Found this stall set up in a parking lot near where I work. Smelled so good driving by, we had to try it out. I got the curry goat with jerk mac and cheese, plantains and cabbage plus a beef patty. My husband just wanted jerk pork and got a whole container of it. Meat was tender and everything was very flavorful and saucy. Beef patty was just what I needed. My husband order us the curry goat and I decided to get a chicken soup. The curry goat that we deicded to get was alright. The plantians were very dry , the cabbage didnt have any flavor and the curry goat was very spicy it was a bit unbearable to have. Clean place, very friendly owner. She even gave me a free bread dumpling. I got a large portion of oxtail with the jerk mac and cheese, definitely turned into a "cheat day", but was worth it! I also got a chicken patty. Patty was ok, standard patty, i overheard her say she gets them delivered. The oxtail was delicious as was the jerk mac and cheese, and got some plantains and cabbage on the side. It all amounted to 22$ and i gave 15% tip so 25$ total. I ordered oxtail with rice and peas, stewed chicken with jerk Mac and cheese, vegetable patties and red velvet cake. The oxtail had great flavor and so did the stewed chicken they gave you a good portion of meat not just bones. The jerk Mac and cheese was out of this world you can see the cheesy strings and the meet through all of the side. It was really amazing just writing this I want more! The rice and peas were flavorful as well and so were the platinos but that jerk Mac and cheese had my mouth watering! The vegetable patty was good with just the right amount of spices. They dish it up for you with generosity and kindness. Jerk chicken, rice and (pigeon) peas, cabbage, plantains, yum! Hearty honest grub at $8 or $12. Oh and if it's Saturday and fried chicken day, see if you can grab a piece of fried chicken also for a mere buck. They also have ox tail with the full plate o' food. Most seem to take out. I sat down and ate, among the kind owners/proprietors/family. Having gone solo to Eileen Fisher at nearby Woodbury Centre, I tried to eat afterwards at Shake Shack (Oh look! A Shake Shack nearby!) So near yet so far, the parking lot at Woodbury Common was FULL, MOBBED, etc so no way could I get out of my car for a Shake Shake meal. Yelp led me to "A Better Place Bar & Grill" which I drove to and it looked like a character-less bar in a semi-strip mall. No thanks. I checked back on yelp and headed further down the road to this joint. Am very glad I did. If you are a chowhound and appreciate good food prepared with heart, then go here. Customer service is not consistent. When the older ladies children are serving they are very friendly and welcoming. Food is good but they give small portions. The food is ready made and you can order at the counter and sit at the tables if you want to eat in. I ordered a large curried goat and my husband ordered a small curried chicken. The food was delicious. It was ready made but it was very fresh. Both dishes came with rice and beans, plantain, and shredded cabbage & carrot . Both the goat and chicken were very tender and moist. The cabbage was really delicious and the rice and beans were well seasoned & not mushy - just right. The plantains were sweet and not overcooked. The large was a lot of food so there was left over which is nice if you like left overs for later. The place was not fancy but clean and neat. The restaurant is very clean and offers a small and fresh selection of dishes on a daily basis. First thing I noticed when entering was how extremely cold the place was. My friend ordered escovitch fish with rice-n-peas cabbage carrots with fried plantains. The quality and quantity of the meals is worth the cost. Every dish is reasonably priced. The small curry goat was $10. It was a lot of food for $10. The fish was made to order. We waited about 30 minutes for the fish. There was a steady flow of customers in and out. Oxtail 2 times, I didn't enjoy it. It has no seasoning but it's cooked well. On another occasion I tried the soup and again no seasoning no flavor bland. So now I tried the stew chicken and again the food has no flavor. My family is from JA so I know what good Jamacian food should taste like and this is not it.
