This place has the best burgers and they are open when all the local eateries are closed between 2-5 pm. After a hike, I didn't want to wait until 5 so I ordered a double cheese burger combo. Yum! The patties were nicely cooked with a smoke flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chocolate frosty was so good. I didn't finish the meal because the portions were so generous. The only reason for the 4 star is because the young kids in the pick up area were so disorganized. read more

Cute little place! It's on a corner and parking can be a problem depending when you visit. I had stopped by on a Saturday hot afternoon and it was busy. Not much shade to hide from the blazing sun. There's food (fried foods, burgers and ice cream treats). I had gotten the milkshake. I chose to do a different flavor combo of blackberry and Oreos which was good. I mostly ordered it because I was curious if it would be good. Because it was busy, our service was short and to the point. They needed to turn our orders around quickly so they weren't very talkative. But this place is a must try whenever you're in the area! read more

For what it is, Graeagle Mountain is great. It's a roadside burger joint in a small town--I was just happy that they had a decent enough veggie burger because many small town joints do not even have vegetarian options. Super-solid burger joint! A can't-miss if you're in the area and craving a good burger and fries! We ate on our tailgate, so apologies for no pics, but they would've looked like very other picture up there so no harm no foul LOL. The line was HELLA long, bc it was their big July 4th weekend celebration, and it was full of families picking up/dropping kiddos off at Two River Soccer Camp (AND 5 STAR PLACE BTW), but it moved quickly and we had our food in no time. The other bonus was being served our dipped cones FIRST, because if you've read my other reviews, "DESSERT-FIRST" is the way to live your best life! Just your basic burger and fry place in a small town. HOWEVER the portions were quite large! We were impressed! My husband had a burger and appreciated the sesame seed bun. My kiddo and I just got fries, a family size and it was MORE than enough. Pretty darn good too. I enjoyed my chocolate shake and especially liked that I could drink it with a straw. This place has gone WAAAAAAY downhill. They forgot to give us fries last time and when we called them about it they said that we never order them. This time my mom asked them to double check to make sure we got our order and the girl was pretty rude and said everything was there. We came home to find that they forgot our onion rings even though we paid for them. Their chili is almost $5 and we literally measured only 2 tablespoons inside the bowl. Food is worse also. If I come back it would probably be for the ice cream only, and that would be only if the line was short. We recently returned to the town of Graeagle for a short vacation. We had not been here since 2000, when we camped at nearby Plumas Eureka State Park, and remembered fond evenings with our boys at Graeagle Mountain Frostee, enjoying their ice cream and burgers (and avoiding camping grub!). We were delighted to find after 17 years Graeagle Mountain Frostee was as good as ever! We stopped here several times for both ice cream and dinners. Everything we had was great. Their chocolate/vanilla swirl ice cream cones were a wonderful blast from the past (and hard to find in the foodie Bay Area). For dinners we had their burgers, fried cod and Philly cheesesteak. Naturally, I needed to try their milkshakes. Both their chocolate and strawberry milkshakes were top-notch. The fruit milkshakes are made from real fruit, and this strawberry milkshake was the best I'd ever had. Other milkshake flavors available are: vanilla, pineapple, caramel, blueberry, butterscotch and Oreo. I really would've loved to try their blueberry if I had had the time. Prices are very reasonable and service was fairly quick, especially for the ice cream. An abundance of picnic tables on the sides and back offer a lot of seating, and indoor dining is available also. We brought a large party there after being turned down by 2 different restaurants and they accommodated us amazingly! They were so kind even though they were busy! Other restaurants in the area could take note of their hospitality and smiles. Thank you for the perfect meal and kindness. Been going there for the last couple of years. Went with the family midday to cool down. I bought the Butterscotch Malt. Unfortunately, what I got was a 20 oz. cup of vanilla ice cream on top blended and about 4 -5 oz of Butterscotch settled at the bottom. Others in out group got ice cream cones and a root beer float. We stopped in for lunch as we were in the area. We both ordered cheese burgers with fries. The buns were cold to the touch which was odd. The 1/3 lb. patties were very greasy, but seasoned alright. The fries were great large cut with a crisp outside and a fluffy, tender inside. We also had a vanilla milkshake and a chocolate malt. Both were so thick that we had to wait for them to melt. The shake had good flavor, but the chocolate malt didn't have any malt flavor at all and so super dark brown in color. Just the average run of the mill fast food place, definitely not the caliber of what one thinks of a Frosty Freeze place. If there is a next time, only sift serve cones and fries. read more

