and beef and tempered the heat with the red and green salsa they provide. Excellent hand made tamales which they prepare elsewhere and transport to this location so there is always the chance or selling out. Very greasy from the lard the way it should be. One half dozen will fill you up. Really captures the yellow corn flavor in the masa. My grannie made Filipino lumpia, but if she was Mexican, I'm sure she would approve of this. very disappointed this time, I don't know if the recipe changed or i've just found better that put these to shame.. but man. the chicken inside the tamale was very mushy, I couldn't even tell it was chicken and it tasted like ground beef. they now remind me of the tamales they used to serve for lunch in public school with ground beef. eerily similar as the ones I ordered were supposed to be chicken. $14 for a dozen???? no thanks never again. thankfully I can tolerate ground meat so I still finished them & the overall flavor wasn't *that* bad.. read more

Disappointed is an understatement....I honestly don't know how Houston has let them get away with this for so long. The tamales are as skinny as taquitos. The line of meat inside is about the width of a pencil--or skinnier. The masa is all you really get, and to add insult, it's unseasoned. Simply put these are amongst the worst tamales I've ever had and such a rip off. You get a dozen but 3-4 of them would equal one regular Tamal. I opened one and it rolled out. Yes ROLLED....bc remember it's taquito size. It's so embarrassing lol. Then they give you 2 sauces for a dozen. Needless to say I'll never go here again. I was in Old Town Spring enjoying some good friends and good beer at Excalibur Brewery and was looking for something for dinner. After a quick Yelp search I was heading to Granny's. I walked up to the small trailer like building and an employee was sitting on the steps enjoying the beautiful afternoon shortly before closing. She still had several types of Tamales in stock so I got a half dozen of mild chicken for $7. She also added a couple of sauces for dipping. The tamales were so good they didn't even need the sauce but I found myself still dipping bites because the sauces were just as delicious. Next time I'm in Old Town Spring I'll have to pick up a couple dozen to bring home. read more

My first few visits were not bad. But I didn't like they say they are home made when there not! You can see and taste that there not, but whatever right. I got upset when I ordered a dozen and half had no meat it in. I can get one or two nobody's perfect, but when you miss almost the whole dozen then it's a machine. Also the counter lady told me the pork was not full pork, bc it's too dry that no one makes full pork tamales. What are you crazy? My mom and my grandma did it for years and I watch them get made. I haven't been back since the no meat tamales issue. There not bad just make sure your tamales have meat they are too pricey to get home and realize your machine missed adding meat. read more

Small little gem hidden in the corner of Old Town Spring. Excellently tamales. You can get warm tamales to eat right away or cold/frozen tamales to take home for later. The red sauce that comes with the tamales is excellent. The tamales are not thick with masa, just the right amount meat and seasoning. Definitely worth a drive to Old Town Spring. They do not offer a dining area but there is a picnic table outside that you can sit and enjoy your warm tamales. read more

These are the tiny Tex-Mex tamales. Ground meat, not pulled meat. I can fit two of these in a snack size Ziplock, yet they're charging $7 for a half dozen. The main positive thing I have to say about this place is that the tamales are HOT and packaged nicely in foil so they'll stay warm all the way home without needing to be reheated. Also, the tamales inexplicably come with red and green sauce that made me wish I was getting tacos instead (putting sauce on tamales is definitely a Tex-Mex thing because we don't do it that way on the border). read more

Granny's Tamales has 3 locations. I personally go to the one in Old Town Spring because it is closest to me. We usually drive 30 min one way to get their tamales they are that good. If you want to make sure the have the flavors you want I suggest calling a day early and they will put your order to the side. I have been trying to pick my favorites flavor from their tamale choices and can't! Every flavor I try is really that good and fresh! I highly recommend when you go to buy several dozen because your gonna want to freeze some for later! read more

I'm sorry I dont have any pictures to post, however, this place is goooooood!!!!! My husband is from the valley so we were looking for some decent tamales over here. We found the orginal location in Humble and decided to try it. To be honest I didn't really have high hopes that he would like it very much...but to my surprise he did!! The only bad thing was at the time we lived in Tomball so we didn't want to drive to Humble every time we wanted tamales. Then we discovered the Old town spring location and it became our tamale spot lol we moved to Huntsville a year ago but still drive over there to get tamales, like I said there so good, delicious in fact,we always get the spicy pork and beef mixed and sometimes(cuz of me) the chicken, cheese and jalapeno. My 11 year old who doesn't "like" tamales even loves them!!! And the lady who works there is always super friendly. They are your classic south texas tamales, kinda like his grandma used to make.
