Extremely unhappy with the service here. We purchase Italian tile from this store several years ago for a deck project. We then recently decided to use the same tile for an adjoining room. My wife brought in an extra 24x24 piece of the tile from the deck project and asked if we could order more. My wife told Roberto that we had purchased the tile several years ago and asked if he could identify it. After examining the tile, Roberto told my wife the tile was Tailormade Grigio, and that it was discontinued. He then (in front of my wife) called the vendor and determined that they still had some leftover stock on hand. We then had our contractor order the tile through Roberto. Our contractor was supposed to pick up the tile at Granite Center a couple weeks later, but every time he called, the tile was not in yet. Eventually, and as the delays were stalling our project, our contractor agreed to pay a $150 delivery fee to have Roberto's people fetch the tile from Roberto's vendor in Compton. The delivery was five hours late, and when it arrived, it was the wrong tile!! Wrong thickness and wrong color. I immediately called Roberto and he lamely said it was just a normal variation between lots. After I sent Roberto a picture, he admitted that we had received the wrong tile for our project. He told me that we should have ordered Tailormade Negro. However, Instead of apologizing for his error (mistakenly misidentifying the tile my wife had originally brought in), Roberto blamed my wife. He said that my wife had come in with a "sample board" for the Grigio and asked if he had more. When I told Roberto that we had no sample board, just a piece of unmarked tile, he said that she must have brought in "a picture of the sample board." (She did not.) Roberto told us that he would charge us a 25% restocking fee to correct the error and that we would have to pay another $150 delivery fee to have him deliver the correct tile. I eventually loaded the 400lbs of Grigio tile into my car trunk and (looking like a low rider) drove it to Compton, where Roberto's vendor very courteously made the exchange for the Negro with no "restocking fee" or any other charges. After making the exchange, I asked Roberto to refund the $150 delivery fee that he charged us for delivering the wrong tile- as I ended up doing the delivery. He refused, and instead once again blamed his error on my wife. Really a shameful way to run a business. Mistakes can happen, but when they do, you own up, apologize, and you make it right. You don't try to make additional money from the mistake, and you don't make up a story to blame your customer. read more

I was a little hesitant to use Granite Center on my remodel after reading the ONLY post on here, but I had several different people personally refer me. I am so glad that we stopped in. The showroom is large and offers lots of mock kitchens and baths so that you get an idea of what it looks like. The staff is knowledgeable and very courteous. You get that small business/family owned feel. Roberto came out to give us an estimate on kitchen cabinets and a bathroom remodel. We had already shopped around, let me tell you, his prices could NOT BE BEAT. Sure you can find some cheap products and pre-fabricated junk put together by an unlicensed guy, but he was using custom made products fabricated and installed in-house. The cabinets were stained to the exact color we were looking for and the granite work is the best we have ever seen, I can't find the seam! The bathroom looks completely different, I now finally have a bathroom that looks like it came out of a magazine. I got our kitchen remodeled with Roberto at Granite Center. He was professional, gave us great ideas and option to fit within our budget, patent when we couldnt make up our mind on the color of the quartz. Then his after installation support was excellent. He personally came out to help us adjust little things on the kitchen cabinets and to show us how to clean the quartz counter tops. The results were excellent and finished on time in a very tight schedule. Now the kitchen is the focal point of the house and we always get complements when we have guests over. If you want a job that's done WITHOUT attention to detail, this is your place! Let me start off by saying that the price for their materials are actually very good. Perhaps they were well priced because we decided to use them as our contractor. When we first came in to Granite Center, my mother and I were just looking for new countertops for our bathroom. After looking around and seeing a tile we really liked, we decided to let Roberto come in to do a free estimate. He showed up 15 minutes late for our appointment but we figured that's what contractors do. He gave us a reasonable price and a reasonable time frame of 1 week to put in a new shower (including new shower pan and shower head), new floor tiles, new countertop for our vanity, and a new sink with faucet. Granted, our bathroom is quite small but it only took Roberto's "best worker" to complete the work in 3 days. That would've been great if it weren't for ALL the hiccups we encountered along the way. 1) Every day the workers came anywhere from 1-2 hours late. I literally called the office every morning to find out where they were. By the way, the only good worker there, David, no longer works there. 2) The original shower head was placed at about 5'5". When Roberto had come in he specifically noted that the shower head was too low. He said I could choose any shower head I wanted and they would work it out. I just had to go in and pick it out and they would adjust the shower head so it would fit an "average" person. I chose a shower head that apparently was not made for my shower. No one seemed to mention that detail to me until after they decided to drill a hole into the wall and place the shower head at about 4'11" high. I kid you not. This shower head was now LOWER than where the original shower head was. I'm 5'1". You can imagine how amazed I was to find that I could no longer stand up straight to wash my hair in the shower. When we asked the worker what happened he said that Roberto told him to put it at that height. It would be nice if Roberto actually showed up once in awhile to the working site to make sure things were going smoothly. 