We wanted to take a drive, and my husband remembered the burgers here were some of the best he's ever had. Well, time has a way of playing tricks. The burger was good, but it wasn't amazing. I had a veggie burger, and it wasn't the best I've had, in fact it was pretty dry. I was wishing I ordered the burger. The fries were really good. I wish we would have had room for a milkshake, but I couldn't eat another bite. If you're in the area, this is certainly a worthwhile stop. There are picnic tables outside for socially distancing. I went here for their frosties/blizzards because I've heard that they are better than the Portola frosties so after a long hike, they sounded even better, I was stoked on getting ice cream to cool off. I like the placement of the little hut. The lines were about average, it was around lunch time so it was pretty busy. I had my eye on their Skittle blizzard for a while, I saw it on a sign, and I went up to order and got the large Skittle blizzard. I stood around the pick up window for about 10 minutes before they called out my name, I walked to the window expecting to see my large cup filled with ice cream and Skittles but saw nothing. The worker rudely exclaimed that they were out of Skittles and asked for another option assuming I wanted another. I was feeling almost pressured to get another. I was extremely bummed since that was the whole reason on why I wanted to go to this in the first place was for that one blizzard. I didn't know what else to get considering I'm allergic to chocolate and peanuts. I saw their Tropical Hawaiian blizzard and decided to get that. It said it contained bananas, coconut, and pineapple which is odd because Banana is not a tropical fruit...? After another 10 minutes in waiting I finally got my blizzard. I already felt like I wanted to curl up in a ball and cry after not getting Skittles but after seeing the monstrosity this supposed tropical blizzard looked like, I want to cry even more. They used real coconut shavings so that was really neat, but after the first bite, the neatness immediately went away. The ice cream was melted completely was more of a sauce rather than ice cream. There wasn't any bananas in it either. The pineapple was definitely artificial and was more of a pureé. It didn't even taste like pineapple! Even worse, I'm sitting on the toilet right now while writing this because I'm allergic to pineapple, pineapple is just so good I still eat it if it's worth it, THIS was definitely NOT worth it. I'd rather have their milk or nothing because it would've been better than this. I'm pretty sure I will never come here ever again due to this atrocity. read more

We woke up bright and early on a Sunday, super exited to get a skittles frosty. We had just finished a long hike and drove to frostys. The lines are always crazy long so we stood in the hot hot sun for a very long time. We got to the front and ordered our frostys. We stood in the sun for another 15 minutes when they shouted our name over the speaker and we walked up to get our frostys and ice cream for our friends. They handed us the two ice creams (which took 15 minutes for them to make) only for them to rudely tell us that they are out of skittles, even though we had already waited the 15 minutes, and drove all the way to get the frostys. I get it, it's not their fault that they were out of the skittles, but the menu said they had them but in reality they didn't. Probably just some sort of marketing scheme. They said "what do you want instead" assuming that we were going to buy something else. We ended up asking for two of their new 'tropical Hawaiian blizzard"s. We weren't looking forward to them, but the only other options were chocolate and peanut butter. I'm allergic to peanut butter so I got the Hawaiian. Another 10 minutes later they called out my name and we collected the blizzards. Nothing like we expected. Artificial pineapple purée with dry coconut flakes on top. Even though the menu said there would be banana, there was none. The ice cream was just their classic vanilla flavor, which I would have ordered if I had wanted to, was supposed to be banana. We said thank you and walked away with our $7 blizzards. After trying them, we were even more disappointed than before. The pineapple was fake, and processed and so was the coconut. We ended up scooping the fake pineapple into the trash to give the ice cream a try. Turns out it was just vanilla ice cream with even more fake pineapple and coconut mixed into it. We figured it would be too rude to return the Blizzards once we got it, but I would have been better off just ordering a water or milk. The environment was very overstimulating and busy with shouting people and workers, which is normal, but we didn't get to order what we wanted to after our long hike up the canyon. We were extremely upset that we could not order the skittles frostys that I promised my buddy we could get. There were many workers there, considering how long it took them to make even a simple ice cream. All of us are extremely disappointed and ended up throwing away our "tropical" blizzards. I would not recommend coming here to anyone looking for a good frosty or ice cream in the area. We have always been disappointed in their food and this experience just assured that we will most likely not be going back. read more

