The restaurant is clean and has a small bar. I loved how clean the restrooms were. Saturdays there is a happy hour option of some food items and drinks. The special Apple Cider Reposado margarita was good but we didn't taste any of the cider, just straight up tequila but it was good. You can also order margaritas in passion fruit, mango, strawberry, and hibiscus flavors. They get extra points because of the passion fruit flavor. The complimentary chips were okay, but the salsa stood out, it had an authentic/in house made flavor. For the main meals, everyone at the table was satisfied. We had an order of the shrimp and chicken fajitas, beef floutas and the salmon a la parrilla, grilled salmon topped with homemade mango salsa served with mixed green salad, rice & beans. The mango salsa was tasty but I didn't like how runny it was. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the restaurant itself looked clean and well-kept, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. I would come back and try a few other items on the menu. The online menu is a bit different from what we had in person, I didn't see the mussels on the menu given to us in the restaurant. Happy Hour is from 3-7pm. This is a solid spot for a casual night out with friends for good margaritas, authentic touches, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Tried this place a few weeks ago with my girlfriend…read more I had a fantastic milkshake (the Monster Ink with Oreos and chocolate chip cookies) while my girlfriend opted for the Rainbow Road rolled ice cream (with Fruity Pebbles) in a waffle taco. The portions were huge, the ice cream was tasty, and the presentation was great! The staff was kind and friendly and we appreciated being able to see our orders getting made. Be warned that this is not a place for a little treat - we easily could have split one rolled ice cream and been perfectly satisfied. The space was a little small with limited seating but it was very inviting all the same. Certainly hope to make it back very soon and try more of their menu!

So, creme roulee - rolled ice cream - was a dessert trend from over 10 years ago, but I have never…read moreheard of it. This style of ice cream originated in France. Rolled ice cream is made by flattening an ultra-thin layer of ice cream out and then rolling it up. See the videos I posted if you've never experienced it. The flavors of rolled ice cream that I tried are ube and blueberry. The blueberry had a blueberry puree on top. The ube was served with whipped cream and toasted coconut. Delightful. I only wish that I had a double espresso to go with it. The flavors of rolled ice cream that are most popular here, so far, are: 1.) Birthday Cake 2.) Strawberry Cheesecake, and 3.) Cookies and cream The team here was also passionate about the ube flavor. We also tried the strawberry yogurt shake, which was delicious. BTW, someone ordered a croffle and it smelled like a buttery breakfast. It is a croissant pressed into a waffle form. We *needed* to get one to share. They have many toppings, but if you're going to order this croffle for breakfast, the plain whipped cream (vs. the mango cream) is not sweet, but creamy and satisfying. The croffle is substantial and eggy. It is very surprising because it's hearty bite after bite. There are no light and flakey bites and before you know it, it's gone. You get your dollar's worth, here. It's a good breakfast. And you can dip the croffle into your house coffee which is even better. I also put some of the croffle cream into the coffee. The house coffee is made from a machine and tastes dark and sweet. Yum. I am wondering where else you would find this no-longer trending trend - of French rolled ice cream - in the DC area. I found 10 places on yelp but only 3 mentioned rolled ice cream in the search result descriptions. The staff here are friendly, informative and patient. The environment is simple, yet elegant. A definite new texture and flavor adventure was found here, to be sure. Thank you, Laurel!

They just need more veggies so that you can really have your way with the sauce. Skip the guac... it needs more avocado and flavor. The Tamal de Elote is also very yummy. Ate it too fast, forgot to take a pic. The service is great, there are plenty of waitstaff floating around. The parking lot can get crowded but there's plenty of parking across the street if needed. Ambiance is fun. It's super loud in the restaurant, partially because of the plethora of Happy Birthday performances with the instruments and all. Honestly, just join in the singing and clapping. Why not.