3) When we told them they had to fix it, they tried to do a cheap work around by buying an extender. The extender did not even match the color of the shower head. Besides that, that they still couldn't put the shower head straight in my shower. I had purchased a shower head where the height was adjustable-this happened to interfere with the knob. I'm not a contractor I was not aware of these issues, nor was I told NOT to purchase something like this. 4) When I tried to call Roberto, he was nowhere to be found. Instead he had his younger brother answering his phone calls. And when I told the brother that Roberto was supposed to be at my house two days ago and I had not heard from him, he had the audacity to say, "Oh yeah, well we haven't heard from you!!!!" Considering I was calling them everyday, you can imagine how surprised I was by that comment. I snapped photos of the situation and I drove straight down to the place which is the only way you can actually get someone to call Roberto. 5) Roberto came the next day and had Jorge (the worker) fix the shower head. He also told him to re-grout the floor since it was cracking. Well, Jorge never re-grouted. He said he would be back--didn't happen. I ended up calling someone else to do it. Guess what that person found? My tiles were shifting!!! 6) ALSO there was a new ticking sound that was coming from my toilet whenever I turned on the hot water! After doing another attack at the office, Roberto came back. 7) My favorite part of all this is Roberto shows up and says, "Jorge did a great job! You're not looking at this as a whole picture!" I'm sorry. Last time I checked, a good job doesn't have cracks, shifting tiles, and new noises! Also when I confronted him about not sealing the grout, he said, "Oh, we don't do that." That doesn't sound like completed job to me! And when he came up with a theory for the new noise in my bathroom, he said that it was probably a nail hitting one of my pipes. I don't know about you but that sounds like a potential leak. He tried to tell me that there's no way no to tell where the pipes are in the bathroom. WOW. 8) I found out later that my sink could do a full 180 as well as my faucet because they didn't seal it properly. If I could say one thing about these guys, I would say, "RUN! I would not use them again and I would not recommend them. Roberto was impossible to get a hold of. Workers were short on material two days in a row. Work was not completed for several days after it got started. Granite Center was unaware or didn't care that the job was not finished. We used them a while back. Their prices were reasonable but then I learned that you get what you pay for. They did 3 bathrooms for us and the granite counter tops had a seam split in the middle (it was not one whole piece of granite) it was not something I thought I'd have to ask -i just assumed the counter top would be 1 piece. I feel I should have been informed and given the option -I would have paid more $$$ if that was the case that they were trying to just save their costs and not buy a larger granite slab. One of their workers also took some of our brand new shower hardware that was not used and some of the floor tile accents that were left over that we had purchased on our own -he just assumed he could take these things that were not his thinking we wouldn't notice!. We asked the owners to have him bring it back to us and he did but how disappointing -just makes you worry about who is in your home. The other thing the workers did was flush extra grout material down our toilet. Irresponsible! The other problem we had is our shower upstairs started leaking to our downstairs through the ceiling. Somehow the shower was not well sealed. Roberto came back to fix it and it was ok for a few months but started leaking again and we hired someone else to fix it. In general I think they take a lot of shortcuts. if you want high quality and things to last long term better to go elsewhere. They did a good job tiling our floors and walls so I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Believe me, he had to have patience to work with me... :-) My husband and I were doing a major renovation and we visted the Granite Center to install the Flooring in our home. We decided to go with Laminate. Granite center had a large selection to choose from. What made this installation so difficult is that our funding was coming from Escrow. That meant lien waivers, etc had to be submitted. Roberto worked with us on this issue. THANK YOU! My installation was completed this week and the flooring looks fantastic. The project was installation of 762 square feet of laminate flooring in three rooms and repair of a section of water damaged lath and plaster. The house is a 1924 bungalow. I did not research prices, but for high quality 12.3 mm laminate and installation I think that was a good deal. In general: the salesman/project manager, Roberto, was friendly and helpful in selecting the flooring. He did not pay sufficient attention to the details of the installation. Consequently, multiple return visits, inconvenience and annoyance resulted. The installers made some craftsmanship errors and did not ask questions about how I wanted slightly unusual things handled. The specifics: 1. There were video cables that had previously been installed in two rooms by drilling holes through the floors. This allowed them to be pulled out or pushed into the crawl space to adjust length. Roberto should have discussed with me how to deal with them. Rather, the installers bent them over under the new flooring to get to the edge then folded them over with a notch cut in the quarter round to get them out. This crimped them in place so that the length could no longer be adjusted. I had pushed them into the crawl space to get them our of the way, so that was the length they left out. Less than a foot! Not very useful. I was there, so they could have asked. When I discovered what they had done, we were unable to discuss what I really wanted because of the language barrier, so I had them do it over with more cable out. Now much more than needed. Over ten feet in the living room! (There were more problems related to the repair that I won't go into. I ultimately decided to cut all the cables. Good riddance DirecTV!) 