A Happy Hour Hidden Gem in Dallas!…read more We took a day trip to Dallas to see the circus and decided to pop into a nearby bar for drinks and small bites. Parking was a challenge, but we opted for valet and, at only $10, it was totally worth it! We originally planned to check out Bar Eden for happy hour but accidentally walked into Paradiso, which is connected. Bar Eden is a little smaller and has more of an intimate, speakeasy vibe, while Paradiso has a gorgeous, lively atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the happy hour specials were perfect for afternoon drinks--cocktails under $10! The margarita was delicious, and the other cocktails were just as pretty as they were tasty. One thing to know: it seems there's only one restroom, so the wait can be lengthy. BUT once you get inside, you'll understand why...because it's basically a girl's dream photo booth! Definitely plan a little extra time for the bathroom selfies. We didn't try the food this time, but the ambiance and music were on point. The outdoor seating is beautiful and elegant, although it was way too hot for daytime lounging during our visit. Overall, I'd absolutely come back--especially for happy hour! Great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

We asked if we could pull up a chair to one of the tables on the patio (which was fully empty), and they begrugedly agreed. We sat down and waited. And waited some more. And then some more... After about 10 minutes my brother went up to the bar and asked if a server would be coming to take our order, and was told that they were busy (they did not look busy at all) but would get to us ASAP. Another 10 minutes went by and, as no one had still come to see us, we elected just to leave. They said nothing as we walked out of the restaurant. Aside from pulling up a chair on the (again, totally empty) patio, I have no idea what we did that could have made them so upset at us. The whole experience was really odd and super off-putting, particularly so as there was no communication at all from the wait staff.

After we drank them and asked for the check, we discovered that they had given us each a $35 glass of wine. That's a $70 check before any tip. Clearly, they just wanted to make money and take advantage of us. Especially for two young people who could not afford it at the time. I also just heard that they are kicking State Street Coffee out of their space with little notice and no explanation. That was the best part about the Alcove. Photos included of how they are mocking State Street Coffee on social media, by simply saying "oops". It's honestly just sad.

The Mulder burger was good but i was not a fan of their fries because they had a sour, vinegary flavor. I tried a sample of one of the cocktails, but it was too sweet for my taste, and I didn't find many cocktails options that appealed to me, so I ended up ordering wine instead. The service was very slow throughout our visit. My friend waited a long time for her drink, and our first waitress forgot to bring our water and disappeared for quite a while. The second waitress, who took over later, provided much better service.

And it's very bizarre to be happening from a pub/restaurant that I've never been to but recently discovered. I was wanting to come with my partner for date night tomorrow & wanting to try this place out. One of their bartenders reached out to me & doesn't understand why this happened. I even showed him screenshots of me being blocked. I was told that there was no need to block anyone. He was going to get to the bottom of this ASAP. Hopefully things can be resolved. Update: I got a very nasty threatening message from the event manager & mixologist their "Princess Laya"/ Aleiyah1219 or whatever her name is on IG basically telling me to stay away and that her entire staff knows who I am and will be on the lookout for me if I ever try to come in. I don't know any of these people and I don't wish to know them. I've also been blocked by this individual as well the young man named "Ethan" that I spoke to earlier about the situation. Was not aware that this other person worked here & it was really him that really blocked me. This facility just lost two potential customers. My partner & I will never eat or drink here ever!!! Update: I'm so sick of these people! Got a phone call from someone that works there w/ the GM on the line, but I blocked his number but they sent a very threatening voicemail! They think that I'm contacting different people from this facility on social media and I've never contacted anyone directly. They've actually contacted me through Instagram message as well as Facebook messenger. The only person that I had back-and-forth contact with was someone named Ethan, but that was like three weeks ago. The other two individuals I've never had any contact with they messaged me and I never contacted them!!! And how in the hell did the GM/event manager get my phone number? Cause now she's making threatening phone calls and messages!!! And I have the transcript to prove it. I keep getting Snapchat notification from her when I blocked her everywhere. Idk If she has my phone number under her contacts, but I certainly do not have her number. I've had to block her number because she left a threatening message on my voicemail. This woman is nothing more than a straight up, bully. Very satisfied to hear that she is no longer working there. from what I heard from a friend that she got into some altercation that where she was posting online crap about these customers and exposing them online and the customers had complained to get her fired. Can't treat people like crap and expect respect and entitlement. Good news to hear that she was dismissed.

I have only been to the Dallas bars a handful of times, but Skellig is easily one of my favorites…read more There are three main areas at Skellig which include the inside bar, the large patio, and the side patio. Most recently, we went to The Skellig the night after Halloween. It also happened to be Game 7 of the World Series where the Blue Jays tragically lost, but the game was still a high value product and Skellig had it playing on a huge projector screen that made it easy for everyone to enjoy. Inside it feels like your classic pub, but after hours it becomes a pretty traditional bar as people pack in and have a great time. All their drafts and specialty drinks are listed on their chalkboard wall and the bar sits perfectly in the middle with bartenders on all four sides which is perfect for a busy night out especially if it is Halloween, Game 7, or a night of great college football. The DJ was playing heaters all night with all the crowd favorites you want and it was crowded but not too extreme. One of my favorite features of The Skellig is the genuine Guinness on a nitrogen tap, poured the true Guinness way which creates a refreshing beverage you can split the G with or just chug. There is a lot of area to work with at The Skellig and it is nice that there is such a large bar in the middle of Dallas. RIYL: Pubs or hearing a lot of Drake at said pub
