To my surprise, they told me I didn't need an oil change or any work done on my tires; the wear was even, and I could return to have them checked "next summer." The oil was fine and should last "about 2000 miles more." What other place will be honest even if it means losing money? I left there with hot coffee in my stomach and no money out of my pocket. It was a blown engine (rod, cylinder, bearing, who knows the cause at this point). Spoke with the owner Charles who was fantastic and filled with integrity. The mechanic Gareth replaced the engine and had the car back in a week (there were other issues as a result of shrapnel shooting out of the block). 600 miles on the 76k used engine and so far no issues. Mr. Hoover (Charles) also let me know, and I trust him, if there's an issue he will make it right. I did consult a couple of other mechanics and they said that the work was being done at a very reasonable price (one said it was cheaper than he could do, especially the price of the engine). Most people need to realize cars a crap shoot. Quality integrity and workmanship is a skill though.
