Just a heads up. It was my fault for not getting prices to replace a water heater and replace an outside panel box with 2 breakers. When I called I didn't ask and Wes didn't mention he charges a set price. When I got the bill it was higher than we thought it should be especially considering the amount of time the techs were there. So I contacted Wes and he said they have a fixed charge on the jobs. The water heater price was within reason but the panel box was $940 and it took about an hour to replace. That's seems a bit high. I assumed we'd be charged parts and labor. So lesson learned - make sure you get a quote beforehand. read more

I did a massive remodel of my vacation rental and lost 7 weeks of rentals due to the job not being finished on time despite the company having plenty of notice. I have had lots of issue like a leaky slider where water was pouring into the house when it rained and my very expensive Minka fans were not correctly installed and in fact many of the needed parts were thrown into the trash. While working on the floors they put my furniture including microfiber sofas out on the deck where for weeks they were subjected to sun, sand etc. I live in VA and wasn't able to be there for the remodel which I would never do again. I have more complaints I could add, but will suffice to say that I would NEVER hire them again. read more

Horrible!! Wes talks a great game, expert in his own mind but doesn't deliver. Tried over charging on his man hours by $6500. Cameras don't lie. Workmanship would've been better from a high school shop class. Window's still leaked, so I had a "professional" company install new windows and correct all the crappy makeshift repairs Wes's crew made. Complete waste of $15,000 I can never recoup. Let me add yet another 1 star review. Do NOT do business with KICZ - Wes Liverman. It sure seems that if you do, you will be disappointed. I ran a competitive bid for enlarging my pump house and fixing rotted wood on my beach house. The bid document clearly specificed the drawings for the enlarged pump house with a rear door. I paid in full, up front. on 27 Feb 25 with a verbal committment from Wes that everything would be complete mid-April. Mid-April came and contacted Wes. He said, "We will be done next week". Two more calls, two more promises (which were lies). Work was "done" on 7 May - but wait! The pumphouse had been slightly expanded, but not to my bid drawings and no rear door. Unless there is no one else on the planet to do your work, really, run away, go somewhere else. And the rotted corner did get done, but they didn't paint all of it. As required in the bid document. Incompetent. Poor quality. Very poor value. Run away. read more

The AC unit in the cottage we rented went out, and the realty sent KICZ to put in 4 window units. One of the techs was fine - very polite. The other had an attitude from jump, and started making snarky comments about how we'd lose weight sweating if we stayed in the heat. We ignored him. My dad asked him to tape around one of the units because there were large gaps, and the tech replied that he wasn't going to do that because he didn't have the time. Right after they left I checked the unit in my kid's room and realized it was plugged in, but wasn't working at all. He had to have known. So five stars - if you want to deal with attitude, be insulted, and have a half a$$ job done on even the simplest of calls. There's a reason they don't have a Google page for reviews, you can't leave reviews on their fb page, and all their Yelp reviews are one star. read more

Buyer beware. This owner will talk a good game and then try to overcharge. Kicz is Home Depot's only contractor in OBX so Wes came out to measure our kitchen for a remodel. While at the home, I asked if he did windows and consequently got an estimate for $30k for installing 14 windows and doors. This was for labor only and clearly substantially overpriced. At approximately $2k (labor only) for each install, I decided to get additional estimates. Two other contractors bid 1/2 and 1/3 the Kicz price. DO NOT TRUST this guy or you will pay, literally. Just a warning. Another note....Our Home Depot designer received a notebook hand drawn kitchen measurement from Wes that was so basic and unprofessional, I ended up having to send Home Depot measurements from another company so she could do her job. Two Kicz employees then came to my house unannounced for final measurements. The gentlemen asked when the install was and I said nothing was moving forward without an estimate first. Kicz ended up declining the Home Depot install of our kitchen (huh..that's odd...no estimate?). In all actuality, this was a good thing since they didn't want to provide the estimate or was clearly embarrassed by trying to overcharge us for the windows project. If the owner is the example of the companies ethics, I'd look somewhere else. Honest prices are not their MO and I can't imagine their work will be any less of a concern. I'd also recommend Home Depot reassess their relationship with Kicz. Good luck. read more

Buyer Beware! Quotes one price which I paid immediately after getting the bill. A week later I got a new bill for "extra work" which included among other things putting back plywood that had to be taken down to access the piping that was being replaced? A dryer vent cover reinstalled? This bill almost doubled the price of the job which wasn't cheap to start with. I should have checked some online reviews, seems I'm not alone. read more

KICZ Operations Manager, Mike Farr did not show for a scheduled appointment we made with him. After I called, Mike apologized and rescheduled for the following week. Next week, Mike was an hour late for the appointment. He looked at three projects, and stated he would provides us estimates. After a week I sent KICZ a note asking when we will get the quotes. Mike replied "It takes a little time to put it all together". It's been two weeks since Mike's visit, and still nothing. I've decided not to chase after KICZ anymore, and hire a different Company for our projects. read more

Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience to date with K.I.C.Z. Maintenance. I selected them out of three bidders because of the detailed estimate and scope of the project. That's where the satisfaction ended. There have been numerous delays due to mis-measurements of and ordering of wrong materials. What was originally estimated as a 5-6 day repair has now taken over 3 weeks (some weather delays admittedly) with significant repairs still pending and I've had to pull teeth to stay informed. OF GREATEST CONCERN: K.I.C.Z. crew stored their power tools and materials on brand new carpets and hardwood floors without any protective covering thus damaging newly updated room. Additionally, I arrived unannounced to my home to inspect repairs and found the K.I.C.Z. crew enjoying lunch at my dining room table on a floor where no interior access was anticipated for the project and having used 3 of the four bathrooms without any authorization. Where I come from this is called Unlawful Entry. They had apparently left the home unsecured for a minimum of 4 days showing a complete lack of regard and disrespect for my home, property, and peace of mind and violating any trust I may have expected. Lastly, the project scope has expanded well beyond my understanding, without my authorization or knowledge until I was provided pictures after the fact. I have never had anyone so callously decide to make decisions about my house and my money without a simple conversation to seek my approval. Eager to get this nightmare in my rear-view mirror. K.I.C.Z claims a trusted partnership on its website...there is zero trust from this client and I have had to resort to having independent inspections of my home daily to advise on whether anyone has been onsite and not permit anyone onsite without my supervision.
