I visited the Popeyes located at 11850 Elam Road, Balch Springs, TX 75180--a store I frequent because it is close to my home. Unfortunately, the service I received during this visit was not only unacceptable but deeply disrespectful. When I entered the restaurant, I stood reviewing the menu. While I was deciding on my order, a drive thru customer walked inside and expressed frustration to the front counter employee, explaining that she had been asked to drive forward but had not received her food. The employee responded dismissively, leaning on the register and appearing uninterested in assisting her. Her demeanor suggested she might have been impaired, as she swayed and leaned heavily on the counter. When I approached to place my order, I asked the employee if she was having a good day. Her response was sarcastic and rude. When I asked how she was "helping me," she continued with an attitude. I then requested another employee, but the second employee did not attempt to take my order. I asked for the manager, who came to the counter but did not address the situation or the behavior. At that point, the front counter employee referred to customers--including myself and the drive thru customer--as "this bitch" and "their asses." I was shocked that such language was used openly in front of other employees and the manager, who did nothing to correct or discipline the employee. As I left the store, the employee again said "those bitches," and when I asked who she was referring to, she claimed she meant the other customer. This behavior is unacceptable for any employee, especially one representing Popeyes in uniform and on the clock. I also want to express that both the drive thru customer and I are Black, while the employees involved were Hispanic. The lack of respect, dismissiveness, and hostility we experienced raises serious concerns about whether bias played a role in how we were treated. Because of this incident, I had to drive 2.9 miles to another Popeyes at 9540 Lake June Rd, Dallas, TX 75217, where I received excellent service without disrespect or hostility. The contrast between the two locations was stark. I am requesting that this incident be investigated thoroughly. Customers deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism. No one should be subjected to verbal insults or discriminatory behavior in any establishment, especially from employees and managers entrusted with representing your brand. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing how this situation will be addressed.