2. They did not glue down the thresholds to the linoleum in the other rooms properly. One of them broke loose. When Roberto came out to do it correctly, he smeared adhesive across the laminate. It extends more than an inch out from the threshold and, though clear, is very visible in the sun light. I have not spent the time scrubbing all of it off yet. I told him about it. As I remember he did not apologize. 3. There was a folding door between the new flooring and the linoleum that was staying. Rather than ask me what I wanted, they left the bottom bracket in place and cut both the threshold and laminate around it. Removal of the door for painting tore the threshold loose. Permanent removal of the door, which I decided to do, required replacement of the threshold and part of the laminate in a way that was not how it would have been done in the first place. 4. Some 4" inch base board had been removed before the installation because of water damage. I did not expect the installers to replace it. It was obvious that it would need to be replaced when the final repairs were made. They installed the quarter round anyway. Again, failure to attend to detail resulted in more frustration for me. 5. The repair of the wall consisted of slapping a piece of dry-wall into the hole without finishing it to the plaster. I was then told that they did not do wall repair. A detail Roberto neglected to tell me about. He graciously refunded the cost of the dry-wall. 6. I had to call Roberto repeatedly to schedule repairs. Very unprofessional. You can check Yelp for some good reports and a much worse horror story. You might want to use them, but ask a lot of questions and then them like a hawk. read more

Context: I had Granite Center install two pre-fabricated Quartz countertops, one in my kitchen (L-shaped) and one in my bathroom. It was a small job, but important to me, and Granite Center very much treated it that way. Pros: Overall, I had a great experience with Granite Center, beginning to end. This family business is run by people who are knowledgable, honest, and patient. The counters look great, are even and level and well-cut. The price for the work was comparable to the other places in the area, but the customer service I found to be far superior, and that is why I chose to use Granite Center. In particular, I felt very comfortable and respected by everybody at Granite Center, which is unfortunately not always true for me as a young woman shopping for construction-related vendors. I orchestrated my kitchen and bathroom renovation myself, and during the process I had trouble deciding what I wanted to do. When I first entered the shop, Elie met with me and spent a lot of time and was very helpful guiding me through my ideas and did not push me to do anything, in fact he helped me stay with my budget and made recommendations that really helped solidify my plan. In the end, I went into the shop several times before committing as I came up with new ideas and as my project expanded. Every time Elie was patient with my indecision and helpful with new ideas. Once I finally committed, Roberto helped me to understand the installation process and patiently answering the many emails that I sent and questions that I had making sure that everything was going to be perfect. The installation team was quick, clean, and polite. I wanted everything to be perfect and when I noticed that something was a half an inch taller than I wanted it, I let them know and they said "no problem" and took it out and fixed the problem. Cons: I did not find their website very helpful, there is information on it that doesn't seem to be true to what then have in the store, so I recommend visiting the store instead of relying on the website info. I recently remodeled my condo's kitchen with semi-custom Waypoint cabinets, Ceasarstone counter tops, and a tile back splash from Granite Center. I found Granite Center to be professional, easy to work with, accommodating, and provided good pricing. I liked that Granite Center is not only a certified seller of Ceasarstone, but also a certified fabricator as well. While there were only a couple small items needing correction from the installation, they were handled quickly and without any hassle. I've had a couple different contractors that were in my condo attending to other work compliment the new kitchen as ask where I had gotten the cabinets and counter tops from so they could recommend it to other clients. I recently finished a total remodel, and am now enjoying the fruits of my labor and showing off my "new" home. Judging by the overwhelmingly positive compliments I have received, it is obvious that the most successful choice I made was the selection of the white macaubas quartzite countertops. This natural stone is so beautiful and durable, (a nice compromise between the softness of marble and the sometimes commonness of granite,) and I thank Roberto and his team for doing such a great job of taking it from just a slab I saw in a warehouse to the fabulous counters I now enjoy. They were very patient helping me to find just the right counters to make my white and gray kitchen blend seamlessly (see two photos on this site.) The Granite Center was timely and efficient, and I got what I paid for. I also purchased my bathroom vanities from The Granite Center and am very happy with the quality and results (see photos.) I give The Granite Center a zero rating. Seven years ago they came and redid my kitchen. Not only did it take eight months to complete because of numerous mistakes, the kitchen cabinets had to be repainted because of poor quality. Roberto was never around to check on things and there was always an excuse when major mistakes aros. The cabinets were not measured correctly and installation horrible. Cheap backstops for the cabinets and too many mistakes to mention. Now, the tile floor they installed is falling apart. Not only did they install the incorrect tile I chose, but now, seven years later, all of the grout is coming up and the tiles are all cracking. I had an expert come out today and he confirmed the workmanship was very shoddy. The tiles were not "buttered" correctly and too much water in the grout. I wouldn't ask this company to build a doghouse. Stay far, far away and listen to the other negative reviews. read more
