Patty Melt
Rayce M.

On a Wednesday, this is one of the few places to grab a bite in the Graeagle area. Unfortunately, the service is not great and the food is extremely average. It took about 8 minutes for them to clear a table for us to sit at in a mostly empty restaurant, which isn't too long but then it took another 10 minutes for us to be greeted and have our drink order taken. We had the chicken strips, patty melt, taco salad, and wedge salad. The bill came to $77. This place is quite pricey for what you are getting. The patty melt was extremely under seasoned along with the fries. The wedge salad was very small. The chicken strips seemed like they were of the frozen variety. Although everything was hot, the food just didn't have flavor. If you are in the area on one of the days of the week where it's the only place open, go ahead and eat here. Otherwise, find another hidden gem in this area!

Greagle burger

Greagle is a pretty place in the woods. At about 60 miles from Reno it's a bit of a trek but a fun drive in the country. The restaurant is an old time place. Quite rustic. I think that people come here to get away from the hectic city life. The food was decent. The people were nice. It's worth a stop if you are in the area.

Eggs Benedict

Stopped here for the first time on my way to a hike in Graeagle and I was thoroughly impressed! We sat outside and our service was great. Sitting outside is always a hit or miss, but I usually have my dog with me so sitting outside is common. The weather was nice, the tables were clean, our waitress was friendly. We both got the eggs Benedict, although I ordered mine with no ham, as I always do. For the first time EVER out of everywhere I have ever been, the waitress came out with my bill and told me she charged me less because I didn't get ham. No where in my life has given me a discount for that. I was so incredibly impressed. I always am bummed when I don't see a veggie Benedict as an option on the menu, but have learned to deal with it. But this waitress went out of her way to give me a deal which was awesome. The food was a great portion, the eggs were perfectly poached, and I was very happy with the experience.

Side of 2 eggs. $3.50. Sunny-side eggs done right.

We appreciate the new owners for keeping the restaurant very much like Chris and Randi left it. I've only been here a few times since I now live out of town... but every time I visit, I appreciate the interior - I really like the look! We started with spinach / artichoke dip as an appetizer... thumbs up all around the table on that one. There are actually several appetizers on the menu that look good - it's always tough for me to choose - but if you just wanted to drop by for a happy hour nibble, I'd say most people would be covered. It'd be fair to say that apps are one of their strengths. I had a caesar salad, and it was good! Pretty standard caesar, but I'm amazed that many restaurants manage to screw it up by drowning it in dressing or whatever. None of the common mistakes here - nice fresh, crisp lettuce... good dressing and imo the right amount - not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of my friends had the Chicken Parm and the other had Shrimp Scampi - both reported goodness! The dishes looked great, but I behaved this time and kept my fork to myself. I had the salmon - one of my "go to" dishes - and it was good as well. Yes... we had dessert! There were several good options, but we decided to share the cookie "mess". Good balance with all ingredients... and for something described as a "mess," it was plated quite well! Definitely high on my list of possibilities when I'm in the area!

We left satisfied and happy to plan a return visit very soon. The food we had, crab cakes, clam chowder, chicken marsala, beef stroganoff and berry cobbler were all absolutely delicious! The espresso martini I had was unmatched. The staff, servers, chefs & owners were all friendly and welcoming. We look forward to returning often to one of our new favorite restaurants. If you're in the area don't hesitate to eat here. A+

A beautiful historic building from 1876 with all the rustic charm you'd expect , original hardwood floors , beautiful wood beams and a cozy little bar right when you walk in . The staff was super friendly, great customer service and hospitality, squeezed us in without a reservation! My wife and I enjoyed the Chicken Marsala and Beef Stroganoff each served with mashed potatoes and mixed veg. Both meals were cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce that should accompany each dish . 10/10 for me on both dishes, it would be hard to pick a favorite but I'd have to order the stroganoff again on my next visit ..... too good!! Both meals came with a delicious side salad - blue cheese dressing was house made and yummy! Fresh bread, two different kinds , both were spot on . Iron Door hit a home run with every single portion of our meal and the rustic country charm of this hidden gem was the icing on the cake!!! I almost don't want to share my secret........ but if you are visiting Graeagle, pass on all the dining options in Blairsden and Graeagle and head up the mountain to little ol Johnsville for a meal that is sure to satisfy! If you want to impress your friends the super cool hidden gem that only the locals know about, The Iron Door is THE place to go. Cheers!!