We come here every time we come to Graeagle, usually just for a frosty. We got held up by construction on our way up. We decided to come here for a quick bite after a long road trip. We got there right before 6:00. As we walked up a frosty was handed out the window. The person saw s there and quickly slammed the window after yelling "we're closed!" Extremely poor customer service. It's not like there was a herd behind us coming up and since we got there just before 6 they should have served us, especially since we would have been eating outside. Used to really enjoy going to the Frostee many years ago, with great crispy fries and excellent burgers. Haven't been in years but tried it today. Because we weren't too hungry, my partner and I were going to split a burger and fries. Fries were a disappointment as they were lukewarm, and not crisp as we like. The burger was just ok, but the special sauce which looks like thousand island that I like, seemed to have some "heat" in it. I couldn't eat more than 3 bites, as it was too hot for this gringo mouth. Also, no where to sit but picnic tables with no shade in VERY warm weather, and they don't allow patrons into their dining room. We took our food and drove to find shade. I just picked up and ate a delicious juicy 1/3 pound lettuce wrap bacon cheeseburger here to stay on my keto plan. And it wasn't wrapped in some pale piece of head lettuce either. It was a full leaf of Curly green lettuce with tomato and red onion. Yum! They are fast & serve delicious frosty fare of all kinds but it's super nice to have access to a quick keto meal. I came down from a hike and decided to get a sweet treat. Have heard great things about frostee ice cream so I decided to go enjoy some delectable ice cream. Unfortunately, I pushed the limits too far when my stomach growled and made me buy food as well. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and a Reese's frostee/blizzard. Boy was I excited. Upon opening the wrapped up sandwich I was met with a preposterous looking sandwich. Good thing I have a big back. I scarfed the food down and was extremely disappointed. The meat was not seasoned at all. I mean at all. The ratio of meat to cheese was good. But the taste was not salvageable. Ketchup was my Superman as I used it to drown out the taste. At the end of the day it is hard to ruin a Philly cheesesteak but they did it. The cheesesteak also came with fries and they were unseasoned as well. I seriously should have asked if they were out of salt. Now to the ice cream. The savior of this review. The ice cream was amazing. Heavy handed with the Reese's was an under statement. Chunks of Reese's coated my mouth with the sweetness of the cream and ice. It was beautiful. Dairy Queen has nothing on this place when it comes to blizzard. Overall, if you go here stay away from the food, but it is definitely a place that I would recommend when craving some ice cream. read more

This is a staple of Graeagle and I used to come here as a kid during the summer. On a hot summer night, grabbing a burger and shake from here is very comforting and takes you back to childhood. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. They accept cash and card but there is a fee to pay with your card. We ordered cheeseburgers, French fries and an Oreo shake. Didn't go here as a kid. First time in Graeagle and was glad to have a quality burger and ice cream joint. I had a veggie burger and it was really good. I ordered an Oreo shake with it and it was delicious. My party had a burger, curly fries and a vanilla shake. Everyone was happy. Food took a while but was well worth it and we sat at picnic tables and enjoyed the weather. This place was packed so they turned out the food fairly quickly considering.
