I used to come here often for the donuts. They were always fresh, even late in the day. The last few times I've visited, though, they haven't been as fresh. They weren't stale, but they just didn't taste the same and weren't as soft as they used to be. On my most recent visit, I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, and it didn't taste very fresh either. The croissant wasn't flaky or very soft, although the ham and cheese filling was tasty. The price has also gone up. They're now $5 each, which is more expensive than similar croissants at other local donut shops. Customer service remains good. read more

I was very disappointed by the merchant's lack of understanding when an autistic individual was experiencing a meltdown. Instead of showing patience and compassion, they were told they had to "get out." An autistic meltdown is not a tantrum or something easily controlled. Businesses should show more awareness, empathy, and respect toward individuals with disabilities. read more

The absolute BEST cake doughnuts in the Alhambra area. The service is always so personal and the ladies are so sweet. I picked up a mixed dozen and two dozen of doughnut holes. My fave is the cake with chocolate frosting and peanuts. Location is easy to find but a tad of a snag to get in to. Parking at times is cramped but opens up pretty fast. read more

I'm sorry but these donuts suck on early Saturday mornings. For the last few weeks our coworker will bring in donuts from this place, he must be there around 6am or so. ALL those early Saturday donuts from this place are nasty and it's the OIL. The oil tastes rancid. I have never been one to decline or throw away a day old donut but these aren't old and stale, they are rancid tasting and into the trash it goes. Granny's please do better, change your oil. I love small donut shops for this reason. Everytime I come in the women are quick to help and super nice. Their donuts are soooo good, other shops have major competition. I go to school at CalState LA so it's really close by, literally across the street. It's nice to have good food options so close to the school. My favorite place to get holes when I'm in near the Cal State LA area, Granny's is an old school mom and pop shop where the regulars go in to grab a coffee in a styrofoam cup and a claw or twist and a lottery ticket. As much as I love those $3-$4 "artisanal" donuts that are popping up all over LA, I still love good old-fashioned pink box donuts that have been made from the same recipe for decades. Granny's cake donuts are some of the best I have ever had! I just ate one this morning. It was small and slightly crispy on the outside but perfectly light on the inside. I am not sure how much a single donut costs here, but I bought 4 dozen and 1 croissant and my total was $39, so I am guessing a dozen donuts costs around $9. I've been craving donuts for a solid week. I didn't want a $5 overpriced and overly complicated donut. No. I wanted a simple but tasty donut. My brothers directed me to Granny's Donuts and I am so glad they did. We ordered a dozen donuts plus a few extras and some Thai teas (apparently the Thai teas are fireeee.) I loved the donuts. My personal fave is the simple glazed twist or round donut. We dropped by around 5 pm and there were still tons of donuts on display. I was scenically of afternoon donuts but they seriously tasted so good and I could tell they were not hot out of the kitchen. They have alllll the different kinds of classic donuts you could want. Maple bars, old fashion, glazed, powdered, jelly/custard-filled, Apple fritters, bear claws, and so on. The Thai teas were also not bad! I'd recommend if yo my have some too for more sweets after your donut. I am so happy my brothers tipped me off about Granny's Donuts. It's not overly popular right now, but I have a feeling it's going to blow up. read more

The customers were coming in and out of this popular little shop. I bought a chocolate cake donut, bear claw and a big Ham, Cheese, and Jalapeno croissant and all of them were very fresh tasting. This is an unassuming place near CSULA. After reading all the rave reviews, I decided to stop here to pick up some donuts for a meeting I had today. I also ordered an apple fritter for myself. The apple fritter was surprisingly fresh. It was noticeably better than the apple fritter sold at Starbucks. Granny's Donuts isn't much of at all in presentation. It's far from being hip and trendy. The shop shows wear and tear with dated decor. The glass display can use some cleaning. But the qualify and taste of its donuts are blameless. read more