I looked at the menu ahead of time and my homegirl sent me pictures to confirm. This way I already knew what I wanted (flautas & passionfruit margs) I came in, sat down and waited for a bartender to acknowledge our look my way so I could order. I was able to get my order in just in time and informed them I'd need a refill before it was over. My flautas came out as two taquitos cut in half and I just laughed. Barely any lettuce piled on top with sour cream and salsa on the side. Really, two tortillas rolled around chicken and cheese. It was hilarious. It was just barely much food at all and I didn't want to try anything else so just asked for my refill. Check came and got charged full price. When I asked about it, I was given a smart response and told they wouldn't take it off again like they were doing me a favor or I was trying to get over SMH They're lucky that passionfruit marg was hitting or it would have been challenging to go back.

My friend and I split a dal and the spring dosa, both of which were delicious. Others at our table had the iddly , the lamb tandoori, and the mango lassi and gave them rave reviews. We were headed to Amber Spice for a late lunch, and fortunately, we made it in before the 2:45pm cutoff (I called ahead to check). Since it was almost lunch closing, they did request that we place our orders soon after being seated. We already knew what we wanted to order, so we didn't feel rushed otherwise. We started with the veggie samosas ($6, two pieces), which were served with the traditional tamarind sauce and spicy cilantro chutney. The samosas were packed with the potato and pea filling and had a lightly crisp exterior. They were as good as any. For my entree, I ordered the butter chicken ($20), which is served with a side of basmati rice. When ordering, the waiter didn't ask about spice level. I did find their butter chicken to have some heat to it, but it wasn't anything crazy - I'd say a 3/10 for spiciness - I felt the warmth. The chicken was super tender and moist. I would be happy getting this again. I also ordered the garlic naan ($5), because you have to have something to sop up the curry goodness. The naan was hot and fresh; you could also taste the garlic. One basket came with four pieces (one whole naan), which is perfect for sharing. I finished the meal with the gulab jamun ($6) for dessert which came with three pieces of the fried dough balls served in a sweet syrup. My friend ordered the mango kulfi and loved it! She described it as a mango lassi, but frozen, which made it that much more light and refreshing. Amber Spice is a casual dining spot and it has the service to match. We were brought a carafe of water for the table to start, so it was self-serve the rest of the way. Food was brought out quickly and plates were cleared at the end, but we weren't checked on during the meal. Perhaps since we arrived near lunch closing, service was winding down, but we got what we needed. I enjoyed the food here and would come again. Everything that we had was not only super tasty, but also reasonably priced. There's also plenty of parking in the shopping center.

We were celebrating my dad's birthday and our server brought out a sign that said "Happy Birthday Dad" for the occasion. He was kind and courteous throughout the meal despite also bartending at the time. The food was rich, but quite tasty. Everyone loved everything we tried - from the spinach dip appetizer to the various entrees. Everything was seasoned really well and cooked to perfection. My partner commented that the roast chicken was really moist and juicy. My sister got the fried chicken which was sooo crispy and packed with flavor. My salmon (pictured) was a hefty portion and really flavorful. Nearly everyone had leftovers, which definitely justified the pricing. If you like bread pudding, don't skip dessert! She said"the kitchen" messed up packing my order but instead of sending it back, she "fixed it". Honestly it seemed like she was trying to get me my food on time, but management should have been called to solve this problem and ensure I didnt leave the restaurant with collard greens missing all their juices. I didnt know what exactly happened with tje packaging, so since I was told the problem was "fixed", I took my food and left. The worst part was the deviled egg appetizer. Another casualty of the kitchen, apparently. It looked unappetizing when I got home and opened it, and the crab topping that I paid an extra $3 for gave off a very strong smell (reminiscent of the kitchen of a seafood restaurent) and also appeared wet. I'd guess they took crab straight from a can, put it on top of the eggs, and covered it with old bay seasoning. Very disappointing. Sadly these were not the only issues, as the collard greens themselves were bland and a little tough. There was also a wooden stick in my greens?? Not sure why. Although the catfish was fried well, that's the only satisfactory thing about this experience, and everything else ruined it.
