I purchased a couple of Basquiat lithographs here recently and absolutely thrilled with Graffeo Leather Collection. I was walking in downtown San Carlos, and noticed they had a sign in front of the store which caught my eye. They are phasing out their art work and the lithographs were framed really well which made getting them a great value. Good little shop with a wide variety of cashmere, leather products and more! As with any store, caveat emptor. I would not try to shop here if you don't know what you're doing because indeed as mentioned by some of the other reviews there is a fair amount of stuff that is not quite worth the price. However, there are bits and pieces that are quite nice. I picked up a lambskin wallet for $60 and a 100% cashmere scarf made in Germany for $50. Both excellent quality and highly functional. Some of the other cashmere stuff they sell you might want to be careful with though because I noticed pilling. And some of their sweaters are 100% acrylic which is 100% hot garbage. Just exercise caution and good judgment and you should have a decent time overall! read more

Jim was a wonderful - attentive, friendly and patient. We were walking by and saw a super cute messenger bag. He came out and invited us into the store to look at more styles inside. My friend ended up buying two bags and a few pieces of art - everything was extremely reasonably priced and seemed of great quality. Things you need to know before shopping here Very aggressive sales approach, to the point of me actual wanting to leave. Was looking for a "Real" leather bag, brought in one that I wanted to replace due to the size was perfect for my needs. Found a bag "on sale" asked f it was real leather and was told yes...of course. Well it is not...went home and looked up the brand Joy Susan, and they only sell vegan leather bags. Was so annoyed by this was going to return it but the price I got it for was 50% off of retail which was correct. I am giving three stars due to the fact that it was a good price and I do like the bag...hopefully it holds up Just be prepared to say no thanks about a hundred times before you walk out the door read more

I was looking inside the store and the owner came by ,saw me, and let me in. He said it is usually open by appointment so it was very lucky he was right there and saw me. He mentioned they were closing this location at the end of the year and hope to get a smaller place nearby. There are lots of nice looking leather bags in attractive colors here. Make good gifts if you need one or someone else does. There are also walls of art prints by Picasso and other artists. Many quite interesting ones. I walked in after having brunch nearby and was a bit taken aback by their very forward and almost too-friendly approach. Walking around I liked a few of their pieces, but didn't fall in love with anything until I saw the cutest piece on "sale" for a fairly reasonable price. It was only after I left did I realize I had been charged more than advertised, only a few extra cents nbd. But after reading a couple other reviews I actually looked up how much the purse was on the brand's website. Retail price was exactly what I had been charged. It wasn't on sale at all. Or even real leather, which is on me, usually I can tell. While I'm sure this is an okay place if you don't honestly care about the quality vs. price you pay, however I'd rather buy consignment and know I'm getting a very expensive and high quality piece for a sale price than to be mislead into believing something of not great quality is on "sale." As overly nice as they were, I won't be returning. These sort of practices aren't something I support. read more

The owners of this business are very welcoming and, if you chat with them a bit, you'll find they have warm hearts and will brighten your day with their great personalities. Some have commented that the owners tend to be "too welcoming," but I would suggest that perhaps this is a misinterpretation of classic Middle Eastern hospitality, so meeting the proprietors is an opportunity to learn something new and dynamic about other cultures! The leather goods are all hand made and designed to be durable, and they also stock extremely durable and stylish canvas/leather bags and backpacks that will last a lifetime. The owner Jim is attentive, friendly and talented. He designs all of the handbags in the store for manufacturers. The bags you see are samples he shows to them. He will get comments from them like add a zipper here or I need a larger opening there. He refines the design and sells that sample to folks like us. Therefore the samples are all private label, but you might later see one very similar at a larger store. This makes this store, the experience and Jim very unique. I left with a gorgeous ice blue spring handbag that I am already getting compliments on. My friend got a large bag that her laptop fits into. I don't see why I would ever go anywhere else to buy a handbag again. The best part was talking with Jim and hearing tales from his 40 years as a handbag designer. read more

OMG. So Graffeo is so sweet. Its mostly luggage and purses, almost all leather, for ridiculously sweet prices. You can get a Channel purse for under a hunney. My buddy got his first real briefcase here and he loves it. Very good quality and they have other goodies like jewelry, scarves, and FREAKIN SHOES! They shoes are retarded cheap, no brand names but super funky styles. (Only ladies shoes, sorry boys) The couple that works there are super friendly and remember you when you come in. I got my mom a sweet Monet umbrella and a beautiful silk pashima shawl. And, if you buy a whole bunch of stuff they sometimes will give you a deal. They have lots of interesting things besides leather but I have only purchased leather backpacks/purses/a business card holder and a check book cover. I am pretty rough on these items and they have lasted longer and looked better than all the other leather bags I have owned. This is my go to place for purses that can be worn as backpacks. The gentlemen there have always been correct with their recommendations and the prices are reasonable. They are wonderful human beings and make you feel right at home. read more

A few days ago I purchased a handbag at Graffeo in San Carlos, a store that offers a wide variety of leather, etc. products. The price on the handbag was shown as $240. Its sale price was $99. I liked the bag, and bought it. I assumed that the $240 price was inflated and noted the statement on the sales receipt that all sales are final with only exchanges being allowed. Today out of curiosity I took off the sale price sticker that was stuck on over the website showing the bag's manufacturer and searched for the bag online to see what its real retail cost is. To my shock, I saw that it could be purchased online for $52. I still like the bag and I will use it; however, I am writing this review to inform people about Graffeo's pricing approach. read more

I have been looking for a handbag for a few months and just hadn't found what I wanted. After attending a meeting in San Carlos, I stopped in Graffeo and looked around. They have a large inventory of handbags and other leather goods. The range of quality is wide - from very casual "fun" inexpensive bags to fine handbags. But the price range is very narrow......mostly very inexpensive. Today, I found a beautiful leather bag that was priced at $99. The leather is supple and the detail is simple, just like I was searching for. Unfortunately, the strap that came with the bag was too short for my taste. I asked the proprietor, Jim, if by any chance they had alternative straps and he went into the bag and returned with two huge boxes of leather straps in every color and type of leather. We searched together for about 20 minutes, and then he went to the front of the store to help other customers while I picked out 4-5 straps that could work. It turned out that none of them was perfect but I settled on one and was about to pay. As I was standing by the counter, I saw a small handbag made of the exact leather (same manufacturer as my bag) and it had a long strap! He offered it to me happily! I will definitely return to this store and I am pleased with my purchase and the shopping experience. read more

a couple yrs ago bought gorgeous white leather purse from graffeo. put in closet and didn't use for a year. when i did use it, immediately started shedding itty pieces of white. hey, this purse is plastic! soft PLASTIC! i took purse to store owner, told him circumstances. he said "oh, we make better now". BUT YOU INTENTIONALLY SOLD ME cheap fake PURSE! told me "no refund". i didn't expect refund a yr later from this dishonest seller. but apology, accepting responsibility and an offer to refund would have been nice. do not buy from this guy, especially "leather" goods... read more
