We recently had a leak in our second-floor bathroom, at our Duck N.C. Beach home, that collapsed…read morethe ceiling in the first-floor bedroom. The damage ruined the ceramic tile in the second- floor bathroom as well as the vanity and carpet. The first-floor bedroom, carpet ceiling, furniture, King size bed was also ruined. I called American Reliable Insurance first, then called Phoenix Restoration. Rick from Phoenix arrived within an hour and begin the remediation. This required putting in about 3 large humidifiers and pulling up the carpet. They also moved the furniture out and removed the drywall from the ceiling. I was happy to let Phoenix put a lock box on the house and begin work. American sent Jeff Finch the adjustor from White Insurance Adjustors, and he worked with Melinda Tomisser at American Adjustors to put together the claim. Pat Broom, who heads up Phoenix Restoration also came to the site. Pat, Rick and Stacy took charge and managed the entire process from beginning to end. We hired them to clean up and repair water damage in our home based on their positive reviews, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The initial cleanup team did a good job drying out our crawlspace--especially Lester. However, once the repair phase began under owner Gani Berisha, the experience deteriorated quickly. Communication was poor from the start. After the drying process, we waited weeks with little to no updates. When Gani finally visited, he seemed unfamiliar with the project and focused mainly on upselling upgrades because insurance was paying, even suggesting LVP flooring despite our home having hardwood. Once repairs began, communication continued to be difficult. We had to repeatedly request updates, which were often ignored or met with frustration. While we were staying in an Airbnb, we were suddenly given one hour to choose between two floor stain options--neither matching our original floors--and had received no prior notice that a decision was needed that day. When I called to ask about additional options or samples, Gani became irate and dismissive. Eventually, the subcontracted flooring company provided several proper stain samples, which resolved the issue. Throughout the project, the work felt rushed and we had to repeatedly point out problems that needed fixing. The project also ran later than promised. When we finally moved back into our home, we discovered several issues: one of our lamps had been broken, paint was on our Dyson vacuum, and one of the bathrooms had been left in extremely unsanitary condition. When we raised this with Gani, he told us he would submit another claim to our insurance company so we could receive a check to cover the damaged items, rather than his company reimbursing us directly. Overall, this was one of the worst contractor experiences we've had. Based on the poor communication, lack of professionalism, and how issues were handled, we would not recommend working with this company.

My wife and I own a house in Corolla, NC. Bluewater Restoration (BR) did a great job with the…read moredeconstruction, drying, and reconstruction. We are very pleased with the process and results. The house looked nice before the event, and it looks even better now and was reconstructed with consideration to FEMA guidelines should flooding reoccur. Corolla had 31 inches of rain from three major rain events in September and October 2016. We had a few inches of water on the first level after the second major rain event. I called BR, and they promptly were in the house to assess the damage. They rapidly did the deconstruction after the water receded and started drying the exterior walls. The wood was also treated with a biocide to retard microbial growth. My wife and I were at the house for Hurricane Matthew, and we had additional water intrusion to a level higher than the first event. BR promptly did a second drying. The first level was reconstructed with consideration given to materials and recommendations found in FEMA guidelines for homes that may be in a flood hazard area. Our house is X zone and not in a flood hazard, but 31 inches of rain saturated the ground and the runoff from subtle terrain elevation changes flooded several homes where we are. The house looks great and is better constructed to handle future events. This is always a very stressful situation for any homeowner. Bluewater Restoration made the process less stressful through their courtesy and professionalism. We are very pleased with the process and results.
